Hollie The Life Of A Reactive Dog

Today is Hollie's 13th Birthday!!
She doesn't show many signs of aging, it's hard to see the grey hairs as she already has so much white, but I am sure her merle bits are fading a little 🤗

She seems to have accepted Tinks so far, and has been a good girl around her even with her having her first season already!!
Yesterday she even came to greet the landlord at the field and let him pet her 😱 she may actually be relaxing a bit in her old age 🤣🤣

Oh Hollie!!
You never learn 🤦🏼‍♀️

Just after I had set off to a comp with some of the other dogs I had a call to say Hollie had been injured in a scrap with brother Sprocket 😱

With a fairly deep wound I knew it needed it stitches so we headed off the the vets!
Not an easy task with a reactive dog!
I was over cautious as always, there is no point in someone getting injured because I didn't explain how she can be!!
Well she was an angel 😇 no reactions and sitting in the kennel with our so much as a whimper with nurses and other dogs about too!! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyway, I managed to set off 4 hours later to the comp and had a great time, while Hollie was looked after at home by Ashley!!

Healing nicely, she is a good healer - which is a good job, or it might just be she has bad plenty of practice 🤣🤣🤣

Think we have scars on every leg now!!
Still, not doing so bad for an old girl!!

Reactivity comes in all shapes and sizes!!
This little photo shows just how powerful Trailing can be!! ❤️

This little lad was absolutely not so sure about taking food when he found his trail layer!!
You can see his body language in the top photo!
His ears back / high, leaning as far as he can, his back legs at FULL stretch so he doesn't get too close to his trail layer!!
The 2nd photo is after his quick intensity trail, with the exact same trail layer just 30 seconds later!!
He isn't completely comfortable, but just look how much more confident he is, he is in a relaxed stance, his ears forward etc!! 😍

The power of Trailing in working with reactive or worried dogs is just amazing!! 🤗😍

Silly Sprocket got to have another taste of Mantrailing yesterday!!
It's been about 4 years since I gave him his first try - he wasn't very interested so we decided he can focus on disc dogs and leave the Mantrailing to the other dogs!!

Yesterday he seemed to really take to it, he hunted down his Misper Katie and loved the yummy food rewards at the end!

However, this morning he told me what he really thought with 💩 💩 💩 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's a VERY good job I love my dogs 🤣🤣🤣

Hollie was on almost top form this week, she had a GREAT score, coming in 2nd place in the team this week!

Hollie decided yesterday she may wear her ears differently this season!!
She invited Breeze to help with the new design 🤦🏼‍♀️

😢 Living with dogs that fight is a constant management battle, and sometimes it goes wrong!!
Yesterday while loading the non collies into the van, Hollie pushed open the gate and ran out into Breeze - Hollie is always the one who comes off worse, you would think she would learn her lesson 🤷🏼‍♀️
Our new neighbours got a chance to meet the crazy dog lady anyway 🙈 well I think it was them, I handed someone Cooper while I tried to stop the chaos 🤷🏼‍♀️
It's all a bit of a blur 😬

Hollie is back with Lenny and the Poo's tonight as she has been unsettled with Cooper and Sprocket in the kitchen in the evenings!!
