Ember, my little munchkin 🦡🧡
At Canine Sense, our mission is to provide you with a profound understanding of your dog’s perspective and instincts. Our vision is to help you develop a ‘Canine Sense’—an intuitive ability to deeply comprehend your dog’s behaviour and communication. 🌟
❓Why does your dog exhibit certain behaviours? How does your dog learn? How can we improve our communication? ❓
💪We empower dog owners by teaching three core pillars:
energy, relationship, and knowledge.
By helping you become aware of your own energy, build a respectful and trusting relationship with your dog, and continually expand your understanding, we ensure you can always act in the best interest of your dog. 🐕
Start the day right 💪
There are countless benefits to walking a dog first thing in the morning:
🐾 Burn off energy
💓 Cardiovascular exercise provides multiple health benefits
💩 Most dogs need to use the bathroom upon waking
😌 Dogs are more relaxed and fulfilled after a walk
🌿 Walking in nature produces endorphins for stress relief
🧠 Provides mental stimulation
💖 Good for the bond
⏰ Instills structure and discipline
🎓 Great training opportunity when the mind is fresh
Breeze is recovering from her second TPLO surgery (cruciate ligament)… and she’s doing well!! 🧡🧡🧡
We are counting the weeks until she is off lead again with Ember… on Thursday it will be 5 weeks since her second operation.
It takes 6-8 weeks for the bone to heal… the vet said she could be off lead after 10 weeks. Which means that we are halfway there!! 🥳🙌
We’ll keep you updated on her progress AND in the coming weeks we will also share a few things we did with Breeze during her recovery ❤️🩹 🐕🙏
There have never been as many dogs in the UK as now. Training is a must! It not only ensures obedience but also contributes to the wellbeing and freedom of dogs. 🌟
When a dog is reactive or anxious, it can seriously impact the daily life of the dog owner. Often, dog owners feel judged and stressed out over their dog’s behavioural ‘issues’.
As a dog trainer, it has always been very important to me to help dogs as much as their owners. I am on your side. I know, you can do this. Be confident. You’ve got this 👊
During my childhood, I grew up with a pack of 4-6 Rough Collies and Bernese Mountain Dogs. 🐕
Over the years, my family owned more than 20 dogs, and each one of them has taught me not only to be a better handler 🌟 but also deepened my connection with these animals, truly touching my soul 🧡
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! 🤩
Building on the success of our pack walks🧡 we are expanding our group session offerings and are launching
“PAWS IN THE CITY - MORNING CLUB” 🌟
A relaxed morning adventure, guiding our dogs through the town’s lively streets whilst focusing on socialisation and practising obedience in real-world scenarios. 💪
By introducing dogs to different environments, people and fellow canines, we help them develop into well-adjusted and confident companions. 🐕🫶
From ‘long down stays’, ‘heeling’ exercises to enjoying a cup of coffee or tea ☕️ , our main focus is to create a comfortable and happy state of mind for your dog in a social settings with other people and dogs. 🐶
Please note, these sessions are exclusively
for Canine Sense customers. 🐾

See you then 🧡🧡🧡
Training with Ember 🌟
Jumping up is a natural behaviour for many dogs, a behaviour I am sometimes actively seeking in my dogs when working with them.
However, there are of course different forms of jumping up and some are related to anxiety. Every dog is different so training has to be trailered. 🐕🐾
Unlock training success together. 🌟
Empower other dog owners and help them achieve their training goals by taking your dog on a lead, maintaining distance, being kind & respectful 🫶💪🐕🐾
Thank you for the amazing post Love Wokingham 🧡🧡🧡 excited for our Instagram Live tomorrow! Simply click on the Canine Sense Instagram story to join. The live starts on Thursday 18 April, 7pm BST 🐾 see you then!
Talking about the foundation of every human & dog team! 👣🐾 Something every dog owner must know. Can’t wait to share this with you.🧡🙌
Eye contact 👁️ one of the most fundamental communication tools. ⚒️
Which emotions do you see a lot in your dog’s eyes? 🐕🐾
How does a dog learn? What are motivators? Why does a dog engage in certain behaviours? 🧐
Along the way, certain behaviours were learned, and some small details may have been overlooked or not fully understood.
It is easier to prevent unwanted behaviours than it is to correct them later.
The more a dog successfully practices a certain behaviour, the more proficient they become.
It is important to choose wisely. Which behaviours are good? And for which purpose?
What is your experience with this? 🐾
Creating a strong bond & trust that lasts 🧡
Ember is just over a year old now. Many dogs start showing behavioural issues at this age. These issues are often a result of previous behaviour manifesting further or dogs transitioning into adulthood and developing different mindsets.
Reactivity does not suddenly occur. Often the first signs are missed, which means dog owners need to develop a really good understanding of dog body language and have amazing observational skills.
