Just one week to go to our ‘BIG WALK’.

The team are all ready, the walkers have all been training hard and the greyhounds are ready for the walking to begin!

We would LOVE to see you along the way!

The walkers are going to need as much encouragement as they can get!

The team will be sharing their progress on Facebook and Instagram as they walk.

The route and rough times are below for the two days.

Day One:
Saturday 31st August
7am - Walkers begin at Bentley, Hampshire
8.20am - West End Farm, Upper Froyle
9.30am - Cassidy’s Bar, Alton
9.55am - Greyfriars, Chawton
11.15am - Garthownen Garden Centre
1.50pm - Ropley
3pm - The Ship Inn, Bishops Sutton
6pm - Cricketers Inn, Easton - End of Day One!

Day Two:
Sunday 1st September
7am - Cricketers Inn, Easton
8.10am - Winnal Industrial Estate
9.20am - Shawford Train Station
12.10pm - Toby Carvery, Eastleigh
1.20pm - Fleming Arms
2.25pm - Bellemoore
2.40pm - Parklife Cafe - WALK ENDS!

All timings are rough guides that the walkers will be passing.

If anyone would like to walk the last 6miles with the team then you would be very welcome to join the group from Toby Carvery, Eastleigh with or without your sighthounds.

The team will need your encouragement, especially the last part from Eastleigh, which is mostly on the roads and will therefore be hard going for them after walking all those miles before!

It would be lovely if some of our supporters could walk the last few miles with the group.

Please share with family and friends, keep the team going by coming out and seeing them, along the route at some of the above locations.

Bank Holiday Monday Events:

Come and see us on Monday 26th August at the Rustic Fayre in Verwood where we will be having a stall.

We will also be at Stubbington Fayre too, where you can meet some of our kennel greyhounds and we will have lots of goodies for sale too!

Tomorrow (Saturday 17th August) the team will be at Hedge End - Marks & Spencer’s/Sainsburys collecting.

Please come along and see us, the team would love to see you!

We will of course have some of our homeless hound greyhounds with us, who would love a fuss and a cuddle!

The team will be there from 8.30am-4.30pm.

This Sunday (18th August) is the next Friendship Group Walk. It will be taking place at Wilverley Plain, New Forest at 5pm.

Our kennel greyhounds will be in attendance too.

Please arrive by 4.45pm so the walk can start promptly at 5pm.

Update on Homings and reserved greyhounds!

Over the last few weeks the team have been busy with events, training and we have seen quite a few greyhounds get homed and reserved!

Duke and Paddy are both reserved and will be leaving us shortly.

Violet, Ted, Zuzu, Gigi and Boo have all been homed and are all doing really well in their new homes.

18 mile training walk successful achieved!

Our ‘BIG WALK’ walkers completed another training session yesterday. These dedicated volunteers are certainly training hard and preparing themselves for the ‘BIG WALK’ event at the end of the month.

We had a lovely day yesterday with Parklife Cafe. The craft activities were very popular with the local children who came along to enjoy the free session.

One of them drew this awesome picture of ‘a greyhound’ and gave it to us as a present.

This will be displayed in our office along with all our younger volunteers art work that we proudly display.

Our Car-Boot Team need your HELP:
Their stock is pretty low which means they will soon not be able to attend anymore car-boot sales and therefore not be able to raise funds for our kennel dogs. We desperately need your help. If you have any items that are suitable for car-boot sales, please get in contact.

The following items are needed:

Jewellery (real or costume) includes broken gold/silver etc.

Watches (pocket’ wrist’ working or not)

Kitchen small appliances & kitchenware

Small Electronics

Phones, Cameras and Laptops

Tools (garden or DIY) & Garden Ornaments

Boxed Games, Jigsaws & Children’s Toys

Smellies (boxed or single)

Cigar boxes & Brass items

Vinyls

Dog leads, collars, toys, coats etc.

We cannot take – books, CD’s, clothes or shoes.

If your item is not on this list please do email in and ask if we can take it.

BIG WALK UPDATE
Our walkers smashed their training session yesterday, walking 15 miles, without stopping!

The team walked from Easton to Southampton Common. Most of the walk was a mix between sun and shade until the last few miles where they walked from Eastleigh along the pavements in full sun. Plenty of water was taken and all the walkers made it back successfully!

Each week the team are continuing to train and build up those miles ready for the BIG EVENT.

The volunteers are giving up a lot of their time to ensure they are ready for this huge challenge.

The temperatures and humidity, even in the shade, are too high for the dogs.

The next Friendship walk is this Sunday (28th July) at 4pm, at Bolderwood, New Forest.

The walk will start promptly at 4pm, please arrive by 3.45pm so we can keep to timings. We will be walking in the cool, shade of the trees, to keep all our fury friends happy!

Bolderwood has a large carpark, toilets and even an ice cream van too!

We have had an amazing time this evening meeting some of the pubs and bars we will pass on our charity walk at the end of August.
alton lovely to meet Luke and Becca, looking forward to seeing you guys on the walk and organising some future activities together.

This weekend we are attending two events.

On Saturday we will be joining Sunnybank Care Home at the ‘Who Cares - We Care’ event. Some of our lovely greyhounds will also be attending to enjoy giving all those wonderful greyhound cuddles to all they meet.

On Sunday we will be attending ‘Shirley’s Big Green Carnival’ event. It is going to be a busy day, with some of our team in the carnival procession and our greyhound cuddle area will be in big demand!

We have lots of greyhounds waiting to be adopted so come along and take a look!

If you have a greyhound and can attend this event please come along and join us, when we enter the arena in the afternoon and show the local community our beautiful greyhounds!

A week full of happiness!

Troy, Zuzu and Gigi were all the lucky ones this week and have all been reserved. Zuzu and Gigi only came in on Sunday!

Bear found his new family and left us yesterday to start his new chapter and today the BIGGEST NEWS Giant was homed!

We are proud of all of you and know you are all going to have great fun moving forward.

Let’s hope this run of homings continues!

We are thrilled to announce that we raised £2,608.44 at our Summer Fair!

Thank you to all our volunteers, stall holders who helped make this weekend so successful.

NEWSFLASH - BIG NEWS!

THE BIG WALK CHALLENGE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED!

Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September.

6 walkers will embark on a 40 mile walk.

We are aiming to raise £4,000, £100 for every mile walked. This money will help us fund a paddock for our greyhounds to run free in. This is our long term goal.

Please share with family and friends and let’s hit this target!

Our 6 walkers need your support.

More information about the route of the walk will be given nearer the time if you would like to meet us on route to give us extra support.

Fantastic Weekend!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for a brilliant Summer Fair. We have had an action packed few days, lots of laughs, interest in our dogs and funds raised.

It has been lovely catching up with some of our supporters. Thank you to everyone who came along to see us and donate their money too.

We will update you later this week with the total raised.

The kennel greyhounds have been having some chill time this afternoon and what better way to do this with some water fun!

Summer Fair Day 1 complete!

A lovely day of fun and sunshine. The kennel dogs loved all their cuddles in our ‘greyhound cuddle area!’

A lovely start to the week!

Two of our long stayers and have had viewings over the last couple of days and both have now found their own homes!

Giant is now reserved and will be heading of shortly.

Milton had his viewing today and all went extremely well as he has now gone to start his new life with his very own family. Milton has been waiting 10 months to find that perfect home.

Well done to both boys.

We are all going miss you both but know how lucky you both are.
