Helping Dogs In The UK and Beyond Helping unwanted dogs find their forever homes, by offering foster care to canines to rehabilitate initially, then assess and find suitable forever homes.

This page is all about helping unwanted dogs find new homes. In the past we concentrated our efforts on assisting perhaps the biggest shelter on Lanzarote . We have now decided to extend our assistance to dogs from all over the world including the UK! In all honesty we have taken in dogs from the UK for years because once you are known for rehoming they arrive from all sorts of unlikely sources. W

e have taken the decision to re-home one dog at a time as we are able to accommodate this within our household although we have still retained our multi kennelling facility should the need ever arise. Our dogs are lucky, they exist in a loving , safe environment and exercise in a secure 10 acre grass field, in short they live a privileged life whilst in our care. Please be aware that whenever adopting from us you will have to undergo a home check and provide veterinary references and be prepared to pay an adoption fee . All dogs are offered for adoption are neutered, inoculated and of course microchipped. Recently we have also helped re-home dogs from Serbia, Romania and China and are currently awaiting delivery of a poppet from the Middle East. If you would like to know more about us or if you need assistance please call 07767408875. Email [email protected] or call 07831480101. Email [email protected]

JUST RECEIVED THIS,CAN ANYONE OFFER TO FOSTER ONE OF THESE PUPS?
Hi Rick/Lesley
I have 3 scared pups in Romania that we saved from Kill Shelter specifically for a lady that wanted to foster them adopt all three.
She has now pulled out and we are needing to find fosters, doesn’t need to be 3 together, but they need experienced people who can help them.
Their mother was killed in the shelter by other dogs 2 days after they arrived 😭 so they are obviously terrified.
They are doing a little better since being moved from the KS, but going to take time..
Could you help? Small size, videos below 🙏

MARCO NEEDS A UK HOME

Marco arrived recently from Gran Canaria . He is a lovely chap although currently very wary of people , however if you give him time he engages with you so I've no doubt that he will rehabilitate quickly.Hes great with other dogs and hasn't a bad bone in his body.
His was rescued from one of the many Killing Stations on the island and following health tests and castration he has been transported here, so he comes with a clean bill of health .
He needs a dog knowledgeable home with constant care and attention and I'd say if he had another canine friend or 2 ( or 3)to share his life , that would only help bring him on. Usual stuff applies, as with all Podencos he must have a secure escape free garden and although I don't know for sure I'd suggest that a cat free house might be advisable.
Marco is currently based in the South East but transport can be arranged for the right home.
Please rack your brains, share to whoever. and if at all possible explore if you are able to offer this lovely lad his forever home.

BLOSSOM LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME

Blossom is an 11 month Cane Corsa and she is beautiful. I love her to bits. Blossom came to live with us in late November as she was too nice a person to guard her previous home. She is such a sweet natured girl in every way, housetrained , lead trained, fantastic in a car and bright as a button. She loves playing with our other dogs and mixes with them all brilliantly.
I really want to keep her for myself as I haven't had a big dog really since Bear died some 2 years ago but Lesley has asked me to find her a home if I can.
Her reason , she's right unfortunately😩, is that Blossom is a big girl, she's 40kilos and will obviously grow a bit more and when she plays with Lucas and Billy, who are about 5kilos wet through, there is a very real danger of doing them some real damage as she flattens them( Billy has already damaged a cruciate ligament ) .
So I am looking for a home for her. She is an absolute poppet , she can live in most environments and will happily live with another dog provided it has some substance😂.
So please everyone out there please share her details.

