Deafness is rising in the UK; by 2035, it is estimated that one in five British people (over 15 million) will experience hearing loss.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds like the smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry. Their burgundy coats also act as a visual reminder to the public when they are out and about that their partner is deaf.

Donations raised through Pennies when you pay by card help support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Just a small donation can make a big difference!

Imagine you are deaf. You can’t hear your alarm clock. You can’t hear your text
messages. You miss out on social interactions. That’s what life is like for deaf
people, and it can be very isolating. A hearing dog can make a big difference.
You can help a deaf person to leave loneliness behind by adding a donation via
Pennies to our charity of the year, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Please ask us
about making a donation when you pay by card at your next visit!

Alopecia, meaning loss of hair, is very common in cats. Although primary skin conditions can cause alopecia directly, the most common cause is over-grooming, when the cat licks excessively causing hair loss. 🐱🐾

Neutering means removing the reproductive organs; this is either the ovaries in females (known as spaying) or the testicles in males (known as castration). Neutering is a routine procedure that does not require overnight hospitalisation, with an average recovery time of 5-10 days.
