Today the 9th of April would have been Oli’s 46th Birthday. To honour this day, to help continue his support for following the naming of an Oli Juste wing, we would be grateful for any donations, big or small to be made in his name. Oli was very fond of the work that Mayhew carry out whether it be in the community, internationally, educationally or rehoming the dogs themselves and without our support this can’t continue. Please check them out if you are unaware of the great work they do.

We sadly announce the passing of Oli Juste 1976-2022.
It’s with great sadness that Oli passed away on Saturday (15/01/22) with me his fiancé Rob, sister Helene, brother Michel and my mother Jenny by his side. He had been surrounded by friends and the incredible NHS staff at St.Richards Hospital ITU, Chichester.
Our beloved dog Bernard was even able to say goodbye and share a special moment with him.
Oli was and remains an inspiration and thought changer within the worlds of both dogs and humans and his special connection with animals was evident.
Even though I find it hard to fathom what has happened, I take solace in the fact that, up to his last breath and beyond, Oli was and is helping people by being an organ donor, so there is the possibility of helping people beyond the end of his life.

I know many of you have stories to tell of your time with Oli and I would love to hear them and see photos. Through working across the globe and during his varied career he created a wide network of love and support.

As funeral arrangements are made, we hope to be able to include as many people as possible to share in the celebration of Oli’s life either in person or via live stream. If this is something you would like be a part of, please send your name and email address to [email protected] and we will make sure to send you the relevant information.

If you are a current client of Oli’s please be assured that someone will be in touch soon with a plan to discuss the completion of your training course.

So thrilled about the latest episode of my podcast, A Dog’s Best Friend! Sarah Whitehead - Dog Training, Behaviour & Education is back to talk cats! Well… to talk about what she learned about dogs whilst working with cats. A fascinating episode!

We talk about scent and scent exchange, analyse behaviours such as peeing on beds, siting on laps, rolling over and so many more.

So, if you have a dog who’s worked out how to make you work for them, maybe your dog is more of a cat than you thought.

Whilst recording this episode, to my stupefaction, I realised Bernard is a cat! If only he knew. 😉 No but seriously! Have a listen. 🎙

⛔️ ON LEAD GREETING ⚠️
Do these pictures make you feel a little nervous? They certain make me feel queasy.
The latest episode of my podcast is out!
& I discuss On Lead Greeting. 🐩
https://link.chtbl.com/4FfvUXD7

Whilst on the lead, attached to us, dogs aren’t able to make decisions for themselves and/or to create the space they need and chose, in their own time to interact with other dogs, should they want to. Incidents happen all the time, dogs are faster then humans, humans miss-read certain signals, dogs feel extremely vulnerable on the lead with no quick available exit route. It’s a perfect storm for an accident to happen. An accident that will affect your dog’s ability to feel safe again when in similar situations.

The risks associated are so high; why should we put our dogs in such situations? Everyday, I’m helping lead reactive dogs and their humans live a better, happier, easier and safer life. As the U.K. dog population increases, so do inappropriate greeting behaviours.

Under the umbrella of socialisation many think that they must “go & say Hi” to every dog they meet, even complete strangers. What’s happened to our very reasonable “STRANGER DANGER”? Others think that for a dog walk to be successful their best friend needs to have interacted with many other dogs. Is this actually the case?

The lead is our best friend and our worsed enemy. We need to know how to use it and make sure our dogs still feel safe whilst attached to us.

Please listen to this episode. Sarah, as always, is brilliant and real joy to speak to. Love having her as a guest again. So much to learn.

What a wonderful day at today! 🐶⛺️🎉 After all this time it was wonderful to be amongst so many beautiful, caring and inspirational people and their amazing dogs. Thank you for having me

On the Live Stage today we talked mental health, dog training, dog behaviour, assistance dogs, rescue dogs, police dogs, dog for therapy, vulnerability, love, bad days, good days, disabilities, fear, socks, walkies (inside joke, you had to be there), new laws, counter-conditioning, unconditional love, and so much more. My head is spinning!

I was inspired by kindness, amazed by determination and now totally with 11yo dog trainer .harper.x

Get inspired again and listen to them all on my podcast, A Dog’s Best Friend over the next three episodes. 🐶🎧

Our Story

Based in London, UK, Oli provides positive, modern, ethical dog training with an emphasis on behaviour to dogs and their owners all over the UK & Europe through his 1-on-1 Online Video sessions.

Oli’s video calls are unlike anything you would cover in Puppy Classes; he takes you through breed specific training to help your dog with potential future and present behavioural issues; he shares valuable tips to avoid any type of separation related problems, he takes you through 'Dog Park etiquette' and how to promote safe play so you don’t have aggression issues in the future, and so much more.

Over the years Oli has helped many dog owners communicate with their dogs better, and bond with them using positive reinforcement as well as science-based, force-free methods that are fun for both dogs and humans; and all that from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Oli was handpicked by world famous Pet Behaviour Counsellor, Sarah Whitehead (BA, MSc) to become a founding Licensed Trainer under her Clever Dog Company Method and was given the Extra Mile Award at the 2016 Inner Circle Convention. Oli successfully completed Dr Susan Friedman (Ph.D.)’s Learning & Living with Animals’ Course & Dr Hare’s Dog Emotion and Cognition Course at Duke University. Oli trained with Dr Susan Friedman (Ph.D.) and world-renowned animal trainer Steve Martin at his Natural Encounters Inc. ranch in Florida, gaining his Certificate of Excellence in Contemporary Animal Training & Management. Furthermore, Oli has taken Sarah Whitehead's Courses, and regularly attends seminars, classes and lectures delivered by the likes of Linda P. Case, Bob Bailey, Susan Schneider & Jean Donaldson. So, whether you already have a dog or thinking about getting one, Oli can help you every step of the way. This also includes dogs with behavioural problems such as separation issues, lead reactivity & aggression, excessive barking and more. By giving them love, teaching them trust and providing them clear boundaries you’ll help them to be calmer, happier, more contented creatures.
