Happy tails! Another lovely review just received from a client:

“I had a session with Siobhan a few weeks ago with my 1 year old Cavapoo, Simba, and the changes I've seen since our session have been incredible! Simba had built up some anxiety around a few things, such as being around my wheelchair, being very reactive to certain noises and separation anxiety. He can get very bouncy and barky when excited or frustrated, and was recovering from colitis. While I was doing various things to help with these areas, Siobhan was able to find oils that he selected himself that have made massive changes in these areas.

The session itself was lovely and a fascinating experience. Siobhan gave Simba the time he needed to engage, while managing to get to a place where he could do some much deeper work to help resolve some deeper stuff going on. She was really helpful in showing me how to continue working with him and read the signs he gives me about which oils he wants when, and where he wants them.

In the weeks since our session Simba has become much calmer. Although his normal bouncy self he is barking much less, particularly when the doorbell rings and people come in. He is much calmer and quieter when we spend time with the family, and has become much more confident and relaxed around my wheelchair,

I love using the oils with Simba, and it's been a lovely way to further bond with him. I have the oils to continue using when they're needed, and have learnt more about what Simba needs and what might be going on for him when he does get anxious or frustrated” 🌾

Would you like to help your horse boost its own wellness by self-selecting plant powders, dried herbs or even aromatic oils?

Does the idea of letting your horse choose its own medicinal plant compounds sounds strange? Or scary? Or intriguing?

Have you ever seen a horse go into deep processing once it has inhaled aromatic plants that it really needs?

It’s the most wonderful gift to be able to give them. But how does it work? How do they decide which extracts to choose or ignore? 💚

If you’d like to learn more about this and so much more, for your free ticket to the 5-day (online) 2022 Animal Communicator & Healer Summit starting next Monday 19 Sept, click link : 🐴🌿

This post is JUST as important today as it was 2 years ago. Please be aware ❤️‍🩹

**IMPORTANT PLEASE READ**

It is with a heavy heart that I am telling you that a family members dog died yesterday after playing with the garden hose with my nephews.
He suffered secondary drowning and devastatingly this was fatal. He was fit & healthy; he was the tender age of 3!

Fly high Basil 💔🐾

I personally wasn’t aware of secondary drowning and play with my dogs with my garden hose to cool them down. This is one of Blake’s favourite games.

What is secondary drowning??

Your pet has likely inhaled water into its lungs, and even after coughing it up or after observing water draining from the nose or mouth, there could be residual water remaining in the lungs. This could lead to pneumonia. Secondary drowning has been known to occur, even up to three days after the initial near-drowning. Exhaustion is almost always the cause of drowning. With a hose or even a sprinkler your dog can inhale the water and this can be fatal.

🥦 BROCCOLI 🥦

This is a superfood for your dog (and you).
Broccoli contains sulforaphanes which help to slow down the rate of cancer and remove toxins from the body. It’s great for gut health, packed full of vitamins and has anti inflammatory properties.

A spoonful into your dogs food a few times a week will add all these benefits.
Boil or steam it then add into food, if they are fussy blend it and add into their food or mix with something they love.
Check out the Nutrition group on this page for more tips & check back tomorrow for a step by step guide to making bone broth.

EDIT......Thank you!
It is really great that this post has been shared so widely and that it has generated so many comments too.

Facebook did not notify me of any of the comments! That's crazy. So I apologise for my delay in responding to you all.

Thank you for being respectful of the post and to each other. Sometimes we can feel triggered by what we read and for everyone that follows my page will know that I write from the heart with positive intentions and integrity.

I have removed the post that was negative and can confirm again that I have credited Lili Chin and the authors of the infographic.

I will never try to steal or pass of another persons work as my own. I don't wish to and I don't need to.

Thank you again for all the shares and engagement. Together we can make things better.

No means I do not consent.

It means do not approach me or my dog and do not touch my dog.

Nobody is entitled to touch a dog that is not their own.
If we ask permission to say hello to a dog and we are told, 'no thank you' we are not being insulted, disrespected or rude.
If we are told, 'no thank you' the person saying no is entitled to say no, without reason, justification or explanation.
The person saying no is not being anti social, unreasonable, unfair or mean.
When a person say's no, they are not saying it because they are being selfish or because they have a bad dog or a dog that is naughty. They are saying no because they do not want their dog to be approached or touched by an unfamiliar person.

Why shouldn't we touch a dog we have never met before?

Because we don't know the dog, because the dog may not want to be touched by a stranger, because the owner said no.

Why do we feel we are compelled or entitled to touch a dog or use a dog as an experience for a child that also may not want to go near the dog or may be unpredictable and make an inappropriate approach and become insulted or defensive when we are told no?

People that say no have been sworn at, shouted at, laughed at and ignored when having to either stop strangers approaching their dogs or when declining a request.

Dogs are sentient beings, they rely on their humans to be their advocate and to protect them.
It can take time for guardian and dog to devolp a relationship based on trust and confidence.

A dog may be on their first walk out after being adopted or fostered.
They may be recovering from an injury or an incident.
They may be shy, anxious or fearful about touch at that moment in time, the owner may have experienced a trauma or situation and prefer not to have their dog approached.
Some dogs simply prefer not to be touched.

