Walk Train Play
Some mouse with Eli today as one of our cool activities in the shade.
Still in the early stages of working on this together but he’s really enjoying it and learning a lot during the game 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Rafferty did an excellent job today.
He struggles when he doesn’t know what you want him to do and will throw all of his behaviours at you and if that doesn’t work turn the barking.
Today we looked at the known paw target but the target was at a distance from the food. I’ve worked on this over time moving the platform a bit further each time.
Today was the first time he’s managed to reset himself, move away from the food and get into the desired position.
Well done Rafferty this is a huge achievement 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Some scent games with Rafferty this afternoon.
To start with I let him figure out how to use the toy with some easy treat accessing then increased the size of the food once he knew how to get it.
Then I alternated hiding the ball in the garage and in the garden.
The garden finds we’re easy for him but the garage and it’s conflicting smells required some concentration.
He also learned to wait with restriction of the gate. An extra skill built into the activity.
Another fun mentally stimulating game for a dog on a hot day 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Some mouse to start with for Tucker today.
Close up so you can see that wee nose working 😍
It’s far too hot for him outside so we spent the time in the cooler garage.
After mouse we worked on paw targets stepping onto and into things and I also used my kegs to create a walk over and walk under target.
Slow games in this heat to get the brain engaged without over exerting the body 💚🐶

Mouse with Reggie this afternoon.
He’s such a sensitive lad and finds stillness a difficult behaviour to offer.
Alongside some other training we’ve been using mouse as a way to promote and reinforce stillness.
It’s still early days and this is in no way perfect but capturing some little bits of stillness in an activity he enjoys helps to boost his confidence.
Although he is still whining slightly this is a great improvement as he focalises quite a lot.
Slow and steady with this sensitive boy 💚🐶

Targeting with Lola this afternoon.
This is the third week we’ve been working on this and she is now confidently front paw targeting the platform.
This behaviour has so many uses and with her the intention is to promote stillness and standing in front.
This behaviour also helps to prevent jumping. We can’t unteach behaviours but we can teach alternatives 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Fun with Frank!
Now we can walk together we can get a bit more out of our time together.
Today I used the long line to give him more freedom of movement and to work on distant connection.
You can see when I whistle he turns his body towards me which is one of the behaviours I’m looking for 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Second visit to Lola today and after some play in the garden and some work walking together during our games we took to the street.
She did a brilliant job of staying with me without tension on the lead. At a couple of points in the video she breaks connection and moves forward at increased speed but quickly comes back to where she needs to be so we can walk with a relaxed lead.
Excellent work 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Excellent session with Frank today.
For the past couple of walks Frank has been unable to offer engagement, intensely focused on getting to the next spot to mark and pulling strongly to get there.
I’ve completely ignored all of this and instead focussed on seeing if he could offer small pieces of something else, sniffing for treats.
Today we had a great walk where I offered him the chance to find food with me along the way. Stopping every few steps, coming down to his level and focusing on the food.
Today he was able to walk for some of the time without tension on the lead, to look towards me a couple of times and to offer some other connection body language.
A tiny step but a huge success! Here’s an example of the work I’ve been doing. Might seem like nothing but he’s learning loads here 💚🐶

Walk Train Play
Working on some front feet targets with Reggie this afternoon.
I’m looking to teach him a few things with this including stillness, interaction at a distance and problem solving.
At the moment he needs a lot of guidance when we are working together but that’s fine. Our relationship will grow if I help him be successful and it’s my job to set up the training so he is as error free as possible.
He has some behaviours I can observe that let me know his emotional state allowing me to make small adjustments.
He’s such a sensitive lad but we are making great progress so far and he was stepping onto the box with confidence half way through our session today. Getting the camera angle right is the next lesson for me!
Well done Reggie 💚🐶
Walk Train Play
Cassie wasn’t moving so well today so we took it at her pace, stopping when she wanted to, and played a nice slow scent game.
Today I made it easier for her to cope with mobility wise and chose shorter grass.
It’s also quite windy today so that adds some different concepts to the game depending on her being up wind or down.
Listen to those snuffles 🥰 💚🐶
