We are temporarily pausing our services in the Yeovil area as some of our long-standing volunteers are taking a well-earned departure from the charity at the end of this year. We are so thankful for their time and dedication over the years, transforming the lives for hundreds of cats in Yeovil.

Whilst its hard for us to lose such outstanding volunteers, we are using this time to assess the need for our help in Yeovil and the surrounding areas. Because of this, we are looking for volunteers who are keen to help us take care of cats in Somerset and Dorset! If you think this could be you, let us know in the comments below or get in touch.

TREACLE *HAPPILY REHOMED*

18 month old Treacle is a very sweet and vocal cat. She likes attention and is calm when she is held, but only when she wants to be. She was very fearful when she arrived but has turned into a lovely cat, she paws at her fosterers if she thinks they might leave before she wants them to. She likes playing with her toys, rubbing round people's legs and absolutely loves meaty sticks, preferably hand-fed as she is so gentle. Treacle has a fairly typical tortie temperament and so would not be suitable for a first time cat owner or a home with young children. Willow is a lovely, sweet natured cat. She loves company and likes to roll around on the ground, preferably in the sun. She quickly got used to her new (hopefully very temporary) home and is a very friendly, rubby girl. Willow would like a calm home with people who would be around a lot of the time. Ginny is a lovely eight year old girl. She wants to be an affectionate cat but is often overcome by nerves. She is very playful and loves company. She needs to go to a quiet home with someone of previous cat owning experience. She has shown no signs of aggression but just gets a little panicked, hissing and the odd swipe with no claws. TWO BEAUTIFUL WHITE LADIES!
Sheeba (12 yrs old, green eyes & black spot on her nose) is looking for a pet free, retirement home together with her daughter Crystal (10 yrs old, blue/grey eyes. They have both only known one owner, so can be a little apprehensive and timid, when meeting new people. Saying that, they come out of their "shell" fairly quickly and then their true, loving, sweet and beautiful nature shines through!! Ninja is a 7 year old gentle, friendly boy looking for a new home.
When Ninja arrived he was very scared, we are not sure but he may never have been outside. He will need some time to settle into his new environment and be introduced to the outdoors very slowly. Ninja has been with us a few weeks and in that time has improved so much, he is a different cat now. He loves company, he probably loves his toy fish more though and likes to carry them around! Ninja needs a quietish home where all family members are over 12 years old. He is starting to be more comfortable with being held and sit on laps, this should improve in time when he gets to know you. Ninja will make a lovely pet. He is a gentle soul and will return all the love you give him, but you will need to patiently develop a bond with him before he can broaden his horizons. Lady is approximately 3 years old, is a long hair tortoiseshell beauty. She is looking for a new owner who is happy to have a gentle lady occupy their lap. She is a very friendly girl who likes to be brushed although we haven't needed to do it very much. The moment you sit down she climbs on your lap, stretches out and starts to purr. If a lap isn't available then she likes to either get comfy on her big cardboard bed or snuggle up in her igloo. We don't know Lady's background so don't know if she's lived with other animals. She would best suit a home where all

Lucy is a loveable 2.5year old lady. She packed her bags and left home as she didn't like the cat she had to share with and wasn't thrilled by the children that visited. As you will have guessed we are looking for a home with no pets or children. The pictures of Lucy are a little different because the two most important things in her life are cuddles and food. She loves human company so you need to be there most of the time and finally you must be happy to be licked. Please don't consider her if you would dislike that trait as it is a big thing to her. FOUND- A male cat has been found by Lysander Road, Yeovil. He is black with a white spot, not chipped, wearing a plastic turquoise collar. He has been hit by a car and taken to the vets who are treating him. The vets are trying desperately to find the owner. Willow is such a lovely lady. She is 3 1/2 years old and looking for a
home where she will have company for most of the day.
When Willow first came into care she was a little unsettled but after a short while began to show her sweet and loveable nature.

Members of the public have been contacted by someone claiming to be from the RSPCA. They've been told that their missing pet is with the charity or at a local vets and they must pay money over the phone. In some cases they are asking for a small collection fee and owners are then finding much more money has been taken from their account and in others they are asking £200 for life-saving surgery.
In some instances, the fraudsters are mirroring our phone number so the incoming call displays 0300 123 8585 which is particularly concerning.
We believe that these people are scouring websites and social media to find missing pet posters and are targeting owners.
It's disgraceful that these scammers are preying on already distressed pet owners and we're incredibly concerned that they may end up pocketing hundreds of pounds from owners who are desperately looking for their missing pets.
We do not ask for money for veterinary care for missing pets over the phone in this way and would urge anyone who receives such a call not to give out their personal details.
Anyone who is contacted about a missing pet in our care should ask for a reference number and the officer's name and call our national call centre on 0300 1234 999 (between 7am and 10pm).

This involves managing the lost and found team, scanning stray cats, dealing with people via facebook, e-mails and on the telephone. An ability to work in a team and to deal sympathetically with the public is essential.