If there ever was a singular bad incident (which potentially can cause the dog to become reactive in the future), it is crucial to layer many positive experiences on top of this and of course to always give the dog clear instructions and guidance. 🐕
Breeze 🔥🧡
Clear communication is the foundation of successful dog training 🐕🐾
For anyone looking for a good muzzle…
We have avoided posting photos of Lily in her muzzle, maybe thinking if we didn't post a picture it wasn't true? Who knows? Lily however is very comfortable in her muzzle. She doesn't mind putting it on, she doesn't attempt to take it off, she walks in it just fine and travels in it happily in a vehicle.
This muzzle was made specifically to Lily's measurements. While many people think about pant room they don't think about yawn room (which is so much bigger). One of a dogs coping mechanisms in times of stress (for example the vet) is to yawn. Imagine needing to yawn and being limited by a muzzle, wouldn't be a great feeling.
We purchased the muzzle from Pawfect Fit Dog Muzzles (Their page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/924057441846435) and will be buying another one shortly as a spare.
Once you understand that you need to win over the mind & heart of a dog, everything falls into place 🧡
Breeze & Ember 🧡🧡 wishing you all a great weekend and happy training 🐕🐾
Wishing you a happy Christmas and sending warm wishes to you and your beloved four-legged companions! 🎄🐾
We just wanted to take a moment and express our love for this community and your stories. But above all, what truly fills our hearts is witnessing your dogs thrive, being happy and fulfilled. 🔥🐕🦴🐾
Thank you for being an integral part of the Canine Sense community.
We are grateful for your presence and contribution. 🙏🧡
Wishing everyone a great weekend from Breeze & Ember 🐾
Especially true for smaller dogs. Watch out for comfortable, non restricting coats!
If your dog has a coat please use.
Even Floyd felt cold this morning on his early morning walk.
If too cold I will cut the walk down.
Wishing you all a great weekend - from Breeze & Ember 🐾🐾
If you are the owner of an XL Bully type dog and you are concerned about this ban or need help or advice, please reach out. We are here to help 🙏🐾
📣 Today, the Government announced that American Bully XL type dogs have been added to the banned breeds list. The guidance has been published here www.gov.uk/guidance/prepare-for-the-ban-on-xl-bully-dogs
We know this is a very worrying and upsetting time for dog owners whose dogs are affected by this legislation. We will continue to support owners, with our programme of practical support and advice, which includes free muzzle training. Our current advice can be found here www.dogstrust.org.uk/xlbullyinfo and we will update this page with further information shortly.
We also know many of you are concerned about what will happen to the dogs in our care which might fall under the ban. It will take some time for us to interpret the guidance and review the dogs in our care who could potentially be affected by the ban. We will not be releasing any more details about the dogs in our care who may be affected.
Do you remember when Ember was so little? Swipe left to see how big she is now! 🙏🧡

After our training sessions with the Rottweilers, we will always take our time and give our dogs special attention - because this when they are feeling their absolute best 💪🧡 #dogtraining #dogbehaviour #dogemotions #dogs #rottweiler #humananddog #affection #dogsofinstagram #dogattention #dogswithanxiety #dogaggression #dogsarefamily
No recall around distractions… 💥 Nash is a young dog who has spent the last few months mainly on a lead because he was eager to approach any dog he saw. While he is friendly, this behaviour can be risky, as other dogs may find it rude when Nash rushes toward them, and we can never predict how an interaction will unfold. Moreover, keeping a dog on a lead makes it much more challenging to fulfill their needs. Nash’s owner was eager to provide him with the freedom and stimulation he craved, all while maintaining control! So we showed Nash that there are also boundaries when off-lead... And here we go… he needed this! 👊🧡 #dogrecall #dogtraining #labradoodle #dogbehaviourist #dogpark #dogcommunity #dogwalk #dogobedience #dogbehaviour #dogloversuk #dogs #caninesense
Always plenty of distractions around in the forest and on our usual walks. 🐕🌳🏃🦌Supporting our dog and giving clear feedback is vital in these environments. Here we practised some focus work with Ember after 45 min of walking. You can tell she is tired but sometimes it is these moments where the extra push brings even more rewards next time. 👊 #rottweiler #trainyourdog #dogtraining #caninesense #distractions #motivation #dogs #focus #doglife #dogwalk #dogfocus #dogworking #dogpsychology
Harnesses are great tools but they need to fit properly and respect the dog’s physique! Too many times I see dogs walking down the road, even older dogs who clearly are suffering from arthritis, with harnesses that restrict movement and I can see the discomfort those dogs are in that often times I actually stop my car and educate the owners who are always very grateful for the advice. There is no such thing as an anti-pull harness unless it inflicts discomfort and alters a dog’s gait. I hope you find this video useful and share it so we can educate and help more owners to always do the best by their dogs. 🐕 💪 #dogharness #dogcomfort #dogowners #dogarthritis #dogmovement #antipullharness #dogphysio #rottweiler #dogtrainer #educatingowners #dogs #dogpuller #dogpulling #dogequipment #caninesense #dogbehaviourist #dogtraining
