This month's webinar is all about helping our dogs learn to switch off and pause! Many dogs become frustrated in situations as they do not know what to do! We often concentrate our training on activities - recall, lead walking, gundog training, agility, etc. and often miss out on helping them learn to settle, be patient, and relax.
In the webinar, we will work on -
✅ Small changes you can make to your dog's daily routine to help
✅ Cooling off signals
✅ Dog parking
✅ Settle work
✅ Off lead heel - to reset them when overstimulated

The off lead 'heel or behind' 🐾
I LOVE this cue for my guys, especially for Emmy! Emmy gets a little 'wild' when out walking off lead (she has good recall so is under control), but she runs and runs and runs, when she runs so much she gets a little frazzled as she is over stimulated and pumped full of adrenaline.
So every now and again I ask my guys to 'heel or behind' which means they can walk by me or behind me, not in front.
This resets Emmy so when I release her she is calmer and less like a bulldozer in the undergrowth (think velociraptor in Jurassic Park😂)
This was trained with reinforcement (treats) but now she doesn't need them. I think she enjoys it, almost soothing for her to get a break from such a stimulating environment 💛
Meet Corrie 🧡
Corrie is super friendly to all people and dogs, he is a social butterfly! Today Corrie and his owner travelled up to Perth, from the Central Belt, to work on his loose lead walking and recall. He aced it - happy, relaxed and attentive 🙌
Happy training Corrie 🧡
Working spaniel Izzy rocking her loose lead walking training 🙌
Today is moving day! The movers are loading up the lorries so I ran away with the ladies to a run free field and all Emmy wanted to do was run 💛
Perfect afternoon to hang out with my babes at Archie's Dog Acres 😌
Emmy's Beach Recall to Whistle
I absolutely LOVE training recall to a whistle. I just find whistles are a much more consistent sound than our voice and once trained you get beautiful recall like this...
The Acme whistles are for sale in the Karen's DOGS online store.

Want to learn how to train a reliable recall to whistle? Join Devoted to Dogs to find out (there is a 7 day free trail available). Our training videos show and talk you through everything you need to know 🥳

Many owners have been getting in touch for help to train their puppy as the classes they were signed up to have been cancelled or moved online. There is normally a 4-6 week waiting list for a 1-2-1 session at Karen's DOGS, however to help all these owners I have opened up my days off 🤗
Early training is vital for pups to get into good habits!
Until told otherwise, Karen's DOGS will continue as normal. Sessions happen in your home, garden and/or out on dogs walks. Our hygiene is strict - washing hands before and after visiting and not sharing clickers/treats bag etc.

Happy training 👊
Working with Islay on recall this morning ❤️ look at her ears fly 🤣
Puppy rocket recall!
Puppy rocket recall! Here is Kobi working on his recall last week :) This was his first time in Polkemmet Country Park so many smells he wanted to explore (which we let him do)! He did such a wonderful job!
Visual stimulation for the babes at Vogrie Park before our 1-2-1 🥰
Life and dogs walks don't need to be at 100mph 💨
Visual stimulation is my favourite part of our dog walks. We sit and watch the world go by 😊
We take in the environment, enjoy each others company and the dogs learn to be calm 😌
(Barr isn't here as she is still recovering from her operation and getting separate, on lead walks)
