Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a Registered Charity (No. 1163184) set up to rehome and care for unwanted and abandoned animals. We are unique in that we tend to rehome the more “unusual” animals, that might not otherwise find a loving home, though we do also currently have cats, dogs and rabbits living with us. The majority of our animals come from other organisations - we have forged a relationship
with the local RSPCA, for example - and we work to ensure that all animals receive the best attention that they deserve. We also work with the British Hen Welfare Trust (to rescue battery hens) as well as the local community who approach us directly about animal rehoming needs. Our charity status was obtained in August 2015 and, through this rigorous process, we have demonstrated our commitment to ensure all animals in our care receive the highest level of care, attention and support to lead happy, healthy lives. We have a team of dedicated staff who work at the Sanctuary and offer a visits programme for local schools and the wider community to find out more about us.

Another rescue closed.
We are losing rescues at a daily rate. This is so sad.
Please help us not be the next one to close.
We have a full set up all we need is a new location. A new site to carry one what we do so well for people and animals alike.
Do you know of any plots of land for sale ?
Do you know anyone that would rent us land on a long tern basis ?
Can you donate so we can buy land ?
Would you invest so you can buy land with us.
We need at least 5 acers ideally 10 but can work with 5. We need some option for building for an office and break room for volunteers. A cat room, a reptile room and an animal hopsital. Running water and electric. We could use containers if needs be.
Please email [email protected] will any suggestions or offers of help.
There is soooo many ways you can help.

Sad new 😢
Our beautiful goat ceri has passed away.
She will be misses so much. Ceri was a very calming force in the herd as one of the original group. She lived her life with her kids and other friends. She enjoyed 10 years of a free range life with nice warm sheads to hide from the rain, as Ceri wasnt a fan of the rain. She now leaves Geraldine as our only original gaot.
Ceri will be cremated and return to the sanctuary.
If you can help us with the cost of an individual cremation please donate. This is the last bit of care we can give her.

No home offers for Oreo or Bobcat since their posts😢. So trying again. Please like and share and togther let's get these boys a home.
Oreo is a BBBB Beautiful Big Black Boy.
Oreo has FIV but has NO known health problems and has been supper healthy whole time he has been with us.
Bobcat is an older gent that needs some tlc. Do you have tlc to give Bobcat ?
Bobcat is FIV positive and has ongoing eye flare ups. He needs eye cream whenever they are sore and he just wants someone to love him.
Due to FIV they both need an indoor home or home with a secure catio.
If you can offer Oreo or Bobcat a safe forever home together or separately please fill out the cat matching form.
While the temperatures are so cold please consider supporting your local garden wildlife battle through the cold and keep themselves warm.
With reduced daylight hours for foraging and reduced natural sources a helping hand can go a long way. Wildlife use a lot of their energy gained from food to keep warm in the cold spells so support is really important this time of year.
Lots of commercial calorie-rich foods birds mixed are available such as multi seed mix, sunflower seed, nyjer seed and good quality peanuts. However you can also offer Kitchen scraps like mild grated cheese, bruised fruit, cooked rice, unsalted bits of hard fat, roast potatoes and dry porridge oats .
Corvids, blackbirds ect mealworms and suet will be appreciated.
Hedgehogs will appreciate some meat flavored cat food.

After all the press we have had we want to let our new supports know what is happening.
🐈🫏🐖🐏🐑🐐🦔🦇🦃🐓🕊🦆🦢🐦⬛🪿🐌
The Lease on our current premises is expiring and sadly our landlord will not renew or extend our lease as he wants to move back in himself. We therefore need to find alternative premises for the sanctuary or we will close down.
💚What do we need💚:
We need around 12 acres with appropriate buildings, or space to create them – and estimate this will cost around £600,000.
🙌What can you do to help🙌:
Idlewild Animal Sanctuary (Property) Limited has been set up as a vehicle to raise this money, where people can invest to help us and hopefully gain a return in exchange.
We are offering shares in the new property to individuals and businesses at £50 per share with a view to raising the funds. Should we be unsuccessful in raising the money, then the shareholders will either have the option of treating the share value as a donation to Idlewild, or selling all, or some, back to the Company at the price paid. The donations will then go towards funding the sensitive relocation and rehoming of what will then be homeless animals.
If we can not raise all the funds we will look to rent as a last resort before closing.
If you can donate please donate here. We will use the funds to buy land or to pay upfront rent.
We are home to around 100 animals and we support around 50 volunteers.
Many of our resident animals are elderly and or have disabilities they need the expert care we can offer.
We offer a rehoming service to pet/companion animals that people can not longer care for. Without us who would care for these animals. We match people with companion animals that enriches thier lives with a new friend.
We offer a very high level of wildlife rehabilitation and these wildlife animals need us. As do the people that refer animals to us, as without Idlewild there will be no one to help them get the animal safe.
To our volunteers we are a lifeline. We support people with learning difficulties, mental health disorders and those facing loneliness. Many of our volunteers didn't leave the house before coming to Idlewild. For some people this is the only reason they get up in the morning or the only time they leave the house. We encourage development, build self esteem, creat friendship. If we close where will our volunteers get this support ?
For all these reasons and more we need your support to stay open.
Idlewild Animal Sanctuary was set up in 2015 as a registered charity to provide care to wild, exotic, domestic and farm animals and birds, rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing and rehoming, and providing a safe haven for those needing lifelong care. About the Sanctuary
Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a Registered Charity (No. 1163184) set up to rehome and care for unwanted and abandoned animals.
We are unique in that we tend to rehome the more “unusual” animals, that might not otherwise find a loving home. We are specialist in animals that are elderly, have additional needs due to illness or disabilities who requiring that extra care. We offer lifelong homes where necessary alongside our rehoming service where animals are taken in and then found loving forever homes.
Animals come into our care from a range of different situations this includes injured, abandoned, stray and neglected animals. We work with other charities including the British Hen Welfare Trust and Fresh Start for Hens (who rescue commercial egg producing hens), as well as the local community who approach us directly about animal rehoming needs.
The animals currently in our care includes: Cats, Dogs, Rabbits, Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Donkeys, Horses.
Our charity status was obtained in August 2015 and, through this rigorous process, we have demonstrated our commitment to ensure all animals in our care receive the highest level of care, attention and support to lead happy, healthy lives.
We have a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who work at the Sanctuary and offer a high level of care and compassion to all our animals.
The sanctuary moved from Llanfairfechan to the Conwy Valley in May 2018. This was a large undertaking and now the Center Manager along with our volunteers are busy at work developing the site. We are in the process of creating all the animal enclosures and putting in the infrastructure, working toward being open to the general public. We hope to be able to welcome you all the sanctuary in the near future.
