DogFriendlyTogether.co.uk is primarily a directory of dog friendly places throughout the UK including pubs, hotels, camp sites, guest houses, bed and breakfasts, restaurants and days out for the family. We are working with local dog charities, vets, dog walkers, trainers and of course owners to try and make the world a little bit more dog friendly. One of our more recent initiatives is our Dog Ale
rts page making owners aware of potential issues in their area, be it breeding adders on the heath, or criminal activities involving man's best friend.

RAPESEED
We are coming up to the season where farmers fields will turn golden yellow with Rapeseed, feeling summery 🤗 and a beautiful backdrop to scenic photographs.
‼️However pretty the fields look, please do try to avoid walking through them with your dogs, & certainly avoid having your dog pose for photos in fields of rapeseed.
Rapeseed is listed by Dogs Trust as toxic to our dogs if ingested and can cause symptoms such as:
⛑ Haemolytic Anaemia
⛑ Blindness
⛑ Damaged Nervous System
⛑ Digestive Disorders
⛑ Breathing Problems
⚠️ Please be warned that some dogs can also suffer after effects from just running through Rapeseed.
Reports have shown dogs can be super sensitive to this plant, suffering skin lesions and burn-like sores effecting their eyes and paws. (Photo in story)
Some have even experienced breathing difficulties from the pollen.
‼️If you think your dog is showing symptoms of rapeseed poisoning, please seek immediate veterinary attention.

BRRRRRR it's turned much colder and it's time to get the car winter ready! ❄️❄️❄️
Did you know though, that antifreeze is dangerous to our pets as it contains ethylene glycol and this can be fatal if ingested!!
We share this message every winter (and thanks to the Animal Health Trust for this great poster), but unfortunately we still we see poisonings . . . . 😢
Always take care to clean up any spillages and keep containers well out of the way of inquisitive noses and if you do suspect your pet has been licking at antifreeze you should contact your vet immediately!!

Four legged, hooved, tails or fins, our lifesavers are called to assist many different animals that have got into difficulty on the water. Remember – if you spot an animal in difficulty at the coast call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

If on a warm or hot day your dog is panting heavily and is distressed and especially if the dog is short nosed (e.g. a boxer or French bulldog), overweight or has been playing or exercising, think heatstroke! Put the dog somewhere cool, wet the coat with tepid water (cold water contracts the blood vessels in the skin and slows heat loss) and phone or go the vet. You can offer a small amount of water but don’t delay going to the vet; getting there soon can make all the difference. This is so important in this hot weather! With the sudden rise in temperatures around the country today, we would just like to remind all dog owners that our furry companions struggle twice as much as we do in this heat and would advise not to let your dog spend too long outside. Doing so may cause unnecessary harm to your animal.
