Respiratory tract infection in birds.

Airway and respiratory tract diseases are very common in pet birds. A common disease is Aspergillosis, which is a fungal infection of the bird’s respiratory tract.

The symptoms of the disease are dependent on the form of the infection. For birds, the fungal spores lodge in the air sacs of the lungs.

But, it can also involve the bronchi, trachea, and voice box of the bird. If not treated quickly, it caneven spread to other organs.

How to ensure your birds feel safe during fireworks.

Fireworks can be incredibly stressful for birds due to their sensitive hearing, vision, and respiratory systems. Here are a few ways you can make the nights less stressful:

Create a calm and quiet space - playing soothing music or nature sounds can also help mask the sound of fireworks.

Desensitisation training - gradually expose your bird to Youtube videos with firework sounds at low volumes, and slowly increase the volume over time.

Establish a quieter, safe space - use breathable covers to make it even more comforting.
