Companion Care Vets Welcome to the official Companion Care Vets page Come and see for yourself at your local Companion Care, why not take a practice tour?

At Companion Care we know your pet is a much loved part of the family and you want them to enjoy a long, healthy life. This is why our veterinary teams, made up of animal loving experts, firmly believe in providing the highest level of care and treating every pet they see like they would their own. Every Companion Care practice is equipped with the latest in technology, which means we can offer yo

ur pets the personalised care they need. Our practices are also designed to make your pet’s time with us as comfortable as possible; just like kids don’t always like going to the dentist, we know pets don’t always like going to the vets! Our waiting areas are light and spacious (and with floors that can cope with little accidents) and we also have separate dog and cat wards so your pet can recuperate more comfortably after any treatment. Our vets will explain all clinical terms so you fully understand what is happening to your pet and you are fully involved in their treatment plan. This also includes being completely transparent in our pricing, so you can make an informed choice on the treatment that you want your pet to receive.

Meet gorgeous Molly who recently visited Companion Care Vets Winnersh for x-rays and a scale and polish. She recovered well and her teeth are in tip top condition now!

This is the gorgeous Molly.
She came in recently for x-rays and a scale and a polish so all her teeth are freshly cleaned.
She is loving her little blanket and the fuss from all the staff.

Feline Pancytopenia Update
Friday 16 July
The FSA has released a further update on their investigations into the rise in cases of feline pancytopenia. It is available to view here https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/news/update-from-the-food-standards-agency-and-food-standards-scotland-following-the-rise-in-cases-of-feline-pancytopenia
The FSA, together with other relevant authorities, are continuing to lead the ongoing investigations and we are supporting their efforts in every way we can.
The manufacturer's voluntary product recall of AVA dry cat food, Applaws dry cat food and Sainsbury’s Hypoallergenic dry cat food remains in place and we advise anyone feeding these diets to stop immediately. If you have any concerns about your cat, we'd recommend getting in touch with your vet as soon as possible.
Full details of the recalled products and a list of FAQs can be found here: https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-36-2021

➡️ Feline Pancytopenia Update
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published an update on its investigation into the recent rise in pancytopenia cases in cats, which is available to view here:
https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/news/update-from-the-food-standards-agency-food-standards-scotland-and-defra-following-the-rise-in-cases-of-feline-pancytopenia
The FSA, together with other relevant authorities, are continuing to lead the ongoing investigations and we are supporting their efforts in every way we can to help establish the root cause of this issue as a matter of urgency.
We would like to remind you of the manufacturer’s voluntary product recall of AVA dry cat food and Applaws dry cat food and advise anyone feeding these diets to stop immediately. If you have any concerns about your cat, we’d recommend getting in touch with your vet as soon as possible.
Full details of the recalled products can be found here:
https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-36-2021
Our hearts go out to all the owners and cats who have been affected and we are determined to do all we can to understand exactly what has happened.

16/06/2021

We are becoming aware of an increase in cats falling ill with a rare condition called pancytopenia. The issue has been identified by The Royal Veterinary College London and they are currently leading investigations in to the rise in cases.

A product recall has been issued as a precautionary measure by the manufacturer of some dry cat food ranges, whilst further investigations are carried out. Full details of the recalled diets can be found here: https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-36-2021

If you feed one of these diets we would advise you to stop feeding it immediately, and to contact the shop that you purchased it from.

Pancytopenia is a reduction in the levels of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Clinical signs include lethargy, a high temperature, pale gums, blood in the urine or faeces (faeces will usually be dark or black). Small areas of bruising to the skin or gums may also be seen. If you notice any of these signs please contact your vet immediately.

If you think your cat may have been affected please ask you vet to complete this questionnaire: https://rvc.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/pancytopenia

Our nurses provide excellent patient care in order to care for your pets to the best standard possible!! Nurses have to study one of two routes to allow them to become a veterinary nurse, that’s either a diploma route (working and studying in one) or a degree which can take 3-4 years to complete!🩺🐶

Enjoy this picture of one of our student nurses Grace, and a little pup that came in for her first vaccinations (and lots of cuddles too!!!!)💓

We hope you are all staying safe throughout this lockdown. We are grateful for all the patience our clients have shown to us!🥰