CHENEY THE CUDDLY SHAR PEI IS STILL AWAITING A NEW HOME

Following on from my post last week I have had a few people contact me about this chap although to date no one has taken him.
Some questions that everyone has asked are probably relevant and enlightening.
Q. Is he in any way aggressive to other dogs ?
A. Not in the slightest, he's a real sweetheart.
Q. Why is he really being rehomed?
A. I agree that the reason given seems a tad lightweight but honestly the lady is heading back into full time education. My views on that probably better remain unpublished, save stating that the dog doesn't deserve to be having to pack his bags and move on as he's a poppet!
Even Lesley has to admit that I'm becoming less outspoken!🤭
Q. He's a middle aged dog, is there an adoption fee as you never let dogs go free as this can attract the wrong owners ?
A. My sentiment remains the same on this matter but suffice to say that his adoption fee is very much reflective of his age.
Q. Shar Pei's aren't generally know to be highly trainable, what's he like?
A. Cheny has surprised me with his biddable nature, he just wants to please his owner and receive love and attention in return.
Q. Is he okay with his own company when he is left for short periods?
A. Obviously life dictates that on occasions dogs have to be left for short times and YES, Cheny is a good boy and sits on his bed patiently waiting his owners return.
Q. Is he good on a lead.
A. Excellent.

I think that covers everything that has been asked. Please share this and the previous post as we need to find him a loving home soon. He is one of the nicest lads I've met for a long time and deserves a loving home.

CHENY LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME

Firstly, apologies for not having anything to say recently. We have had a couple of issues which have prevented much dog rehoming. However, when we were approached to rehome CHENY, who has been known to us for a while , we couldn't say no!
CHENY is a lovely chap, 5 yrs old , sadly entire but that's easily remedied if desired .He lives with 2 children , one 12 yr old and a 2 yr old , he loves all people of all ages and gets along with other dogs too. The family don't have a cat although one comes into the garden regularly and it still has a tail🤭. CHENY is up to date with his inoculations, is housetrained,is easily trained in every respect actually, he's good on a lead , enjoys his walks and unlike some of his breed he has no health issues.
Why is he looking for a home I hear you wonder? Well it certainly isn't because he is causing issues himself! The answer I was given is that his owner is going to University and feels that along with bringing up her family she doesn't feel able to give CHENY the attention he deserves. She is adamant that he must have the best home out there and unless I'm happy then he won't be going anywhere.
He will fit onto any home environment, with or without children, with owners of any age, actually he'd make an ideal companion dog if Grandma or Grandad needs company.
He's a lovely chap in every respect , so please guys give him your attention and let's find him a home.

THESE GUYS NEED HOMES

This is a bit of a tentative post as this beautiful breed isn't one that I'd usually get involved with, but they are gods creatures too and they need a break.
They are XL Bullies who are about 8 months old and unwanted as the owner is currently sewing mailbags or whatever and the family acknowledge that the dogs need to be in loving experienced homes.
I'm awaiting further details although I understand that they are currently big daft pups , 1 male, 1 female.
There will be an adoption fee for these guys to cover the cost of neutering and home scrutiny .
So please guys, if anyone knows of a suitable home for either of these then please message me.

TILLY HAS A NEW HOME

I am delighted to tell everyone that Tilly has found a new, hopefully forever , home.
Karen her doggy daycarer called me with the good news and I understand that she has informed all the interested people who were kind enough to show interest in adopting Tilly.
She has had a short trial at her new home and is due to go to her new home early June ( presumably a holiday?)
Anyway alls good for Tilly and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who shared my post.

TILLY STILL NEEDS A NEW HOME.

I have to say that I'm surprised that Tilly hasn't got a new home yet.
When asked to assist finding her a new home I thought that I'd be beating people off with a stick, but although I've had one or two enquiries which sadly haven't worked out the much anticipated deluge of enquiries is yet to materialise.
So please share her and ask around your friends.
Tilly , 1 yr old, recently neutered , housetrained Chocolate Lab. Good with other dogs, good with children.
What's not to like?
Please help Tilly.

