Terry has been training dogs for most of his life. Starting as a young schoolboy he trained the family's completely untrained rescue dog basic commands like 'Sit' 'Down' 'Stay' 'Recall' 'Walk on lead' 'Leave' 'Retrieve' etc. It became Terry's daily job to take the family dog for a walk and he spent many childhood hours out walking with the dog, playing, learning, bonding and training. Terry has no
w bred, reared, trained & competed with his own dogs in hundreds of competitions, achieving many 1st places in a variety of dog sports and competing at the top levels. He started competing with his dogs 25 years ago and has competed in Sheepdog Trials, Competitive Obedience, Agility, Working sled dog Rallies, and Championship Breed Shows. Terry had his first KC Border Collie, competing at the top level of Competitive Obedience. ' C only ' . He's had 6 of his Border Collies from different generations ( Pure bred ISDS Sheepdogs ) in the County Sheepdog team ( Top 10 dogs in the County ) on 7 different years. Sometimes with 2 or 3 dogs in the team, in one year. Terry had 3 of his young Sheepdogs in the County Team for the South Wales Novice final. ( 3 out of the top 6 dogs in the County )
Terry has been training Alaskan Malamutes for Showing, Working and Obedience for the past 12 years, and qualified his first Alaskan Malamutes for Crufts in 2005, and then again for 6 years running. He also qualified 3 more of his Malamutes for Crufts in the following years. He is a Kennel Club registered Assured Breeder has worked his home bred Kennel Club registered Alaskan Malamutes in teams in the forests since 2005, and has competed in many Sled Dog Rallies. Terry has been an Obedience instructor at a few dog clubs, and has instructed the clubs instructors, who wanted to get their dogs out of Beginners and Novice, and go on to compete in the higher levels of Competitive Obedience. Terry takes dogs in for training and also gives 'one to one' lessons, and helps people with all types of training, from basic obedience to sheepdog handling. Local farmers and Sheepdog Trialists send their sheepdogs to him for training. It is them that gave him the name ' Tel the dog '
Terry has given talks and demonstrations with his dogs at Country Fairs, Local Smallholders events and at Sheepdog Trials, He has judged various dog competitions, including Sheepdog Trials and County Dog Shows, and has had his Sheepdogs filmed for TV. Terry now gives dog training lessons based on his many years of experience training hundreds of dogs, from Ring Craft, Harness training, Basic obedience, Puppy obedience and Competitive Obedience, to Gundog and Sheepdog training. Terry also has many years of experience helping owners with dogs that have aggression issues and has successfully rehabilitated many dogs, and he helps the dogs that the inexperienced behaviourists advise should be killed.
