🐾Monty really hates to be messed with!

Lucky for him, we are very much used to dogs like him, and we always do our best to make them feel as safe as possible.

Dogs who are perfectly friendly from a distance, but who feel cornered and anxious when someone comes near.

Monty’s exam is always as hands off as possible.

We get a lot of information while we observe from a little distance.

This time it was time for Monty’s booster, and while he didn’t exactly like the injection, he settled down again straight after as if nothing had happened.

🐾Minimal stress, that’s how we like it🐾

Today was a tough day.

We had to say good bye to two longstanding, much loved patients 🌈

It never gets easy.

The rational mind knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that it’s the right thing to do, and that it’s one last act of kindness.

The professional makes the transition stress free and peaceful.

And yet the heart is heavy.

Rest easy, you two 🤍🐾

🌿’I thought you were going to tell me there’s nothing that can be done!’🌿

This is what a client said to me today- and she was so very pleased that I had a number of treatment options for her lovely cat.

We hear that so often!

And it’s simultaneously heartbreaking and the best feeling in the world when we can give these people and their pets more treatment options and HOPE!

Here’s the thing:

There’s always more that can be done.

It ain’t over til it’s over!

It makes me so sad to speak with people who felt hopeless and out of options before they had a consultation with us

and I can’t count how many pets have had a new lease of life once we’ve started to treat them.

Sometimes conventional, sometimes holistic.

If you’re ready to continue to support your pet, don’t give up!

Chances are, there IS more that can be done.

🐾Here’s the fabulous Peggy!

She’s an elderly lady with various health problems- but she’s absolutely not ready to give up just yet.

We’ve given her a good check over and reviewed and adjusted her medication and supplements.

Can’t wait to see how Peggy is going to thrive in her old age ❤️

🌿I LOVE to get into the assortment of supplements that so many pets are on and sort through what does and doesn’t make sense.

🥳Happiest birthday to our main man Thorsten!🥳

I’ve lost count of how many ‘man hating’ pets LOVE him, he puts everyone at ease, is so knowledgeable, incredible at thinking outside the box, and always goes the extra mile.

Not to mention the best husband and dad ❤️

Have a fabulous day today, Thorsten, and a great week off next week, following your heart into the wilderness of the Outer Hebrides, and no doubt taking incredible photos.🌊

After her acupuncture session today, Matilda was our first patient to have her blood pressure checked.

She was a star!

And happily, her blood pressure was spot on 👍

We started the New Year with some fabulous new and old patients!

Here’s the wonderful Aurora having acupuncture and laser therapy for some mobility issues.

She’s a fantastic example of how much can be achieved with natural treatments!

Aurora is a stunning Czechoslovakian Wolfdog.

She has been under treatment at Towerwood Vets for a while and is on a number of remedies, and we’re now seeing her for acupuncture and laser as well, and will be adding in herbal remedies too.

Aurora is naturally a bit wary of ‘things being done to her‘, yet in her own home, and taking the time she needs to let her guard down a bit, she can have the treatment she needs without much stress at all.

With this all round support, and the amazing commitment from her family, she is doing really well and doesn’t need any conventional medication at this point.

How wonderful!

(And don’t worry, there’s no way we’re letting Patch get his paws on any of these 😉- he got rewarded with his favourite dried sprats for being such a patient model, and the chocs are now safely out of his reach😀🐾)

❤️Here’s the gorgeous Bruce! 🐾

We love puppy visits so much.

Obviously because we get to cuddle puppies 😀

And more importantly, because there’s always so much to talk about- and we have the time to do just that-

🐾Check that they’re healthy

🐾Talk about lots of ways to keep them safe, healthy and happy

🐾And no, at Pets Relaxed that does not include putting them on year round flea and tick treatments (unless that’s what they needed of course, but we’ve yet to meet a puppy that does)

🐾Answer all your questions- usually there are loads, and we love that. No question is too silly, and we never rush.

Can’t wait to see how much Bruce has grown when I see him for his second vaccination soon ❤️

❤️Meet the amazing Tilly!🐾

When we first met her, just two weeks ago, she would sleep til 11am, not want to eat until dinner time, and she completely refused to go for any walks.

On top of that, she had recently injured one of her legs, and she could cope even less.

She was on good pain relief from her vet clinic, and is getting great care from her family at home, but she clearly needed more help.

⚡️We started Tilly on a combination of laser therapy and acupuncture, and she is doing incredibly!

🐕She goes for good walks every day, she gets up early with her dad, and she’s always ready for her breakfast!🐶

❤️What a transformation!!

🌟We can’t wait to continue to support Tilly - such a superstar! 🌟

🎆3 Last Minute Fireworks Tips 🎇

1. Draw the curtains and put some pet friendly music on (classic FM or Spotify are helpful). Now that it’s dark, stay inside- these bangs come so suddenly and like gun shots- it’s not worth going out, even for a quick wee. Lock or block your cat flap (making sure your cats are inside first, obviously)

2. If you have any good quality, calming essential oils, diffuse them (always make sure your pets can leave them room if they prefer). I love lavender, vetiver and frankincense.

3. Calm. We have a way of telling our fearful pets to calm down, in a stressed voice. That doesn’t work. We need to model being calm and relaxed. Take some deep breaths to ground yourself. Then talk to them calmly. Maybe tell them a story. Slow, gentle, calming strokes too.
