Doggies having fun at daycare today ☺️🐶
It can be tricky determining what play is okay and when it’s getting too much. This is a great video that shows one instance of it only being slightly too much for one of the dogs. We have a staffy and Rommie rescue playing chase.
The Rommie rescue runs slightly ahead of the staffy which isn’t ideal play behaviour, the chasing dog should leave space and not actually catch up with the dog in front. You can see this bothers the staffy because he stops play and does a shake. Thankfully the Rommie rescue gives him the space to shake it off and moves away. ❤️🐶🐾
Encouraging your dog to shake when they are a bit overwhelmed is a great way to bring stress levels down and prevent escalation. And praising the other doggy for giving them a bit of space is good too. Perhaps in time either the staffy will learn to trust that the other dog is still just playing, or the Rommie rescue will learn to hold back a little if she wants the play to continue. 🤞😅
Kimi rather likes the trampoline, little Stanley is not so sure 😂
Our stunning merle collie cross, Smokey, having a fab time with Max. Both are nervous doggies in different ways so it’s extra wonderful to see them playing ❤️🐶
A good example of whale eye where it is not a warning sign. Cocker Spaniels have very expressive eyes and this is just Lottie wanting to be chased 😂❤️
Little poodle crosses having the best time! And other dogs just leaving them to their fun 😁🥰🥰🐾
Little Stanley making a new friend! And an example of using a long line to ensure other more boisterous dogs aren’t interfering 😅🥰 all about good doggy manners at Alicia’s House of Paws! 🐾
Hamish catching a treat like a pro! 🐾🥳😎
This is why our paddling pools are never clean for more than a minute 😂😅
Monty may be our second smallest doggy, he's a little sausage and I love this video of him playing with Molly and Rogue ❤️ Lexi tried to join in too but Molly was more interested in Monty. 💔
Out of those three, Lexi was the only tricky doggy to start with us, she is human-reactive and dog-reactive, particularly around her home, and it took some time for us to earn her trust. But these days she is a big snuggle bug and has played with every other doggy at day care 😁🐕
This video also shows how we manage other dogs interrupting play, just calling them over and encouraging them to do something else. Having a relationship with the doggies helps soo much! Nora must think oh, Alicia is calling me, will I get some cuddles? 🤞😂 Of course, Nora!
