Did you know that unneutered female rabbits are at high risk of developing womb cancer, and unneutered rabbits are more likely to fight. Email us if you can’t afford to neuter your bunnies and we’ll see if we can help: [email protected]

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Due to safety risks we are no longer accepting these soft/ bag type carriers for bunnies boarding with us.
REASONS BELOW
1. When travelling in a car your rabbit has no protection should you have to break hard or are in an accident.
2. We can not transport your rabbits safely should we need to take them to the vets while boarding with us.
3. Rabbits chew them and this makes them an escape risk. Imagine if they did this in your car while you were driving 😱
4. We can not store these in your rabbits boarding lodge as they will chew them and we cannot disenfectent them should they have urinated etc in them.
5. On checkout day we need to place your your rabbit in their carrier so they are ready for collection this could be for a minimum of 10 to 15mins and longer if you are running late.
We can not do this safely in a fabric carrier.

These type of carriers were never designed for rabbits they are for carrying small dogs or cats .
They are Handbags not pet carriers !

I’ve added the link to the pet carrier we use for our bunnies but you can get suitable hard plastic carriers from other retailers.
Please make sure you new pet carrier is big enough for your rabbits to move about and lay down when they are in it.

LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE OUR FIRST TRY OUT LOAN!!! woo hoo!
ANNOUNCEMENT of new Wrabbit Socks Loan/Try Out Service (UK only) . . Thanks to a very very kind donation of some more Wrabbit Socks for Sore Hocks we are now able to offer a 'try out' service for carers of sore hock rabbits who want to know whether their rabbit will take to Wrabbit socks, and what size they will need. The socks we are able to loan for a Try Out are just for the purposes of sizing and ensuring your rabbit does not dislike wearing socks to such an extent they cannot be kept on. (We have never had this issue at all). These are an older pair (fully washed!!) and do not provide the full padding and comfort of a brand new pair of fabulous Wrabbit socks so will not act in the same way to protect the hock fully. However given the cost of Wrabbit Socks (fully understandable for annexcellent product) and the delay in getting them from Denmark because of customs . . and consequent concern that you may end up with the wrong size etc etc . . we feel this loan service would benefit special needs rabbits whose owners are catious about purchasing from the fabulous Wrabbit . and helping special needs rabbits is what we are all about at Parsleys Warren! Obviously we will fully wash between rabbits, would request you pay p and p both ways, and wash before returning. Apologies but we cannot loan to rabbits who have infected hocks.

Popcorn & Rufus are settling in nicely. i've left the perspex shutters on the doors today because its cold and windy, but sunny, so the shed is lovely and cosy ... so cosy that Popcorn didn't wake up until I tossed a leaf at her (after I'd watched her doing adorable little tooth purrs as she dozed) before Rufus got all the lunch!

It is common on social media to see rabbits being taken out of their home environment on 'days out', but is this right?

Rabbits are very particular over their home environment and like to map out where their safe places are, creating a network across their community space of entrances, exits and cover.

When we take rabbits to new places for short periods of time, they will desperately seek to map out where is safe and where is not. When unable, they will act frantic. If they feel unsafe and unable to make decisions, rabbits will self soothe by grooming their face and paws, this is called 'avoidance behaviour'. You will also see them standing on their back legs a lot, this is them trying to find cover and being alerted to danger above.

Taking your rabbit out of their home territory should only be done for health and welfare reasons: vets and boarding for example and they should then go straight back to where they know as soon as possible.

Taking your rabbit out for the day in no way benefits your rabbit, in fact much the opposite. The nature of rabbits as a species is to stay where they know and feel safe. They should always stay with their warren members at all times so taking one rabbit out away from their companion/s should never ever be done.

Not to mention the increased risks of disease and viruses. Parasites are commonly picked up which can be found in long grass and where dogs have been toileting.

Predators themselves could also easily sn**ch a rabbit. In 2019, a rabbit was picked up by a seagull in a UK park while free roaming and carried off. This could also happen with birds of prey and cats, dogs and other predators.

BBBB does not support the taking of rabbits out excursions as one of our welfare & wellbeing policies.

