As a Kennel Club registered breed club we are home to the official Breed Health Co-ordinator. That's why we are compiling a report to identify any emerging health issues.
We have been asked in particular if any of the following have been seen:
Eye problems
Hip/Elbow dysplacia
Epilepsy/seizures
Liver issues
Heart problems
Please tell us your experience by dm and, if you are happy to do so, the breed lines of the dog affected. Confidentiality is assured.
Your answers will help to keep the breed as healthy as possible.

A fabulous day yesterday at our 'Have a go with your Griff' training sessions with trainer Chris Guest. The weather was kind and the rain held off to just before the end which was great! Thank you to all who came, it really was a great day. Everyone and the dogs enjoyed the training, meeting new people, supporting each other and got new ideas and techniques to use, which is what it is about. A lovely group of people morning and afternoon sharing their stories about their dogs and having fun. Thank you to Chris for supporting us in being able to put this training on and to our own human dummy thrower 😄Dean for his help and support on the day.

The Griffs have a new Breed Notes editor!!
Jeanne Walker, who knows a lot about showing dogs, has been invited (and accepted) the mantle for Our Dogs.
Jeanne said: "I have just started a new job for OUR DOGS Canine Dog Paper. I will be your representative for the Korthals Griffon and for receiving all your Dog Show placings each week, as long as you send them to me. They can then go into the Breed Notes each week. Show wins, breed club news, general news on the breed, Open and Champ Show placings please. The deadline for me is 10am on a Monday so please send your details in, well before to get them typed up on time."

**REMINDER** to those searching for a PUPPY KG… the club will help you find a RESPONSIBLE breeder.
We love how much interest we get from people asking when a litter will be available. However we understand that the wait for this due to the limited responsible breeding in the U.K. can be a while.
Please, when searching for a puppy and making your decision you do your CHECKS carefully on the responsibility that breeders are taking. Make sure that the parents are not too closely related, check that claims of achievement are valid, where possible check on the dam and sire and any health records available.
The club will always be willing to answer any questions and share information or offer advice whenever required. Please ensure you do your research and set yourself up for the best possible addition to your family. They’re worth the wait! 🤎🤍

Kipp is looking for a new home.
Kipp is a neutered, nearly 7 year old KG male with a great personality, immense loyalty and intelligence. He is energetic and needs around 2 hours of exercise per day with 50% of that off the lead. He loves being with people, especially the ones that he has bonded with, which takes a while at his speed. Kipp is house/crate trained and lives with a lovely family in East Sussex.
However, Kipp has several issues, separation anxiety, distressed and destructive if left alone, excited with other dogs so far as to hump them, will disappear if not kept on top of, hates the Vets and has to be muzzled/sedated.
The owners have found that since having their first child, they do not have the time to keep up the training, exercise, program, needs and relationship that Kipp demands. They have thought long and hard over the last 4 months since first contacting me at Rescue, but feel that rehoming to someone who has more time to invest in Kipp would be the best solution for him.
Below are several images and I have a full appraisal of Kipp for anyone interested in taking on this lovely looking KG. I would recommend that only experienced KG owners or HPR owners would be suitable.

Great fun and a wonderful way to walk off the previous day's excesses🤣🤣
Location - Westonbirt Arboretum, Tetbury, Gloucestershire

Arrival time - 0930 for 1000hrs to start the walk.
Meeting Place - Inside the main entrance close to the horseshoe and the toilets.
The group can walk together all the way around the wood and then people can go around again depending how energetic they feel. There is a cafe that has lots of outside seating and fab cakes.
The record is 16 dogs so far and we hope to welcome more this year.

So we went for test walk of the stunning location for the Club’s Christmas walk🎉🎉🎉 FABULOUS!!!
We did the full thing, but lots of short cuts for those who don’t want to go as far.
The Deer Park is perfect. Off lead 95% of the way and not too muddy.
Great welcome at the cafe and shops too!

We have the Korthals Griffon Club GB walk arranged for both members AND non members!!! Come and join the fun on 03/12/23 in Staffordshire at a stunning location - The Deer Park at Hoar Cross. An event has been created on the page under the events tab and is pinned at the top of the page. Please confirm that you are going or if you are not going to be able to attend by selecting the relevant option on there.
There is a Buffet available at £11.00 per head and we will put the payment details on the event. If you would like to preorder a full roast dinner which will also be available, you can do this directly but please specify you are with the club to ensure you are served with us.

Well we are all set up and ready to go! CRUFTS - Discover Dogs in Hall 3a Stand - G14 Looking forward to seeing you. There will be some amazing dogs for you to meet.
It's not long until our Follow on Scentwork Workshop in Wiltshire with Positive Connections on Saturday 21st May 1-4pm which we are all looking forward to! The morning session for beginners is sold out and we have very limited space for our afternoon follow on session that is aimed at dogs who previously attended our October 2020 workshop or who have other online or classroom scentwork experience with your dog able to find clove. 🐾 This session will be taking your scentwork to the next level and will be focusing on working in different search areas, your handling skills, reading your dogs body language, indication once you've located the scent and will finish with a fun competition! 😁 Bookings will close at midnight tomorrow Wednesday 12th May.
