From midday on 18th January (Northern Ireland) and 25th January (England and Scotland), it became a legal requirement for all bird keepers to follow strict biosecurity measures to help protect their flocks from the threat of avian flu.


Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) measures apply to all bird keepers whether they have pet birds, commercial flocks or just a few birds in a backyard flock and are essential to protecting flocks from avian influenza.

The email comes with a link taking you to a page showing your pet’s name, microchip number, your contact number and looks very convincing. IGNORE

Typically you would only pay a fee if you contact the company to update your details.

Any worries please contact your microchip company to change any details if needed!

Wearing a poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

Did you know that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a world-wide health threat, as bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics that we use in human and veterinary medicine? To combat this, we are making all our clients aware that we encouraged them to return any unused antibiotics to us to dispose of safely. While we hope any course of antibiotic prescribed is finished correctly, occasionally this doesn't happen or isn't possible where topical treatments are concerned. All antibiotic ear/eye drops and skin treatments also can pose a risk is disposed of incorrectly. Throughout November we will be auditing what is returned but will always encourage clients to return unused antibiotic products to us. Have a dig through your cupboards and see what you can find! #AntibioticResistance #AntibioticAmnesty

First tick of the year! 🤢 Make sure your pets are up to date with their treatments. This lovely weather has woken the beasties!!! In fact this is the first two ticks of the year! Can you see the male attached to the engorged female?🤢🤢 Ticks carry nasty diseases and have also been found to be carrying non-native diseases. They have worked their way up from Southern Europe, hitching a lift on pets traveling without tick protection. If you are travelling with your pet, even though it is not a requirement, we suggest you use tick prevention.

Ginge is relieved the humans saw sense and removed the water from his new chair. He'd been dying to try it out and couldn't understand what had taken them so long! 😂🐈

Our Story

Torbridge veterinary group consists of three branches, one in South Molton, a consulting practice in Torrington and the largest branch in Bideford. We pride ourselves on providing the highest possible care. We have extended consulting times to make it as convenient as possible to get your pet to the vet! We also run a Saturday surgery until 5pm. Our out of hours and critical night care is provided by a MiNight service run out of Argyll vets in Barnstaple.

We have vets with post graduate certificates in surgery, medicine, cardiology and feline medicine with a visiting ophthalmologist when required. We are well equipped to deal with most medical and surgical problems reducing the need for referral in a lot of cases. Bideford is fully equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, a dedicated digital dental radiography unit, endoscopy, laser, a wide range of equipment for orthopedic and soft tissue surgical equipment including laparoscopy (keyhole) surgery.

We also run many Nurse consultations for information on preventive care, senior and dietary advice. These are usually totally free.