We are looking for models! Twig & Nibble is getting a new website with lots of jangly bells and blowy whistles on it and we need photos of your bunnies enjoying our products. We've seen some gorgeous ones over the last few years but they've slipped down our feeds and are too far away to find. If you have great pictures that you wouldn't mind being used them get in touch. NOTE: They MUST be in focus! They must be very bright and sharp, well composed and clearly show your bunny and the products. If we use your photos you will get a special gift in the post! Pop them in the comments section or email us at [email protected] 🙂

Hello..hello! Since losing Dudley on Christmas Eve and now having zero bunnies here at Wildacre Warren would any of my old clients be interested in boarding here again? (yes yes okay it IS a bit wierd not having any plus I no longer have any product testers for Twig & Nibble!) - I was thinking of just the one spot of our 10x 6 shed which can be heated in the colder months. It will take a little while to get re-vamped for boarding again but should be ready by the end of March.
Would this be of interest to anyone?

I absolutely hate these local sites that add you without your consent. I just came across this from 2014 when I was The Warren Bunny Boarding. I don't know if this reviewer actually stayed with me because I destroyed all my records when I closed the business as is correct GDPR. If she did stay then this is a purposefully fake review full of lies.... in 15 years of bunny business I have never once introduced a boarding bunny to another!! Why would I?! Even though this is way in the past it is still upsetting to read.

Tulip & Dudley are very tidy in their litter habits so I’m a bit lazy at housekeeping. This tunnel is in the back corner and under a shelf so I haven’t swept there for a bit. Dudley is in full moult at the moment and I can attest that Runaround tunnels are great for de-fluffing bunnies 😆

Does anyone know how I can contact Rabbit Rehome? Their contact page just leads to a number for the RWAF and I need to get my mobile number taken off an old page. My RSPCA login email no longer exists so I can't get in to the account!! I am still getting calls from people wanting to re-home buns.

30/04/2021

I'm having to post this again as we've had several offers to home tiny little Kai where he would be left out loose in garden all day unattended.
Now I am not trying to be nasty to the people as I am sure they love their rabbits and are doing what they think it best for them, but to think a tiny ball of fluff like Kai would be safe out all day is worrying.
Lots of people moan and abuse us when we turn down unsupervised free ranging homes , but we are trying to give these animals a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th chance of a great home and life. Putting them in the way of any risk is not acceptable.
We reguarly get e mails and calls from people who have lost their pets during the day. Some even see them taken or attacked. :( The old chesnut" but we have a 5 foot fence and we've never seen a fox" means very little when you realise foxes can scale over a 9 foot wall, your fence won't stop cats and since when has a high fence stopped a bird of prey ?
If attacked by a cat many don't die right away. They can die a few hours later of delayed shock or indeed from abcesses from the cats nip which contains lots of bacteria . ( another reason you should not let your rabbits and cats play together )
Large birds such as buzzards and, even sometimes herons, will take small pets. We have a heron visiting local houses clearing out all the fish from ponds and they are known to take small animals too. Buzzards used to be country birds that would never land in gardens. Because humans are destroying the coutryside they have evolved and we now see them in gardens, not often but often enough to be another threat to our pets. Larger birds of the crow family such as magpies and rooks have been known to attack pet rabbits too.
Look on any rabbit site on here and you will see stories from people of how their rabbit has been stolen by someone while it was in the garden and they don't know how as they have a tall strong locked gate but their pet has gone. It wasn't someone it was something.
AND BEFORE we have lots of posts saying "my rabbits have free ranged for 3 years without a problem"
2 things : firstly please do not post about supporting free ranging or you will be banned
Secondly. The risks are there and well known. In some areas they will be smaller than others but think on this. Considering our population there are not many attacks on women at night, but would you let your teenage daughter walk home through an alleyway on her own regularly? No of course you wouldn't because there is a risk, even if small, and you don't want your child hurt.
Well same goes for your pets. The risks are there. So if you care about your rabbits and guinea pigs please invest in a secure wooden framed, weld mesh covered run. Free ranging is great but only when YOU are out with them.
Thank You
