🚨 Parvo Virus Outbreak in Our Area 🚨
We've had reports of a small outbreak of Parvo virus in the region, and we want to keep our pet owners informed and prepared.

Parvo is highly contagious and can be fatal, especially in puppies. 👀Look out for the following clinical signs:
- Severe vomiting
- Diarrhea (often with blood)
- Lethargy
- Loss of appetite
- Fever

If your dog shows any of these symptoms, contact us immediately!

‼Prevention is key‼: We highly recommend a booster at 20 weeks of age for your puppies, as this can provide extra protection against Parvo. 🐾

Exactly this! We always feel bad cancelling but better safe than sorry!

These past weeks have reinforced me putting my foot down when I have a gut feeling about class safety.

I always feel guilty when I cancel classes due to heat or rain. Even though, for my students, the classes carry over and the financial loss affects me, I feel like a fraud if the temperature isn’t as hot as I’d have expected, or the rain isn’t as heavy as it was forecast. Honestly, even if a literal tornado hit, I’d probably be sat inside thinking ‘I really should have just sucked it up and done the classes’.

However, in the past couple of weeks my dog slipped badly on a wet dogwalk and fell, and another one of my students’ dogs started showing signs of heatstroke.

Both times, I had a gut feeling that *maybe* it’s a bit too wet. *Maybe* it’s a bit too warm. Neither times were extreme weather- the first wasn’t a downpour and the second wasn’t a heatwave. But both were on the cusp of me thinking the conditions weren’t ideal. And both times I wish I had put my foot down earlier and avoided it. Both times, it was my fault for not making the right call.

When I cancel classes due to weather, I’m doing it for your dogs. One dog being injured, one dog getting heatstroke. That’s one dog too many. I know it can be frustrating, it is frustrating for me, but we cannot risk our dogs’ safety unnecessarily.

I’m going to try to not feel guilty about making these calls in the future. Our dogs can survive a week or two without their classes if necessary, but they might not survive a horrible fall or heatstroke.

We can’t live our entire lives thinking of the ‘what ifs,’ but we have to do our best to mitigate safety issues where we can. Working with dogs, things are bound to go wrong sometimes, but as the trainer it’s my job to keep that to a minimum.
