Just disgusting! Why do people need firework night???? And this isn't just about pet dogs! This is about sheep and cows and horses, and birds and wildlife!!! Why do we humans have to inflict this - a grotesque celebration of a man being hung, drawn and quartered - on our animals, older people and people like me who don't like loud bangs etc. What is this all about???

Please don't give your dog an antler to chew! Many people give their dogs antlers to chew on, thinking they are entirely safe. Antlers are so dense that your dog could easily break their teeth on them and broken teeth are very painful and can lead to infection. This is the advice from the 'Whole Dog Journal': The biggest risk to your dog from chewing on antlers is broken teeth. Commercially sold antlers, usually deer or elk, are extremely hard with an unforgiving surface, like a rock or concrete. Would you let your dog chew on rocks or concrete? Of course not! No veterinary dental specialist will ever sign off on letting your dog chew antlers. Never. Broken teeth are painful for your dog and often lead to infection and tooth root abscesses. Fractured teeth frequently require surgical extraction, subjecting your dog to an expensive and painful procedure for something that is completely preventable. Antlers also pose a risk of cracking or splintering, thereby becoming a choking hazard, esophageal foreign body, or intestinal blockage. There are far better and safer choices for a dog dental chew. I'm afraid if any dog arrives for boarding with an antler for chewing, we will not give them it during their stay for safety reasons. Please find an alternative to an antler - like a natural raw bone - supervised of course and certainly not cooked!!! Cooked bones can splinter and are dangerous. This is Bobby enjoying his first ever bone when he came to us in August - helping Dad with the bikes!
