Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a Registered Charity (No. 1163184) set up to rehome and care for unwanted and abandoned animals. We are unique in that we tend to rehome the more “unusual” animals, that might not otherwise find a loving home, though we do also currently have cats, dogs and rabbits living with us. The majority of our animals come from other organisations - we have forged a relationship

with the local RSPCA, for example - and we work to ensure that all animals receive the best attention that they deserve. We also work with the British Hen Welfare Trust (to rescue battery hens) as well as the local community who approach us directly about animal rehoming needs. Our charity status was obtained in August 2015 and, through this rigorous process, we have demonstrated our commitment to ensure all animals in our care receive the highest level of care, attention and support to lead happy, healthy lives. We have a team of dedicated staff who work at the Sanctuary and offer a visits programme for local schools and the wider community to find out more about us.

We have a VERY exciting fundraiser starting very soon.

We have a number of unique portraits of Idlewild animals coming up for auction to raise money for the sanctuary. Each one has been specially made by our wonderful supporters and features an Idlewild resident. Each winner will receive a one of a kind artwork plus an information sheet and photograph of the animal.

Can you recognise any of our gorgeous friends in these sneak peeks??

Please follow and share the auction page where the artwork will be shared over the next week before starting bids on September 2nd. 💜

Rescue is all about working togther.

This week we took in 9 birds from an excellent local rehaber. The rehaber has lots of very poorly animals needed one to one care, so we have taken on some the more advance birds to take the pressure off. The rehaber has done all the hard work with these birds it now just feeding and getting ready for release.

We always need to support each other and help out where we can.

Welcome to Idlewild little ones.

Thank you to the people that have sent donations. All these have arrived today so far.

As you all know, we have to move the sanctuary as our lease is coming to an end. We have a massive task on our hands to raise the required funds to make this happen.

We need to move all our animals, many with disabilities and want to stay local so we can continue to support our amazing volunteers.
Many of our volunteers rely on the sanctuary massively for the therapeutic resources that we offer to people with mental health and additional learning needs. For some volunteers, coming to the sanctuary is the only time they leave the house and this really helps to beat loneliness. We just cannot close and have our volunteers lose this support.

We need your support more than ever.

There are some ways to help.

One: You can donate via https://gofund.me/42ba8af5

Two: You can buy shares in our next property as an investment for you and to help us get a new site https://iasproperty.co.uk/?fbclid=IwY2xjawEwHxFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHbLqdnsh9bFCXMG6zIkJ32qhiUt34FnR9YalS0u-OveKhExWPv-c_USuvg_aem_425K6oTLqwIL17PCGW7jBg

Tonight we are devastated to say our Wilma went to sleep for the last time.

We did evey test we could and wanted so much to help her. It is still a mystery what Wilma's illness was but sadly she never got better.

We will miss her loveable face and kind soul. Gertie her sister will be lost without her.

The team are all heartbroken 💔

This is a story of people working togther for the good of the animals.

This is Eria and Gwyn that came in to us last week in partnership with the RSPCA Aberconwy Animal Welfare Clinic & Branch in Llandudno Junction.

Kelly the practice manager stepped in to help these two kittens in need after another local vets wanted to put them to sleep.

Both kittens have serious eye conditions requiring surgery but thankfully the eye specialist at Vets 4 Pets in Pets At Home Llandudno has agreed to take on thier case and the junction clinic is working to secure the funds for the treatment. Eria needs an enucleation (eye removal) urgently plus reconstructive surgery on the other eye due to severe case of entropion (eye lids turning inwards and damaging the eye) and Gwyn needs surgery for entropion too.

We are not in position to financially take on more animals especially with the pending move (if we can not fundrais enough money we may need to close) but we can offer high level care. We have been able to offer care and a safe space while the clinc in junction are offering funding and Vet 4 Pets are offering specialist veterinary treatment.

These two are the happiest kittens ever and so loving. I'm sure you will agree Kelly did the best thing in getting them help.

Togther these kittens will get the treatment the care and a happy ever after.
