March Neutering Campaign: 49 cats helped! 🐾

During March, we ran a free neutering/microchipping campaign for owned cats in and around Stowmarket - because every neutered cat means fewer unwanted kittens.

53 cats were registered. Sadly, four owners didn’t take up their appointments. Still, we’re delighted that 49 cats have been helped. Not only does neutering reduce the number of homeless kittens, neutered cats are less prone to straying, disease and injury.

A huge shoutout goes to our incredible volunteer neutering officer, Margaret, whose tireless dedication and patience made it possible. These campaigns are very time-consuming, and we couldn’t do it without her.

They’re also expensive - which is why we rely on the generosity of our supporters. If you'd like to see more campaigns like this, please consider donating or fundraising on our behalf. Every penny helps more cats live safer, healthier lives.

Finally, special thanks also to Stowe Veterinary Group, which carried out the procedures at a discounted rate, allowing us to help even more cats.💛

This Sunday – 27 April – the London Marathon 🏃‍♀️ is happening, and we’re thrilled to have student vet nurse Rhianna, from Thurston, running it on our behalf! 🩺🐾

Rhianna has been training hard for months 💪 and now the big day is almost here. She says she’s nervous but excited as she gears up for those 26.2 miles through the streets of London.🏅

We’re very grateful for her incredible support and dedication so we'll be cheering her on and wishing her the very best of luck. Let's hope her hard work pays off and that she enjoys every moment! 😅

We recently helped five gorgeous kittens find loving new homes – but this story doesn’t end there. Once she'd completed her kitten-raising duties, we then had to find their wonderful mum, still just a baby herself, her own forever home. And we're delighted to say, we've done it!

It's wonderful to know that every member of this sweet little family now has the bright future they deserve. Huge thanks to everyone who played a part in their journey, especially their amazing Cats Protection fosterer, whose dedication and care made it all possible.

🐾 Meet Monty & Kaspar – the Purrfect Pair! 🐾

These two handsome boys have come into our care through no fault of their own. They’re looking for a loving forever home together as they're the best of friends.

Kaspar (black and white) is the more playful of the two, but both love fuss, cuddles, and attention.🐱💕 They’ve come from a peaceful rural home, so we’re hoping to find a similar calm setting where they can settle in comfortably.

Monty & Kaspar haven’t lived with young children or other pets, so a quieter home would suit them best. Like all our cats, they’ll need safe outdoor access via a cat flap and a home away from busy roads.

Rain or shine, our volunteers go the extra mile – literally!

Despite the wet and wild February weather, our brilliant treasurer Diane and her friend Carole laced up their walking boots for the Cats Protection Big Winter Roam, raising a fantastic £100 for our branch!

Most of their steps were taken through the beautiful footpaths of Ickworth Park and Nowton Park, soaking in the scenery while supporting a cause close to their hearts. They completed their final walk just recently – this time under blue skies, relaxing in deckchairs with cinnamon buns in hand, watching spring lambs bounce across the fields.

Poor Big Cat has had no interest shown in her so far and we'd love for her to find her forever family soon so she can start to enjoy life again in a loving new home. You’ve met the other three, now it’s time to introduce the final two from our litter of five kittens!

Meet Monet and Tosca, now thriving in their wonderful new home – and begging to sign up for piano lessons! 🎶🐾

These kittens came to us from a very difficult situation and rearing them from such a young age was no easy task for our amazing fosterer. But seeing all five happily settled with bright futures ahead, makes the challenge worthwhile.

A heartfelt thank you to their new family for giving them the love and home they deserve! 💛🏡✨

The litter of five kittens we recently cared for have all found their forever homes! You’ve already met Mars and Minstrel—now, say hello to Rocky!

The only black kitten in the litter, Rocky has gone from a tough start - he was underweight for the first few weeks and needed a lot of extra care - to living his best life in a beautiful rural home. He has certainly landed on his paws!

A huge thank you to his dedicated CP fosterer and his wonderful new family for giving him the love and care he deserves. ❤️

From Rescue to Resident Superstar! 🐱✨

Last September, we rehomed Dodger, a special and very handsome boy. Now, he’s living his best life in a local care home, bringing joy to residents and staff alike! 💛🐾

His fosterer recently visited and was delighted to see how relaxed he was and how much he is loved by everyone. He has found his perfect place, where he brings happiness every day!

🚀 Our amazing fundraiser Col is at it again! 🚀

This time, he’s taking on a Cats Protection Challenge Event, climbing Scafell Pike on 20 July to support us! 🐾⛰️

Every penny he raises will go directly to our branch and will, in particular, support our neutering work, which is vital to reduce cat overpopulation and makes such a difference to the welfare of countless cats and kittens.

We’re so happy to say that Susie and Sally, who waited so patiently, are now soaking up the joys of spring in their forever home! 🌸💛

This adorable pair had a stroke of bad luck, finding themselves in our care twice through no fault of their own. But their story now has the happy ending they deserve - and the future looks bright! 🏡🐾

A huge thank you to their dedicated CP fosterer for giving them a safe place to land, and of course, to their wonderful new family for opening their hearts and home. Wishing Susie and Sally a lifetime of happiness! 💕

Too Many Cats, Too Few Homes – Let’s Change That!

Cats are prolific breeders, and sadly, rescues like ours are overwhelmed with unwanted and abandoned cats. The best way to improve cat welfare is by reducing overpopulation—and you can help by making sure your cat is neutered.

This March, we’re offering FREE neutering and microchipping for cat owners in the IP6 and IP14 postcodes who receive benefits or have a household income of less than £25,000. Check out the details on the poster below.

Beautiful Poppy came into our care in 2022, arriving with a painful skin condition. Thanks to the right medication, lots of love from her dedicated fosterer, and plenty of TLC, she improved greatly.
And, before long, a wonderful family stepped forward to give her the forever home and continuing care she deserved. Just look at her now:😍😍😍
