Our Tearaways were tamed over the last 5wks 💪

Their humans put the work in and practised everything they'd been learning and we smashed our final session.

Having the classes in real life, distracting environments meant we could really see progress and I was there to support when needed 🙌

They now fully enjoy every walk knowing they have an even stronger connection with their dog.

Come and join us for the next one

One of the common questions I get as a dog trainer is...

Why does my dog do this?! 🤯

This is a big❓️and can have many answers but one common explanation is development stages.

The reasons behind dogs behaviour can often be linked to not only the stage of development they are in but also what their early experiences with things were.

My webinar helps demystify the developmental stages our dogs go through. Allowing you to understand your dog better.

❓️ Puppy development made easy

❓️ How to support them through fear periods

❓️ Surviving adolescent

❓️ The joys of adulthood

❓️ Helping your senior dog

If you want to know even more then you can watch my full 90 minute webinar. Go for it! Link in bio! Go for it!👇

O' Christmas Tree, O' Christmas Tree, how dangerous are your branches! 🎶🎄

That’s a Becky Special version of the classic song…. but perhaps it will keep the following fresh to remember each year 👇

✨ Supervise your dog whenever they’re near the tree.
✨ Keep fairy light cables tidy and out of the way of your dog’s mouth.
✨ Hang decorations high to prevent chewing or swallowing.
✨ Avoid hanging chocolate decorations on the tree.
✨ Keep presents away from under the tree… especially edible ones.
✨ Use a puppy pen if necessary to create a safe barrier.

Scientifically proven. Facts are facts. 😂

Our last Yellowcraigs classes of 2024 have graduated! 🎉

What a great few weeks we've had together. You've all come on leaps and bounds 💪

With the festive season fast approaching we really wanted to nail not jumping up.

Making sure our dogs know a Sit is the best way to get paid helps gives our dogs a solid behaviour to offer instead of jumping up.

I have every confidence your guests will be welcomed politely by your dogs 🙌

Our New Year classes are open for booking and spaces are going fast 😳

Bah Humbug. You guys know by now… Halloween is my season and Christmas… not so much! 😂

However, here’s a super important list of winter and festive season dangers to be mindful of! 👇

🍰 Raisins (in cakes etc) – are harmful and can cause poisoning.

🍽️ Counter Surfing – Dogs love to sneak food, so keep it out of reach.

🔋 Batteries – Found in kids’ toys, these can be deadly if chewed.

🎄 Christmas Tree Water – Can contain chemicals harmful to dogs.

🕯️ Candles – easily be knocked over, causing a fire hazard.

🧸 Small Toys & Decorations – Can be a choking hazard or swallowed.

❄️ Frozen Paws – Salt and grit on the roads can irritate your dog’s paws.

🌿 Festive Plants – some common Christmas plants are toxic to dogs.

💡 Fairy Lights – Dogs may chew on wires, risking electric shock.

🍬 Sweets – Xylitol, found in sugar-free treats, is toxic to dogs.

🎁 Wrapping & Ribbon – bits can be swallowed, causing blockages.

🚪 Open Doors – With guests coming and going, be sure to keep your dog safely inside to avoid them running off.

Share this post and Merry Christmas! 😂

When it comes to puppy training, or any kind of training, there’s no magic wand (though, how cool would that be if I had one? 🪄).

But… in my 6 week puppy class sessions, I can help you raise your puppy into a well-rounded adult dog.

My puppy training isn’t your usual puppy class. We’ll be out in the real world, teaching your pup how to behave beautifully everywhere.

My Puppy Paradox classes start in January. These are 6 week sessions designed to help you raise your puppy into a well rounded adult dog.

I know how much of a rollercoaster of emotions it can be bringing a new puppy into your life, so my classes are all about zero stress, zero shame, and lots of clarity. Plus, we’ll probably have a good laugh along the way! 😂

I’ve got two classes starting – one in Musselburgh and one in Yellowcraigs. All the info and to book are in the link below, and feel free to DM or add a comment below if you have any questions..

Do you get a pang of envy when you see people talking and their dogs aren't jumping up?

Or maybe you look at them and wonder how on earth they got their dog to behave 🤔

This is exactly the type of thing my puppy students practised at class 🎉
I'll let you in on a wee secret to success

😉 Give yourself a bit of space so it's not too tempting for your dog to play/say hello

😉 Keep on lead greetings short & sweet. Don't let them play whilst on the lead - usually we want our dogs to be calm when on lead & play times are for off lead. Gets a bit confusing for the dog if you let them play whilst on a lead.

😉 Keep your interactions successful. Move on before your dog gets too excited or bored. The aim is that they rehearse the behaviours you'd like them to do more often.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

Come along and say hello 👋

Your weekend listening is here! 🎉

Get yourself a beveridge of your choice, a snack and comfy because we're going to take you on a wild ride as we discuss the world of dog walking and daycare.

We went off on so many tangents that I totally forget where we were at one point 😂

Feel free to wade into the festive nails or not debate as well 🫣

Impulse control is a skill that can make a huge difference to your dog’s ability to contain and control themselves in a wide range of environments and situations.

However, it has a huge impact on many dog behaviours that we humans can find… lets say, challenging!

Good news - impulse control completely trainable.

Our Story

East Coast Dog Training was founded in 2015 by 3 trainers, Sarah, Becky & Jodi. With the aim to teach you & your dog the skills needed for everyday life, whilst making it fun. Our dog training classes are brought to you in a relaxed & informal setting. We only use positive, science based training techniques. We will not use aversive techniques that may cause fear, alarm or pain to your dog.

2018 brought some changes for us with Sarah & Jodi moving on to expand their own businesses. I took over the classes, keeping our original ethos going.

Our courses run for 7weeks and cost £70.
