New Hope Animal Rescue

New Hope Animal Rescue An Independent non-destruct rescue dedicated to helping the animals most in need. We also give sanctuary to rescued horses and rescued farmed animals and fowl.

New Hope Animal Rescue is an independent, non-destruct animal rescue and Sanctuary. New Hope is dedicated to helping animals on facing euthanasia or in immediate danger and those with either medical needs or behavioural problems that make them difficult to place. We aim to help as many animals and in particular those that have been turned away elsewhere. We have two sites, one in Dartford Kent whi

ch concentrates on our dog rescue, where we hold about thirty dogs at a time and the other is our Sanctuary site in Herne Bay, Kent. Our Sanctuary site looks after about three hundreds animals at a time ranging from dogs, cats and small domestics to cows, sheep, pigs and horses. We occasionally rehome those that we consider rehomeable, but often act as the middle man between immediate danger and rescue spaces. We work alongside a vast pool of other rescue organisations to make safe as many as we can. New Hope has no paid staff, including its Founders who work full time to cover as much cost as possible. We are always in need of donations to cover a vast array of expenses that are incurred including feed and bedding, enormous vets bills, kennel bills and fuel costs for transporting. If you would like to donate to help towards saving these animals via paypal it`s [email protected] (Please note there are 3 l`s) or direct transfer is available to New Hope`s Bank account,

Lots of you know that as well as the animal side of the Sanctuary there is a community side too. This focusses on young people with assisted learning needs and other young people in the community needing extra guidance and placements.
Last week we were invited as nominees EKC Canterbury and were privileged to win the Inclusive learning Employer award, and then today we were given a certificate of Gratitude from another college that we open up to.
We’ve really managed to extend the number of people we help over the last year and now have atleast one group per day and some days more.
It’s great for them and it’s great for us too 🫶

Another poor Bully in our care, he’s under measurement so would class as a standard Bully (not an XL).
He was dumped yesterday by three men in a children’s play park in the sweltering heat of early afternoon and left.
Cropped ears and a foreign chip that’s not registered.
He needed somewhere safe and we couldn’t turn him away. He’s a stressed out lad and reactive at present, as he was in the park.
Police and a larger welfare organisation were at scene and we got a call so went to collect him.
Hoping he will calm down now he’s safe. I don’t really know what we’re going to do with a dog like him right now, there aren’t many options for boys like this lad at the moment and we’ve got no history so our moves with him need to be extremely well thought out. However, he’s with us now and we’ve taken responsibility for him so we will work something out.
Let’s see what the next few days bring.
We’ve called him Big’Ed

Yesterday we said a sad goodbye to one of our oldest pigs Roy. Roy was one of our London pigs who moved to the Sanctuary with us. He lost the use of his back legs, and the sad reality is big heavy older animals just don’t have the quality of life without full mobility.
We tried some treatment and pain relief for a short time to see if we could remedy the situation but along with the vet quickly decided it was right to let him go.
Enjoy the big wallow in the sky Roy The Boy 🐽

Another group of little dogs that were in need of urgent help, now safe with us. They’re a sweet young bunch, nervous little souls but all very sweet.
We’ve been organising the right rescue spaces for them this morning and sorting drivers. Thankfully this little lot have plans in place and a bright future to look forward to 🙂

Another two lurchers in poor condition now in our care. We’ve just sorted a forward space for them both and are organising transport. They will receive all vet work needed before going up for rehoming. Two more sorted 😅