Search work is something most dog breeds absolutely love. Instead of searching for food, we often use toys, sticks and other items. Some dogs are much more driven for those, but I mainly like it better because of the connection that sparks between handler and dog. 🌟🐕 #searchdog #searchwork #dogsearching #dogtoys #dogstick #searchdogs #rottie #rottweiler #caninesense #dogs #dogtraining #dogjoy #dogtrainer #dogconnection #rescuedog #cockerpoo #poodlemix
I can’t believe it has almost been 4 months since Breeze was off lead!! 🤯 The good news: We can now increase the exercise to 4x 30 min walks this week and from next Thursday 4x 45 min walks! And in 3 weeks I’ll get her on the extendable lead and in 5 weeks she should be off lead again 🙌 She’s been doing really well during this time but it was certainly not easy to fulfill her with the exercise restrictions. #cruciateligament #dog #rottweiler #dogrecovery #mentalstimulationfordogs #rottie #exerciserestriction #dogtrainingtips #doglife #dogexercise #dogwalk #doggames
It’s the little things in dog training that can make all the difference. What’s your experience? Do you practise similar to us before letting your canine out of the car? #dogtraining #dogcar #rottweilertraining #rottweiler #dogs #canine #littlethings #dogbehaviourtraining #dogtraininguk #dogtrainingpaysoff #dogtrainingadvice #doglife
No more needs to be said! Every dog needs to know crate training as you never know if you might need it one day… #cratetraining #dog #dogs #pettraining #dogtraining #dogtrainer #caninesense #rottweiler #rottie #crate #dogcrate #dogskills #vet #dogvet #doglife
Just to give you some more ideas in case you also have a dog who is just recovering from surgery or who is maybe a little older and doesn’t require as much exercise anymore💡 I love to give my dogs a variety of environments to explore and it has been especially helpful since Breeze had both her rear legs operated! ❤️🩹
Knowing your dog well, can make all the difference in training 💪 How would you describe your dog’s character? 🐾 #dogtraining #dogbehavior #dogcharacter #rottweiler #dogbehaviourist #dogtrainingtips #dogadvice #dogtrainingadvice #dogtips #dogscience #dogtrainer #berkshire #canine #dog #dogs #dog #doganxiety #dogaggression #happydog #dogtraininguk #caninesense
How we chose a companion for Breeze 🐾🐕By closely observing the puppy’s and Breeze’s body language and energy, we knew Ember was the right puppy for Breeze as both their energy just matched. ✨Breeze has quite a high energy and Ember is a bit more chilled - meaning that they balance each other just perfectly ❤️🔥#seconddog #dogfriends #rottweiler #dogtrainer #puppy #rottiepuppy
Dogs are always telling us something. What do you see in Breeze’s body language and facial expressions? 👀 #dogbodylanguage #rottiegirl #dogcommunication #dogtraining #dogbehaviour #doglover #rottweiler #caninesense
A much better way, of getting your dog to listen to you is by improving you and your dog’s relationship. The relationship to your dog should be the one motivator for them to show requested behaviour. My training focuses on a dog eventually ‘wanting’ to show a desired behaviour rather than being forced into it. 🐾 #dogbehaviourist #berkshire #instinct #science #dogmind #happydog #dogtrainer #dogtraining #positiveenergy #relationship #patience #mentalstrength #doglover #behaviouralbiology #rottie #rott #tools #prongcollar #ecollar #lead #leash

Why is my dog behaving in a certain way? Why do they get triggered? Why do they feel in a certain way? What is the motive? These are very important questions to ask before just expecting our dogs to behave in a certain way and to just dive in to correct behaviours. Behaviour is mainly steered by emotions - so changing the emotional state of a dog is the key to success. 🗝️🦴🐕#dogtraining #dogbehavior #dogbehaviourist #dogtrainingtips #dogadvice #dogtrainingadvice #dogtips #dogscience #confidence #packwalk #dogtrainer #berkshire #canine #dog #dogs #dog #doganxiety #dogaggression #happydog #dogtraininguk
A little bit more about myself… Where I came from and why I chose Rottweilers. I would love to know why you have chosen the dogs you have. Who are you? ABOUT ME
My natural “Canine-Sense” has its roots in my childhood in Switzerland. Growing up with a pack of Rough Collies and Swiss Mountain Dogs, influenced me from an early age. I discovered how to achieve a strong bond with my dogs and became instinctual in understanding their behavior and modes of communication.
When I was 16 years old, I decided to become a certified dog trainer. The only problem was my age. Dog training schools did not accept any students under 25 years old. I was lucky though, when the Head of the Eduqua certified, BHT Hundeschule dog training school in St Gallen discovered my talent, after showing him how I rehabilitated a hunting dog called Barry. Barry was and unruly dog, threatened to be taken away from its owners an possibly put down, if he never was to hunt again. After working a few weeks with Barry, I was able to walk off-lead with him in the woods and fields.
I enrolled at the school and successfully obtained my certification. I then started working with different dogs and their owners. From aggressive German Shepherds and anxious Poodles, to hyperactive Labradors and puppies.
WHAT MAKES CANINE SENSE DIFFERENT
My belief that there is no such thing as a “bad” dog is not a theory. The difference between even the smallest of issues and your dream dog, is simply lost in translation. With my positive energy and my wealth of knowledge and experience, I will show YOU how to attain the “Canine-Sense”.