TILLY STILL LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME

Tilly is still awaiting a new home.
I have to say that I'm quite surprised at the lack of interest in her from this pages community, maybe my ad' wasn't very good or maybe there's no appetite out there to adopt a 1 yr old Chocolate Lab' bitch who is neutered housetrained and family friendly?
Common sense suggests the former😁So please guys, spread the word by sharing etc as Tilly needs a break. I stated that she's a bit excitable but this is only down to lack of time spent enriching her life! She's a gun dog, she is bright, she needs to think that she has a job, don't just walk her let her retrieve something because that's what she was bred to do!
Right I'd better change tack otherwise I can see that I'm heading down a rant🤭So here we have a lovely, friendly ,housetrained, Chocolate Labrador( with maybe a touch of another breed in there- but all the better for that says I !!!) There's a genuine reason for needing a new home and I applaud the owner for taking what must be a difficult decision but doing the right thing for the dogs welfare whilst a home is found( Doggy Daycare- for those of you who missed the previous ad')
She will be ideal in virtually any environment as long as the above grumblings by yours truly are duly noted . She is based on the East of England, Midlands border not far off the A1 so can be easily accessed by many.
Please get sharing as we need to get this lass rehomed.thank you!
Oh btw the mess in the photo is child created ,not canine 🤣

TILLY WANTS A NEW PLACE TO LIVE

Tilly is a year old Chocolate Labrador cross. She is a lovely , friendly girl, a bit excitable at times and needs some basic training but she's bright and very biddable. She is housetrained , good with kids and was spayed 2 months ago.
Her current owner has had a change of circumstances at work and consequently feels that Tilly would be better in a home who can spend more time with her walking her, enriching her life in ways that all dogs require. She is currently going to Doggy Day Care as a temporary measure but this cannot be a permanent situation. Karen at DDC confirms that Tilly is good with other dogs and is exactly as I've stated.
So if anyone wants, or knows someone who wants a lovely friendly girl to light up their life then please message me.

LUIS FINDS HIS NEW HOME

After several weeks of seemingly struggling to find a suitable new home for Luis I was beginning to worry.
Podencos, despite being great characters, aren't suitable for everyone.
So I was delighted to receive news from Craig that Luis has been adopted by Danielle who was one of the initial interest received following my first Facebook advert.
So a big "Thank You"to everyone who shared to their FB friends.

LOUIS STILL LOOKING FOR A HOME

Despite quite a bit of interest poor Louis still hasn't got a new Mum and Dad sadly.
Having had a loving , doting home for the last 4 years it is imperative that we find him the right home .
He is a lovely boy, good in the house, good with other dogs, good on a lead. Housetrained, neutered and fully inoculated. He is ideal for most home environments. He needs a decent fenced garden and an owner who gives him lots of love and plenty of exercise.
As a Podenco he has a high prey drive so great care needs taking on walks otherwise he will bu**er offski after a furry animal given half the chance.
Apart from this foible he is dead easy in every respect.
So please guys, share this post, contact any doggy friends, make no mistake this is very much a rescue situation and he needs a home ASAP.

LOUIS STILL IN NEED OF HELP

Thank you everyone for liking and sharing my post regarding Louis.
However despite several interested parties coming forward, all non drivers living in extreme areas,I can't deliver him hundreds of miles sadly, he still needs someone to take him in! To recap, he's a lovely boy, used to living with other dogs, housetrained, lead trained and an ideal Podenco for someone who loves the look of the breed but doesn't fully have the understanding of owning a selectively bred sight hound ie one that hasn't had any instinct bred out!
In other words, Louis is as close as you can get to an ideal pet!
So please guys, keep up the sharing and liking and help me find him a home.

LOVELY LOUIS NEEDS A NEW HOME
Louis came to the UK fairly recently from Lanzarote.
Sadly family structural changes have forced his owners into seeking a new home for him- they are heartbroken!
Louis is a 6 years old male neutered Podenco, fully inoculated and having lived in a house for around 4 years he is housetrained, lead trained, good with other dogs( nearly all Pods are TBF) .
To my eye he is a stunning chap and if anyone has ever liked the look of the breed but has been put off owning one by listening to people like Yours Truly telling you that as selectively bred hunting dogs they rarely make good pets- then ignore my opinion in this instance as Louis is fully domesticated and will fit in well with most families.
I am sure that he will be fine around kids, possibly not around cats and he will need plenty of good walks, but as previously mentioned he is good with other dogs so he'll happily pal up with your existing pooch.
So, if this gorgeous chap tickles your fancy , or if you know someone who Louis might tickle , then please get back to me.

