It's time to bring your piggies indoors and keep them warm! ☃️⁠
⁠
🧊 If temperatures drop below 16 degrees Celsius, you'll need to keep an eye out for signs of hypothermia in your piggies!⁠
⁠
☃️ Cold ears, nose and paws ⁠
🥶 Check them with a thermometer for a healthy body temperature of 38-39 degrees celsius ⁠
😰 Shivers and shakes⁠
🤔 Lethargy ⁠
😴 Your piggies sleeping for long periods of time outside of torpor ⁠
😔 They seem uncomfortable⁠
🚨 Do take your piggies to the vet if they have these symptoms and you're concerned ⁠

🙈 Make sure to draw any curtains and close your blinds to keep out the flashes from the fireworks
🐹 Provide hideys for your piggies

The weather is changing around the world! 🌍️🌞☃️

🥶 Make sure to move your piggy inside and keep them nice and warm if the weather is getting a bit chilly!
🌬️Keep them away from any drafts
🥰 Provide extra bedding
🌞 Put their cage in an area with sunlight

🥵 Keep your piggies out of direct sunlight and use a freezable bottle to keep your piggies cool if the weather is heating up!
🍉 Feed your piggies hydrating fruits such as watermelon
💨 Make sure they have AC or a fan to keep them cool

Do guinea pigs hibernate? 🤔

🤩 Piggies party all year round!
🥶 Although guinea pigs don't hibernate, they can go into torpor. This happens when they're in cold conditions ☃️
🥰 Guinea pigs should be kept in temperatures of 18°C to 23°C
🧊 Piggies can fall ill and get hypothermia if they are kept in cold conditions