A common response is 'You shouldn't have a dog like that in public' or You shouldn't have a dog like that or you should have that dog PTS.

It can make a real difference when people are kind and empathetic.
It can be super helpful to be able to look at a dog and not approach and not ask to touch because they are content to simply observe a dog.

I am grateful to people that have empathy when they see a dog and are happy to walk on by. It's a wonderful exchange, sometimes a kind look, a smile and no attempt to encroach on our space.

When I work with dogs that are lacking in confidence, feel anxious or fearful and we are supporting them to build trust and confidence it is a gift for people to have the grace and generosity to respect and support that dog.

Working with a young, overseas dog recently, we were able to introduce him to a pub garden. We were able to sit in a space where the dog felt comfortable.
Like anything new, our dogs can find it a little challenging but with the support and kindness of all of the staff this dog had a very positive learning experience.
The dog was able to observe the surroundings, take in the scent and look at different people, process the movement and direction of travel of the people and nobody made an inappopriate approach or asked to touch him.
Good planning, effective communication and the right place at the right time ensured it was a successful and positive experience for the dog and the care giver.

A huge thank you to every person that doesn't approach an unfamiliar dog, that does ask permission before an approach and isn't offended or abusive when declined.indness costs nothing and can shine a light when things may feel a little dark.

Please feel free to share more of your experiences.

I also highly recommend this wonderful book by Lili Chin https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50999387-doggie-language

Important and very informative post. Please read it 🙏🏻

What's the truth about this dog food?

You're spending up to £10/kg ($14/kg) on human waste ingredients.

Where are the healthy ingredients in this food? What part of this is good for your dog?

To think that sick dogs, desperately needing specifically balanced, functional fresh foods, are being recommended this processed food. A generic, one size fits all, long shelf life, processed food, is deeply saddening.

The California court of appeals found there was sufficient evidence to allege that the sale of prescription pet foods through vets or with veterinary approval, was a deceptive practice and it could be considered fraud, because there were sufficient facts to show these foods were not materially different to normal dog foods.

Times are changing, but not quick enough.

We've come some far in human nutrition, yet with dogs, we are years behind. So much so, that healthcare professionals are still pushing processed foods on sick dogs. Just think, how crazy is that?

This practice is terrifying, dated and dangerous, yet people still stand by it. Totally and utterly brainwashed.

Spend less money on a specific diet for your dog. Made with wonderful fresh food ingredients that your dog will love. Recipes that change depending on the support they need. Real nutrition.

Not this. Did you know that Hill's prescription diets were involved in one of the largest food recalls last year? Hills food had toxic levels of Vitamin D, which had caused “serious health issues in dogs, including renal dysfunction" (FDA) and many dogs died.

Dog owners are supposed to trust this company with the health of their pet?

Unnatural processed foods, designed to sit on a shelf for two years without refrigeration, the sort of foods that sit next to the bleach and detergent in the supermarket, are damaging to the health of all living things, anyone who tells you otherwise is crazy.

The first two photos are from a beautiful canine client I saw yesterday, taken a matter of seconds after she inhaled organic orange blossom hydrosol (one of the 10 botanicals in my Aromatic Herbal Hampers) from my hand.

The next photo shows another gorgeous dog after inhaling and licking organic Rose Otto hydrosol (also in the hampers).

Plus purring pusscats enjoying their herb gardens.

Dogs and cats LOVE having the chance to interact & relax with plant extracts. Would you like to give yours this wonderful gift? 🌿🌸

It’s true! If you’re new to the idea of herbs & aromatics for your cat or dog… the idea might seem a little “out there”…

So instead of thinking about all the different herbs, hydrosols & essantial oil inhalers that are in each hamper, think about how your cat or dog is going to FEEL, having 10 different botanicals to choose from, to support their wellness in a gentle way, months of enriched play, or relaxation in their very own “herb garden” that you can create for them in a quiet corner of your home, as often as you feel like it!

THAT’S what’s really in the box! Believe me… they want one! 🥰🌿🎁🐱🐶🌸🌾

Have you built your fireworks night bonfire already? If so - PLEASE move everything over to a different location on the actual day you intend to light it, whether that’s tonight, or over the weekend…

We have had some particularly cold nights recently, and it’s very possible that wildlife have sheltered in it for warmth.

Bonfires should only be built on the day that you’re going to burn them, for this reason. You’ll know for next year!! 😊

But please, just get a garden fork and shift all the materials over to a fresh pile, it won’t take you long, it’s great exercise and you may save lives 🧡🦔🦔🦔

This beautiful boy is one of many currently recovering at a wildlife rescue I volunteer at. Isn’t he just gorgeous?! Hedgehogs are so adorable- let’s keep them safe. Thank you 🙏🏻 xx

Siobhan & Natural Animals moved to Langport in September 2108, and will now be mainly covering the Somerset area - but can sometimes travel further, and will also be returning to Surrey regularly, so will have limited appointments available there every 4-6 weeks. **"Zoopharmacognosy" is the term given to animals' innate ability to self-select the natural medicines they need, as they have evolved to do, and have been doing for thousands of years in the wild (domesticated animals have lost the freedom to forage for medicinal plants, but not the ability). A zoopharmacognosist does not "treat" or diagnose, but enables the animal to self-medicate in a safe and species-specific way.
