Broccoli is a member of the brassica family along with the likes of cauliflower, kale and cabbage. It was created in Italy some two thousand years ago by selectively breeding other brassicas. I’ve absolutely no idea how they did that, but I’m so glad they did. My dogs love broccoli!

Thought I'd put together a little non-meat number for today. Still plenty of protein courtesy of the eggs, and I will mix in some sardines at meal time. That said, if you want your best friend to be a lacto-ovo-vegetarian, you could do a lot worse than a meal like this!

What do you call a natural pain reliever that supports the liver and aids digestion? It’s one of the strongest anti-inflammatories. It can help you lose weight and can also be used for dyeing fabric. It can be used as a natural antivenom for snake bites and can inhibit hair growth. And it can get rid of unwanted hair and enhance skin tone. And in India it can be applied to a bride and groom’s body, face and arms at the time of their wedding.

Need more clues?

Well, in the Middle Ages it was known as Indian saffron because it was a cheaper alternative to saffron. It’s the ingredient that gives some Indian and Tai dishes their bright yellow colour. And it’s found in suntan lotion as well as being what gives English mustard its yellow colour.

Need yet more clues . . . okay, I give up. It’s turmeric of course!

Homemade Dog Food made easy!

Our love of Marco inspired us to create healthy homemade dog food recipes for him and dogs just like him. Dogs who deserve the best.

Dogs like Marco increasingly suffer ill-health as a result of eating unhealthy, highly processed, commercial dog food.

To help him overcome his allergies, we set out to create the perfect diet using only high quality, natural, wholesome ingredients to make food that looks the way food should.

To make all our meals complete we’ve devised our own range of natural Herb Blends for Dogs, every one of which has been lovingly hand-craft by our own team here in rural Somerset.
