Yesterday new face RAMBO had his make over. He’s a 16.2hh Irish cob gelding. The best temperament you could wish to find! Everyone here has fallen in love all ready. I’ll do some reveal photos of his glow up later.
FLICKA and new recruit RAMBO messing about in the woods today with Evie and Leo. This is the sort of thing our horses put up with on a daily basis! 😂
Headwear is the must have accessory of the season!
The foundation of any ridden relationship with your horse is good ground work. I’m not proud of myself to say that with my homebred Diego, I have allowed him to train me and created a monster. Yesterday we had a training session with David Sally Catchpole as I’ve decided it’s time for the spoilt brat to actually toe the line a bit more! One of D’s habits is not standing by the mounting block and generally being a dick so David worked on getting him to stand quietly. I’ve got lots to practice but hopefully if we can get this chaps brain engaged properly he will be a super horse. . I’m looking forward to working and learning with David in the coming weeks. Who knows I might even manage to teach the brat some tricks!
Soggy morning at Coombelands with a couple. FENDI jumped a super double clear in the British Novice for a respectable 8th. She’s really coming together now and we are excited to keep going with her.
REX is back with us as he didn’t quite suit the home who had him on trial, his full advert is is on the website now but this is a short video of him taken today at home. Such a BFG! 🦖💚💙🦖
ODDIE working away at home today so you can see what he’s all about!
Loading training this week with LEXI. Lexi came to us as a very bad loader, she was probably one of the worst I had met and knew all the tricks! As she was so strong and I was getting thrown around we decided to invest in some professional help! Micheal Peace from Think Eqqus came to see us last Monday and had an afternoons session with her. Using no force, kindness and A LOT of patience he had Lexi loading on both boxes very happily. She has a much brighter future now and we can’t thank him enough. Sometimes horses come in to the yard that have deeper rooted problems than we have time for, knowing when to call in extra help is important!
Go Tulip ! Closely followed by Ryker! 💙
Moomin had a surprise for us today. We spent today in the salon, Moomin had her first haircut and I thought she had gone a bit of a funny shape… so vet was in for something else and I asked for a quick check and I hate being right but…. She’s had some sort of one night stand before coming over and now is carrying an illegitimate mini milk. Who knows what the sire is ! But she’s a 148 cm well bred Connemara and cremello so could be dun, palomino or some sort of coloured thing.
Past the pub! Featuring Scott, Tulip and Mabel! ❤️
Video of SILVER on the flat, proving she can step it up a gear for a more capable rider or small adult! She’s loads of fun!
Today the girls were off school so we have taken a few to Felbridge for a jump round the clear round. Here’s a video of little Silver who is AWESOME fun!
Little JACK today showing how versatile he is giving sienna a ride on the lead rein. He's quite happy to switch right off for this but is a second pony off the lead rein.
That's a wrap on our 2022/23 season with the Surrey Union. Thanks to all who have made it possible, hunt staff, masters, farmers and land owners and of course our hounds. Huge thanks to everyone who's sent me nice horses to hunt and sell through the season, it's been a blast and thanks to everyone who has joined in this season and helped hunt our horses. We have had some serious fun days ( and nights! ) Thanks also to King Julian for being a committed photographer and getting some great shots of us all in action. Not sure what I'll do until August now to keep me entertained as I think I'm allergic to shows! Here's a video of some of my favourite bits.