ETTA LOVING HER NEW FOREVER HOME

We knew that Etta wouldn't have any trouble finding a new home .
When we were asked to foster her in the days leading up to Christmas , it took us about 10 mins to realise that she was indeed pretty special.
Consequently , immediately after the New Year we were visited by Ben and his partner( blank mind, can't recall names)😵‍💫I think that they had fallen for her photo and wanted her before they'd even met her.🤣
So once all the checks were completed she was collected by a very happy couple who are totally besotted with her and Etta, well she'd love anyone back!
It's nice to see the year start so well!

Other good news - Home Check for Scoobs( Onur)on Wednesday !!!!!!

SCOOBs STILL WAITING BUT ENJOYING HIMSELF

Scooby has been back with us for nearly 2 weeks now. We have had a couple of enquiries from our adverts but none as yet have been right for him. I never like telling people that they aren't suitable and we both always like to examine every angle to see if there's an opportunity to adopt. Also his needs aren't complicated, he just needs to be living as someone's best friend. We'll get there!
I thought that you may like to see him playing with my lovely Daisie- she met him the other day and left him in no doubt whatsoever who was in charge , then typically flirted and played catch me ! Poor old Scooby he'd stand more chance of catching his own shadow😂
Please keep sharing guys, a foster home even will do for the moment as he needs to be in a house as soon as possible. He is totally housetrained, great on a lead and such a nice boy who happily accepts time spent in his own company.

LONELY SCOOBS NEEDS A NEW HOME

Earlier on this week I told you that Scooby( Formerly Onur) was being returned to us after 18 months, through no fault of his own.
Well he has now been back in the fold since Monday afternoon and is spending his days in our tack room which is warm but a lonely existence for the lad. He gets out frequently to do his ablutions and has a couple of walks around the fields both on and off his lead and also goes for a daily walk around our nearby large busy village where he meets people, other dogs and walks nicely along busy roads. Yesterday he went for a lunchtime pint with me- he wasn't too keen on Salt n Vinegar crisps so I'll have to try something meatier next time.
He unfailingly gives you abundant love every time he sees you! He showers you with kisses whenever he gets close to your face and he runs to the back of my vehicle every time I let him out as he loves his trip out, in fact I think that he'd happily live in there!
I'm telling you all this to explain what a lovely chap he is and to show that he will absolutely make someone a lovely companion.
He is lonely though as I am keeping him isolated from my pack as several are getting old and frail and don't need this daft sod bouncing around trying to make friends- he does however pass dogs in the street okay and has happily lived with another dog so that's no issue if any interested person already has another dog.
So here we are, he has been assessed , he is lovely , he is clean, he is mega friendly, he loves to travel around and he needs a loving home.
Please rack your brains, search your hearts, share him and lets get him the life he deserves.

WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

Today I received a call from Vicky who adopted a dog fron Lanzarote called Onur.
Now called Scooby( I know! but he likes it) he has been living happily with Vicky her son and partner and another dog .
Unfortunately Vicky has to move through no fault of her own and the place she is being rehoused into doesn't allow dogs!!!
So the lad is coming back to us on Monday- we are full to bursting and the poor chap is going to have to be housed in the barn on his onio , after being used to a nice warm comfy house.
This isn't ideal hence our plea for your help.
Scooby is housetrained , people trained and gets along fine with dogs he knows , he's not aggressive with others rather goes a bit daft instead and he's a fairly big lad
He is a Bardino type which means that he is lovely.(Best dogs ever!!)
Vicky and her lad are in tears, I'm pulling the last tufts of hair out( which wibt make any noticeable difference😂) and Scooby needs a loving home , either on a foster or full time basis.
Can anyone help??
Ideally he needs a fair amount of exercise and lots of love.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

