Winter fun |part 2 |❄️❄️

When the days get shorter and the temperature drops it’s hard to make sure you give your dog enough engagement and exercise as you would in the summer so here is one of my favourite enrichment games to play with my dog

I want to normalise normal dogs, it’s okay if if your dog has a bad day, it’s okay if your dog isn’t absolutely perfect, it just means you need to understand your dog triggers and what their warning signs are that lead to unwanted behaviours

Meet Elvis ✨✨

Elvis is a mix of four fantastic breeds and one of the happiest dogs I have ever met, not only is he an absolute sweetheart he really does want to please and is making great improvements engaging his brain !! Tis Cheeky chappy keeps his owners on their toes and they do a fantastic job making sure they meet all his needs and help him learn all his new recall and lead walking skills

He has done a fantastic job on his lead and I have seen great improvements in his listening skills, well done everybody. !

Not all people see eye to eye so why would we expect dogs to be the same?

You can have two perfectly well socialised and impeccably trained dogs that are not socially compatible.

Step out of the mould of trying to get your dog to desperately socialise and talk to every other unknown dog you come across, create a pack of dogs that you will see on a regular basis and use that as your dogs high-quality social group.

Meet Trent ⭐

This is Trent, the Spanish water dog! He has such a gentle and affectionate character full of love and energy.

He is such a lovely boy and has been extremely responsive to all his training so far. Trent has had a couple of setbacks due to no fault whatsoever of him or his owner, but despite this continues to be engaged, enthusiastic and successful with all his training.

His owners are very committed to making sure Trent continues the good behaviour and are a pleasure to work with.

At the ripe old age of 8 and a half, he’s well beyond his puppy days of chewing on chair legs and leaving mysterious puddles on the floor. Oh no, this is a distinguished gentleman we’re talking about, and he’s earned his right to a prime spot on the sofa. But, of course, only under the strictest conditions!

Meet Winnie ⭐

Winnie is one of the most beautiful little cava poos I have ever met! She honestly looks like she has been brought to life from a Disney picture and I think those eyes make my soul melt!

Winnie’s training has been coming along great and although we have only just started she has picked up all the new behaviours incredibly well and continues to be extremely engaged when training.

I think that this little pooch has absolutely massive potential and with her very committed owner and support system I think the world is this little dog’s oyster and can’t wait to see how they make the most of it!

Right person right dog 👍

Let me start by saying I absolutely adore all the breeds I mentioned in this video. I have one of them myself. I always try and keep my videos light and engaging, but I think this is a really important message that I have been a bit nervous about sharing on social media but it’s time to put it out there.

Whether you decide to rescue, rehome, or buy from a breeder you must make sure you decide on a dog breed or mix of breeds that is appropriate for you in your current lifestyle and your plans for the future.

Now I know we can’t predict what’s round the corner. In fact, if you asked many of us five years ago what our lives will be like now our prediction would’ve been completely different. However, this is something that should be taken in consideration and not ignored when choosing the right dog for you.

Stop choosing dogs based on what they look like, you are damaging the reputation of that breed, causing issues for your dog and other dogs around you and making things harder than they ever needed to be for everyone involved.

Meet Dot ⭐️

Dot is a 1-year-old happy, sassy, slightly crazy brown lab and an absolute whirlwind of energy.

I see her owners about once a month and I bloody love them! And honestly, who doesn’t love a dog that keeps you on your toes! Plus she is incredibly well-behaved with me. Dot listens to Dad... most of the time.

But it’s her absolute favourite game to pretend she can’t understand Mum, even though we all know she secretly loves her the most. It’s like she’s running her own comedy sketch - staring right at Mum while 'ignoring' her commands with a wink and a wag.

But jokes aside we knew from the start dot was going to have more training challenges than other dogs and owners have tackled every challenge with Open minds and by the end of the session, lots of determination to keep up what they have learnt and once our work is complete I will really miss our time together.

🏆 DOG OF THE MONTH 🐾

I have been working with Effie since she was about 16 weeks old. She is a beautiful retriever who is highly intelligent and very eager to please. Effie has some of the most committed and loving owners that I have ever met.

Recently they noticed as Effie matured she faced a challenge with resource guarding, so they updated me with the situation and we had a discussion on how to address the specific issues they were facing.

Not only were her owners super engaged and asking all the right questions but they put in fantastic work in the weeks after making sure they followed my advice to the letter and I couldn't be happier with the results!

⭐ Well done guys!!!!

Meet Tilly ⭐

Tilly the cockapoo is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met! When we first met she was incredibly nervous at only nine weeks old.

Her owner first got in touch to take part in the six week Puppy Package where we covered house training, crate training, lead walking and recall.

A few months later I came back on a check-in session to see her and I have been absolutely thrilled with how her owner has kept on top of her training and how tilly is excelling in all elements of her fantastic life.

This is a short clip to talk about how I train dogs and the methods that I use 🐾

It is so important to encourage both dog and owner to enjoy learning and make the training experience a way to bond and build a relationship. Making sure that the dog has all the love and support and affection that they need to thrive is absolutely vital along with being able to communicate a clear understanding of yes and no.

It is really important that all dogs have a healthy understanding of what we expect and using the right training method led with support and direction is the best way of doing this.
