Give your pet a stress free Christmas
As the dark nights draw in and we wind down towards a well-earned break, we often look forward to a break in routine to let us reset.
The same can’t be said for our pets, however, and often the things we enjoy most about the festive period can cause stress and worry for our furry family members.
Check out our advice on helping your pet to have a stress free Christmas here:

Do you have enough food for your pet to cover them over the festive period? Give us a call to place your order today.
Please allow a little extra time to order and collect your pet’s food from us, as deliveries may be delayed due to the upcoming Bank Holidays.

This elderly dapper gentleman was brought into Selsdon as has been wandering around Warren Avenue. He is neutered without a chip or collar. We have popped a paper collar on him and asked the member of public who brought him to us to put him back where he was found. They are kindly going to keep a close eye on him. If he belongs to you please give us a call on 0208 6578151 so we can help with microchipping 🐾🐈‍⬛

🍫🍇 Christmas Food Dangers 🍇🍫
Over-indulgence is common place over the holidays, and while we can decide whether we really need a bit more cake, our pets will often accept whatever’s on offer.
However, some foods we have around at Christmas pose significantly more danger than an upset stomach; so it’s important to keep them out of paws reach!

PET OF THE WEEK:
Maisie kept our receptionist company this week while her mum popped to the shop. She used to hate coming to the vet and was so big and brave 💪🏻🐾
CHEEKY PET OF THE WEEK:
Little Paddy made his first mistake in life and came to us after eating a grape, which are highly toxic for dogs (especially ones that are only 1.8kg!) After inducing vomiting, we were surprised to also find he had eaten 2 feathers! How cheeky! 😂🪶

You may receive an email from Petchip.network advising that your pet’s microchip registration has expired and you need to pay for it to be updated – PLEASE IGNORE. THIS IS A SCAM. The email comes with a link taking you to a page showing your pet’s name, microchip number, your contact phone number and looks very convincing. PLEASE IGNORE.

There is a list of approved databases on gov.uk: Get your dog or cat microchipped - GOV.UK

Typically you would only pay a fee or first registering your pet or if you contact the company to update your details .

It is important to keep your pet’s microchip contact details up-to-date including if you move address or change phone number/ email address. Please contact your microchip provider direct to update your details.

Have you seen the recent rules that make it a legal requirement for everyone in
Great Britain who keeps birds outdoors to register with the Animal and Plant Health
Agency (APHA)?
You can find more details here:
https://www.bva.co.uk/media/6059/guidance-for-registration-of-kept-birds-sept-2024.pdf
The rules apply to poultry and other captive birds including pets and aviary birds.
You do not need to register indoor birds such as budgies, parrots, cockatiels and
finches if they are fully housed in a dwelling (your home or another indoor
structure) and with no access to the open air.
