WHAT DONT YOU SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.
You dropped your dog off at the salon, and picked him up a little while later, fluffy, fresh and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.
You didn't see me open up the salon, disinfect tools, sort out clean towels and check the days appointments.
You didn't see me look over your dog before even lifting a brush to check coat condition, skin, eyes ears and nails.
You didn't see the careful way I clipped the paw pads and around the paws of a dog that doesn't want to stay still, or how I had to pause at any sign of stress to keep him calm.
You didn't notice the matting hidden underneath the top coat which is pulling at his skin, or the way I worked slowly so as not to damage the skin beneath the matted hair.
You weren't there when I spotted a rash or irritated skin or a new lump, although you did hear mention it gently when you came to collect your furry friend, it's not mentioned to worry you but because we genuinely care for your pets well being.
Then after you left with your dog, you didn't see the clean down, floors swept, tables cleaned , surfaces wiped inc walls,to remove dog hair, . Blades oiled, messages replied to and more towels to be washed..
All of that for a price often lower than your own haircut. Your hairdresser doesn't need to bath you, clip your nails or hold you still while you are trying to work.
The truth is Dog grooming is so much more than a hair cut. It's about health ,hygiene, comfort, trust, dogs anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, safe sc******ng techniques. It's a profession that takes training, practice and lots of patience.
If your dog leaves their groomer happy healthy and looking good ,it's not by luck. It's because you have got a good groomer. Groomers deserve to be valued, As we are doing far more than just washing your dog 🐕
