We would like to wish all our furry friends and their owners a very Merry Christmas from Ola, Wendy, Rachael, Ashleigh, Mandy and Holly at Blackwater Vets! 🎄🎄🎄
Who can relate at Christmas!!?? 😹🎄🚫
🐾 Meet three year old Jet who recently visited us for his castration. We were all on hand to give him lots of love and cuddles after his op which it certainly looked like he was enjoying! 🥰
Here at Blackwater Vets we are proud members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme. The accreditation is only given to practices that meet the high standards set by RCVS and appropriate accreditation is the primary indicator of clinical excellence in the field of veterinary medicine.
Maintaining accreditation to this voluntary scheme requires continual investment and dedication as detailed inspections are carried out every four years, with spot checks in between. Find out more here; https://animalowners.rcvs.org.uk/about-us/about-the-rcvs/
Meet Oscar the friendly feline who we believe had been in a cat fight (although he is denying all knowledge) His ear came out worse for wear, resulting in another trip to the vets! After the procedure, he was treated to lots of cuddles and strokes which he thoroughly enjoyed 🐱💙
Keeping pets quiet after surgery so they can heal and recover, can be difficult. Especially when they aren't able to go for walks as normal. We have lots of ideas for mental stimulation on our website and here's an example of a simple activity to keep dogs busy. Simply an old cardboard box with kibble, treats, chews, carrots hidden or wrapped in paper/toilet roll holders is great fun and tiring for a dog to sniff and find.

Lots of our physiotherapy patients are progressing in their exercise programmes onto polework - here is Sindy demonstrating how it should be done! 🐾
Polework is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the limb muscles and improving coordination of foot placement. This is because for the leg to be lifted up over the poles, the muscles that flex the leg up must contract 💪
Over time, we aim to raise the poles to make the exercise more challenging. Most dogs find it a fun challenge, too!
If you want to find out more abut our physiotherapy service and if it could benefit your dog, call us at the clinic and ask to speak to Lana, our physiotherapist😊
Update: our lovely Ginge is now called Theo and he found his forever home! we are very happy!
Please contact us if you are interested in rehoming this beautiful kitten.
As you probably know he did not have the best start in his life and had to have his eye removed due to sustained injury.
We would like his new home be with no other cats, cat friendly dogs possible, because he will be vulnerable so will require annual vaccinations and ongoing preventative flea and worming treatment to be followed.
Another requirement will be that he will need to stay indoors or could only be allowed to secluded garden.
If you are interested please contact Ola during our opening hours.
