Woodfield Dog Rescue HQ opened its shelter doors in November 2017, as a small part of the existing charity The Woodfield Foundation, registered charity number 1140114, which was founded in 2010. Our passion is spay and neuter of dogs and cats for which we have a dedicated campaign, Mildred’s Mission, established in 2019. This includes funded clinics for pets with owners as well as several TNR (tra

p, neuter, release) programmes. We have proudly worked in partnership with Happy Tails Animal Rescue, otherwise known as Madalina Didilescu and Dennis Rasmussen, for a number of years and continue to do so, with our combined focuses aligning well in their new direction. Excitingly, due to the ongoing success of Mildred’s Mission and incredible support from our Woodfield family, we are now also able to provide financial support from Mildred’s Mission funds to several other organisations who share our passion for spay and neuter. The legacy for one little broken dog whom nobody cared about until we came along is now making a difference across the globe ❤️

Welfare is very important to us and our charity has in the past funded kennel builds, a clinic including necessary medical equipment, a mother and puppy unit, improved drainage, provided funding for veterinary care and food. Although our focus is now almost entirely on our spay campaign, we are extremely proud of the welfare improvements we have contributed to. Our charity no longer takes dogs for rehoming as we have reached capacity for what can responsibly be managed with our provision of Rescue Back Up for our adopted animals. We are a very small team consisting of:
Janet - Founder and Trustee
Nat - Trustee and Fundraising
Linda - Fundraising and Accounts
Izzy - Digital Marketing Manager

POEM OF A DOG
I'm the one who's always waiting for you.
Your car has a special sound that I have imprinted on my senses, I can recognize it in a thousand.
Your steps have a magic bell.
Your voice is music to my ears.
If I see your joy, it makes me happy!.
Your scent is the best.
Your presence moves my senses.
Your waking up wakes me up
I contemplate you sleeping and for me you are my God, I am happy watching your sleep.
Your look is a ray of light.
Your hands upon me, hold the lightness of peace and the sublime display of infinite love.
When you leave, I feel a huge void in my heart.
I keep waiting for you again and again.
I am the one who will wait for you all your life today, tomorrow and forever:
I am your dog.

Woodfield Dog Rescue

Our small dog rescue shelter is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and opened in November 2017. It was the realisation of a dream of our founder, Janet, following her working at the Boldesti Public Shelter in Romania.

In 2017 Janet felt she could no longer just support the shelter and the volunteer, Mădălina, from afar and felt compelled to visit. Before setting off to Romania, Janet raised funds by doing a ‘sponsored slim’ for her spaniel, Bella. The funds raised from this were used to fund our first ever 3-day spay clinic.

The trip to the Boldesti Shelter in Romania was life-changing for Janet, and upon returning home, she quickly arranged for a mini-shelter to be built so that some of the dogs she had met in Romania could be brought over here to safety. To see our dogs for adoption please click here.

Since then we have continued to raise funds to bring dogs over here, and ensure they go to loving and kind homes.
