Super cute Alan is a sweet, gentle guinea pig, who came into the care of the RSPCA through no fault of his own. He seems quite content in his own little world, but guinea pigs are social animals by nature and thrive with company, so he is looking for a friend or two.

Alan is around two years old and has been castrated, and so is nearly ready to begin his next chapter. He is currently living indoors and would be able to go outside in the spring.

Alan is looking for a peaceful indoor life with a female guinea pig companion or even a friendly herd where he can show his calm, laid back personality. He is a gentle, slightly shy guinea pig, who enjoys quiet moments, snuggling up in is cosy hideout and munching on fresh hay.

If you have a lonely guinea pig in need of a friend, or perhaps a group of guinea pigs Alan could join, please get in touch with Jane on 07748 307869 or [email protected]

Let’s find Alan his perfect home.

Harriet, four, and Marvin, six, are a lovely pair of friendly white bunnies, who came into RSPCA care when they were sadly abandoned. Harriet is very affectionate and fond of being hand fed treats and Marvin is full of fun and mischief.

This pair of rabbits are delightful to watch as they have a very close bond. They keep each other company, forage for food, or just have a snooze together. Once they see you coming, they are ready to greet you by hopping around your feet in the hope that you have brought them some tasty leaves.

Harriet and Marvin appreciate plenty of shelter to cosy up together, so a large hutch and a predator proof run 3m x 2m x 1m high is essential, but a shed or summerhouse would also be very suitable for this couple. Harriet and Marvin could also be indoor rabbits if you are looking for a pair to live in your home.

They are both neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped and can live with children of primary school age. If you are looking for friendly rabbit companions, then this pair could be the duo for you.

If you would like to give this delightful couple a forever home, please get in touch on 07748 307869 or [email protected] for more information.

Cheeky is a sweet lionhead rabbit, named after his amazing cheek fur and mane. He has a very close relationship with his cute little pal, Dezza, a Netherland Dwarf, who is never far away, whether they are playing or resting.

Cheeky and Dezza are a pair of four-year-old bonded boys and have been together since they were very young, so must be rehomed together. They are always keen to see their fosterer and wait at the gate of their run when she approaches. Cheeky likes to be handfed treats and both also love to have fun in and out of tunnels or boxes. They like to explore and find the treats that their fosterer hides for them.

These rabbits are gentle and have great characters and will be lovely pets for anyone who can spend time getting to know them. Dezza likes to be stroked, but being rabbits both are not keen on being picked up.

They are microchipped and up to date with their vaccinations so are hoping to find their forever home very soon. Their accommodation will need to offer a hutch of at least 0.8m x 0.6m x 0.6m and a run that gives them exercise space of 2m x 3m x at least 1m high. They can live with children of primary school age. Please get in touch on 07748 307869 or [email protected] if you would like to meet them.

Ash and Angel are three-year-old siblings. Ash is a stunning dark grey bunny, and Angel is a beautiful Agouti and white rabbit. Both are gentle and shy, and really happy to be living together, as they have a very close bond.

Ash likes to jump up on top of his hutch to sunbathe, or watch what’s going on in the garden, so he is good company if you are a gardener. Angel is often busy organising their living space, so that they have comfy places to sit together.

These bunnies get on very well with their fosterer who handfeeds them treats. They also enjoy spending time investigating enrichment objects, such as boxes and tunnels.

If you have the patience to let these lovely young rabbits get to know you, you will be well rewarded when they are waiting for you by the gate at supper time. They are neutered, microchipped, and up to date with their vaccinations, so are hoping to find their forever home soon. They could live with a family that have children of five plus.
Ash and Angel will need a large hutch that is at least 6ft x 2ft x 2ft, and a run that gives them permanent exercise space of 60 sq ft. Advice can be given as to how to set up a rabbit-friendly living environment.

Could these two beauties be the bunnies for you? Please contact Jane on 07748 307869 or [email protected] for more information.

Please share this post and let’s get these two lovely bunnies a home.