We'd like to wish everyone who is kind enough to read and share our posts a lovely , peaceful and safe Christmas .
After a relatively quiet time since the awful pandemic - which hasn't gone away but has fortunately weakened in strength - we decided to pick up again on the rehoming lark as you all know.
This week you will have seen little Etta who came into our care on Wednesday and immediately stole our hearts.
Well she has continued her theft!
This little poppet is the most endearing character, with eyes that show deep trust and love. She is crying out to be someone or some couples companion for although she has integrated well into our pack , we feel her levels of affection would be so appreciated as an only dog.
Most rescues have issues to overcome , not this lass , she is ready to go to her forever home now.
To reiterate, she is from Romania , is 2 yrs old, is housetrained , lead trained, fully inoculated , neutered and chipped.

ETTA NEEDS A HOME
Today I collected the lovely Etta from her first foster home in the UK.
She immediately attached herself to me and I quickly learned how well she travelled in a vehicle- she sat on the passenger seat and spent the whole of the journey home looking at me and trying to get me to hold her paw!!
She's gorgeous !!
She then met the home pack who as per usual in the main treated her with total indifference, apart from Daisie that is who gave her a good bollocking then played with her😂
So the little lass has now had a walk( always good for dog bonding ) ate up all her meal and is stretched out at my feet. Daisie has the nice bed on the other side of my chair😂
Etta arrived in the UK about 3 weeks ago from Romania and waited in a temporary foster until we were able to accommodate her with a view to finding a forever new home.
She is approx 2 years old, neutered, microchipped, fully inoculated, wormed and flea'd prior to entry into the country.
She is lovely about the house, fabulous with other dogs and brilliant on a lead.
She will make an ideal companion dog for most individuals circumstances and is small enough to be a lapdog but not too small- about the size of a fox terrier.
Please forward to anyone that you think may like this adorable little dog.

FLOR, COMING TO THE UK VERY SOON
Flor currently lives in a villa in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote.
Her owners are flying back to the UK in February (early March at the latest). Sadly the house they are returning to isn't going to be big enough to house Flor so they have asked if we can help find her a home when she arrives here.
She is 9 years old and has lived with the same people since 2017 and is housetrained, people trained ,soft furnishing trained, lead trained etc etc. In other words unlike most Podencos that arrive in the UK she is adoptable for most dog loving and dog suitable households!
Loving, sweet and soft as the proverbial, good with other dogs, this lass has so much going for her!
Realistically she has another 4 ,5 or 6 years left to live and as many owners of older Podencos will tell you, as they get older their characters become even more endearing. That probably goes for most older dogs to be fair!
Neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated.
So if you like the look of these comical dogs but have had reservations because of the obvious extra work when adopting a hound bred to hunt then this could be the lady for you.
Please rack your brains for a potential home guys, or search your hearts to see if you can find room for this lady, I don't think you will be disappointed.

ARLO IN CLOVER
Yesterday young ARLO was collected by Heather and Dave ( you may recall they sadly lost the lovely Popeye earlier this year?).
I collected him from his old home earlier in the day, the poor chap then had to endure a few hours with our lot, all taken in his stride to be fair and was whisked off to the north east in good time to be in his new home and settled before tea!
So the lightly travelled little man viewed 3 homes, numerous dogs who lost patience with him in about 5 mins😁 and travelled more in a day than probably the rest of his life collectively!
Heather tells me that he is settling in well though and crucially to us, that she thinks he is fabulous.
So not a bad days work I reckon, oh and I got a request for a Bardino too!

ARLO has a new home.
Thank you everyone who showed interest, enquired about or shared the information about ARLO .
I'm delighted to confirm that he is due to move to the North East in a couple of weeks to live with Heather and her family.
Heather you may recall tragically lost the gorgeous Popeye a few months ago and I know still misses him terribly and rightly so of course. Anyhow, ARLO will thrive in Heathers expert loving care.
It's nice when stuff comes together🥳

ARLO STILL WAITING PATIENTLY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME.
I was asked for more photos of this little chap, so here you go.
The more I see of this fella the more he gets under my skin.
They are characterful dogs with many seemingly humanlike traits and to my mind ARLO is particularly handsome.
An ideal age, 18 months old housetrained, over his puppyhood but still tremendous fun. Good with his fellow canines, good with people and kids.
What's not to love?
Oh and for avoidance of doubt, he is a UK dog and resides in the UK!!
I must re-design this page, maybe tomorrow .

