UPDATE ON BLUE TONGUE

‼️ BLUE TONGUE DISEASE ‼️

3 cases of Blue tounge have now been confirmed in the area and the Temporary Control Zone (TCZ) has been extended. Movement restrictions are in place for all ruminants including cattle, sheep and camelids.

Blue Tounge is a notifiable diease in the UK meaning that there is a legal obligation to report it to the APHA even if it is only suspected

Blue Tounge is a virus spread by biting midges. We would like to highlight the importance of biosecuirty, fly repellent, reducing manure and standing water as much as possible.

We urge all our clients to remain vigilant. Signs to look for:

In sheep: Ulcers or sores in the mouth or nose, discharge from eyes or nose and drooling from the mouth, swelling of the lips, tongue, head, neck and coronary band

In Cattle: Lethargy, loss of appetite, redness of mouth, eyes, nose, skin above the hoof and teats, nasal discharge, fever and milk drop

The first BTV3 case in 24/25 has been confirmed at a premises near Haddiscoe, South Norfolk.

A 20km Temporary Control Zone has been put in place. Keepers of cattle, sheep, camelids and other ruminants must remain vigilant and follow the restrictions on animal and germinal product movements that now apply in the zone.

Please be aware this affects April and May manufacturing dates.

Due to environmental issues, coupled with equipment supply problems, the following feeds with batch dates in April may take longer to soak.

Feeds: Fast Fibre, Veteran Light & Care & Gain

Rest assured, the formulas are unchanged and provide the same excellent nutrition, therefore the feed can be fed as long as all pellets are thoroughly soaked.

please soak until all pellets are fully dissolved and a mash is formed, we suggest making your evening feed in the morning and vice versa.

We are REHOMING our CHICKENS on SAT 18th MAY 10am TO 3pm. All we ask that you give them a good home and in return you will get the best eggs ever! We ask for a minimum donation of £2 per chicken.
