Little Rahane Farm is a privately owned smallholding which is home to a large number of rescued animals including horses, donkeys, dogs, cattle, sheep, pigs, geese and teukies.

The sheep are a whole lot lighter and much cooler now that they’ve had their annual ‘haircut’. This lot is going on our unused vegetable patch as a mulch this year. Apparently, it’s a great fertiliser as well, due to its nitrogen content.

An hour of standing hay for three of the horses today. The others are wondering why they’re not joining them. It’s because, if they just look at grass, they get fat!

A mystery this morning - the donkeys were in the garden, but all the gates were closed! No idea how they got in, and the only camera that would inform us, was offline. They were also very keen to get back out….

It’s been a grand day for harrowing and rolling the fields. Meanwhile, the horses, donkeys, goats and sheep have been lazily grazing nearby.
