⁉️ DID YOU KNOW ⁉️
the phrase ‘Use it or Lose it’ is especially true for our older pets?
As our dogs enter their twilight years, their cognitive abilities and memory can decline. They may even suffer from the symptoms of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction, including confusion, toileting in the house and reduced interaction with you.
Maintaining some degree of exercise, play and mental stimulation is important to keep our dog’s minds alert and active. They may not be able to do the 5 mile hikes anymore, however they will still enjoy a gentle sniff around the neighbourhood. Introduce new toys or teach them new tricks to keep their brain working – yes you can teach an old dog new tricks!
Try and give them some predictability to their routine and think about adding some brain boosting supplements to their diets, such as omega 3 fatty acids and B vitamins.