This is beautiful Bagheera, who is now 1 year old. She likes to play and is very inquisitive. She also thinks human food is better than her own! Bagheera came to us with her two sisters. They have now been adopted and Bagheera has been patiently waiting for her forever home.

Bagheera is so different from when she first came to us, as she was totally shut down and did not want to be around humans. She now loves living with her foster family, but if visitors come round she will still hide until they have gone. She would like to live either on her own or with another chilled cat, but not a dog.

This lovely girl is still not quite comfortable with being picked up, but enjoys eating her lick-e-lix from your hand. Her new owner will need to spend some more time working with her. Bagheera will take a little time to settle in, but when she does, you will see a lovely, playful, inquisitive girl.

We are looking for a quiet home, preferably with someone who is there all day so Bagheera can cuddle up in her donut bed next to them. She will need to stay indoors for a significant amount of time before she can start to explore outside.

If you think you can provide a calm and nurturing environment for Bagheera, please contact Elaine at [email protected] for more details.

On Remembrance Day we remember the fallen, both people and animals.

The lesser known symbol of remembrance for animals that served during wartime is the purple poppy. The symbol was created in 2006 based on the traditional red remembrance poppy.

In contemporary service, most animals in the United Kingdom military are working dogs.

Historically, the greatest number of animal casualties in conflict has been horses.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Your Will is an opportunity to provide for the people and causes that matter most to you.

Have you ever thought about leaving a legacy in your Will for local animals in need? You could consider RSPCA Buckinghamshire South Branch for your gift. We are a separate registered charity from the main RSPCA, and operate at a local level to support vulnerable animals.

• We look after and rehabilitate animals that have been treated cruelly.
• We foster and rehome animals in need.
• We can help with vet fees for those who require it.
• We educate the public on animal welfare and the prevention of animal cruelty.
• We fundraise locally and via our three shops to fund our work.

We rely on donations for funding. Legacies form an important part of our income, enabling us to plan for the future.

You may wish to leave a gift in your Will because you have a connection to our charity, or simply because you want to help animals in your area.

01/11/2024

These delightful kittens are just about to start the vaccination process and are looking for their forever homes. Three of them have short fur, and the one with the white nose is a long-haired kitty.

They are looking to go out in two pairs as they dote on each other. They enjoy playtime and cuddling up when they are sleepy. The kittens can live with children over the age of 4 and are used to living with a gentle dog and a cat. They must remain indoors until they have been neutered, but can then be introduced to the outdoors.

If you are looking for a pair of kittens and can provide a loving home, please contact Elaine at [email protected] for more details.

Thinking about what to do with pumpkins after Halloween? They can be fed to animals, but are not suitable for all so take care.

• Gerbils, rats, mice and hamsters can eat both the pumpkin and the seeds in small amounts.
• Rabbits can eat fresh pumpkin in moderation.
• Degus, chinchillas and guinea pigs should not be fed any pumpkin or pumpkin seeds at all.
• Pigs, sheep, geese, ducks, goats and chickens can all eat fresh pumpkins.
Remember, it is illegal to feed any kitchen scraps to these animals, so make sure you are not feeding them leftovers from carved pumpkins or pumpkins that have been prepared in any way in a kitchen.
• Foxes, squirrels, birds and badgers can eat pumpkins, but they can be toxic to hedgehogs.

Enjoy Halloween everyone.

Our current wooden cat pens are no longer fit for purpose, and we need to replace them with UPVC ones.

This is an expensive outlay for us as a branch, so we need to raise as much money as possible. Although we are affiliated with the national RSPCA, our branch is a self-funding local charity, and we rely on the generosity of the South Bucks community.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, we are extremely grateful. We have made a great start to fundraising. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider visiting our fundraising page to give what you can.

Small animals and fireworks

• Many small animals find fireworks scary, so plan ahead for firework season.
• Partly cover outside cages and pens with blankets so they are soundproofed and hidden, leaving an area for animals to look out.
• Provide extra bedding for small animals to burrow in.
• Consider bringing animals indoors - this will need to be done gradually, so start a few days before.

Visit https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/general/fireworks
for more information about pets and fireworks including a useful video.

Have a safe and fun firework season.