FAB LITTLE CHAP LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME
Arlo( I reckon thats how its spelt) is an 18 month old Frenchie who has been in one home all his life, he is super smart, housetrained, good with people, kids and other dogs. Fully inoculated but sadly still entire! He was bought towards the end of lockdown so I'll leave you to guess why he is looking for a new home but from what we can see theres nothing bad to report. Also, Frenchies have a bad reputation for breathing issues, this chap seems fine! There will be an adoption fee as the current owner would like some recompense but it will be nothing like the extortionate amount she paid and although obtaining a pet did not ought to be about this. So if you know of anyone who is looking for a young cute chap like Arlo please message me.

STILL HERE AND STILL TRYING TO HELP DOGS!

I know that I have been quiet for ages on this page. The reason to be perfectly honest is that the page was set up to assist finding homes for SARA dogs. About a year ago we took the decision to end our affiliation with the aforesaid and although I have alluded to this, I havent explicitly stated as such! It hasnt been a decision we have taken lightly! However we felt that with the lack of empathy shown by the shelter which made every shipment a trial frankly, there comes a time to move on. Over the years we have taken many dogs from the hot hard shelter where the dogs are safe and well fed but stressed. We have had dogs arrive in the UK without a microchip, dogs arrive with operable growths, with little or no time left on their vaccinations. I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to the reason for all this, suffice to say that only the microchip mistake was financially reimbursed and then only when my good friend James ensured we didnt suffer further. Indeed I'd like to express my gratitude to my occasionally grumpy old mate, as without his tremendous support we would have moved on many years ago and far fewer dogs would have obtained their release! BTW we have only taken one shipment of dogs from SARA since Covid, this was a mainly funded through generous donations as they were old and we stood little or no chance of recouping much of the flight costs; 2 dogs arrived with less than 2 months vaccinations left and one had a growth on her leg which cost £900 to remove prior to offering up for adoption! I could go on but that wont help the dogs as little changes or is ever likely. Having said we wish everyone who supports the SARA dogs all the very best of luck- every dog who is rehomed is a victory ! RIGHT!!! moving on, just because I am not trekking around the country in the middle of the night collecting SARA dogs from the airport and wondering what surprises are in store, doesnt mean that we have given up offering help to the dogs in need. There are many shelters who are well run, supportive and grateful for help and consequently our poor long suffering pack still have to endure the patter of ( not always tiny) paws , who tend to find their feet and then find a new loving home. Furthermore we often get asked to help rehome unwanted pets from people who know of our work locally. Perhaps I ought to rename the page in order to represent more accurately what we are about. Also I have a cute little chap currently looking for a home but I'll b**g this on another post in a minute. Take care everyone .

HEATHER, WE FEEL YOUR HURT

I recently heard some very sad news regarding the lovely Popeye who came over to the UK a few years ago.
Anyone who has owned and lost a dog will empathise with Heather.
When rehousing dogs I always worry if we have found them the right home.
I reckon we definitely managed that with Popeye, bless him.
Here’s Heathers note.

Popeye

We had to say goodbye to our gorgeous baby boy 2 weeks ago. He had a large cancerous growth attached to his small intestine, unfortunately it couldn’t be removed or treated. When we saw him on this page we fell in love with him and knew that we had to have him. We didn’t know much about Bardinos but comments on the page said that they were loyal and protective, they weren’t wrong! When I met him he just followed Richard around and I said that’s what I want him to do with me, he didn’t let me down. He was a fantastic little sidekick to all of us. The house is so quiet and we miss him so much but we treasure the time we had with him and the memories that we’ve made, it’s so hard just typing this, we are heartbroken 🌈😢💔
