The release video!! 🦅
Last month Cambrian Vets and Milfeddygon Dolgellau joined forces to help a young buzzard with a broken leg.
The bird underwent an operation to stabilise the break.
4 weeks later after being in the expert care of Airbourne warriors the leg had healed and the buzzard was released back into the wild! 🦅
If you would like to donate to our wildlife charity please call to make a payment over the phone or pop into one of our practices where you can find a donation pot on the front desk! 🐾💚

Summer tips for cats! 🌞
As summer is approaching we would share some facts and tips from how to keep cats cool in summer to what to do when you're going on holiday.
Travelling in the car with your cat ⚠
If you are travelling with your cat this summer, then there is much to consider.
💚You’ll want to consider getting a good, secure cat carrier. A small dog crate may be more appropriate for longer journeys.
💚Keep ventilation at an optimum and never leave your cat in a parked car, cats are just as likely to die in hot cars.
💚Cat’s senses are extremely sensitive, music at top volume could be torture for your cat.
💚Your cat can also pick up on your feelings very easily so stay calm to keep them calm.
We offer a large range of calming products in practice, including calming oral capsules, collars, sprays and plug in diffusers.
Summer tips for dogs! 🌞
As summer is approaching we thought we would share some facts and tips from heatstroke to traveling with your dog in the car!
Let's talk heatstroke ⚠
Some symptoms of heatstroke can include:
⚠Elevated breathing rates
⚠Dry or sticky gums
⚠Abnormal gum colour
⚠Bruising in the gums
⚠Lethargic or disorientated
⚠Drooling
⚠Vomiting and diarrhoea
To prevent your dog getting heat stroke:
💚Never leave your pet unsupervised outside on hot days.
💚If you go out on a hot day, leave your pet indoors in a room with a fan or air conditioning.
💚If your pet is playing or sitting outside, ensure they have access to fresh water, shade and shelter away from direct sunlight.
💚Walk your dog in the morning or later at night to avoid dangerous temperatures - or not at all, if the temperatures are dangerously high.
💚Do not leave your dog alone in a parked car - heat builds quickly in vehicles, even on sunny days that aren’t too hot for humans.

Lets talk getting lost and micro chipping! ⚠
During the summer when the weathers a lot warmer, doors and windows are more likely to be left open. This gives cats a greater chance at sneaking out to explore the outdoors, who can blame them for wanting to sunbathe out in the garden!
Getting your cat micro chipped before summer is the best way to permanently identify them, and greatly increases the chances of them being returned to you if they turn up somewhere they shouldn’t be! 💚
Micro chipping can be done with us during a consultation time or whilst your cat is with us for a surgical procedure! Microchips are implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades – it's a very quick procedure that takes just a few seconds.

Let's talk sunburn! ⚠
Dogs can get sunburn which can lead to skin cancer in dogs. The development of cancer often requires surgery for treatment to remove the affected area.
You can help minimize the risk of sunburn in your dog by keeping them inside on very sunny days, keeping them in the shade and apply dog-friendly sunscreen! Just like us, dogs can have protective sunscreen applied to protect skin from sun damage. Apply it to the nose and ears especially, but anywhere where the fur is thin. If your skin would burn, so would theirs.
We sell pet friendly sunscreen in practice but it can also be found on sites like amazon too! 🌞

There are a number of diseases that can cause nausea and vomiting in dogs, from life-threatening intoxications to something as harmless as motion sickness from car rides.
A frequent cause of sickness that often results in dramatic episodes of vomiting is scavenging behaviour, which is natural to dogs 🐶
Depending on its intensity, duration and cause, vomiting can result in severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which will affect all of your pets’ bodily functions.
So, what can you do in these situations? Watch our video to find out 👀
Watching your pet have a seizure can be very frightening, and owners can be caught off guard when this happens.
Fits can have different presentations ranging from localised tremors to pets losing consciousness, shaking uncontrollably, vocalising, and paddling.
Afterwards, it is normal that they feel disoriented for a while.
If your pet has a fit, please try to remain calm as this will be the only way you can help them.
Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is a frequently diagnosed problem in cats, with overweight animals and those who don't exercise often seeming to be more at risk.
As there are many conditions that can cause FLUTD, please talk to our team if you notice your cat is having problems urinating. Some of these, like complete urethral obstructions, are medical emergencies and can be fatal if left untreated ⚠️
