Jubilee Orpingtons!

A flock was presented to Queen Victoria for her Diamond Jubilee 👸🏻.

They just had to fall into my incubator this year didn’t they?!!

My childrens pre school borrowed my incubator and I gave eggs for the kids to watch hatch. So happy they had a good successful hatch for the children to watch 8/10. And they also raised money for the school finding the chicks new homes 😊🐥❤️

Sorry to say that I am sick to the back teeth of my Buff cockerel drawing blood from me every time I enter the pen. So for this reason I won’t be breeding Buff any further this year unless I can find a decent friendly replacement. Sorry to anyone wanting Buff.

First time outside in the sunshine for these chicks at almost 6 weeks. Interestingly it’s always the gold laced chicks that take the longest to feather up.

I always look forward to doing this bit! So on day 10 of incubation I candle the eggs to check fertility and dispose of any infertile eggs 🥚. Here you can see a little embryo bobbing up and down inside this egg.

Some of my girls feathers are getting abit battered by the cockerels so Iv decided to try hen saddles this year to try and protect them.

These little guys are now 2 weeks old and have now come outside to the chick boxes. Won’t be long before they outgrow the box!
