Meet Sam 💙

Sam landed on his 4 paws after being rescued by his current owners. He lacked confidence around traffic, noises, sudden movements and objects that are in a new place.

His dedicated owners have been patient, understanding and so kind giving him space and time to process all these new, worrying things!

He has improved greatly! He can walk along a pavement next to cars and be off lead in the park enjoying play time with dogs.

Happy training Sam 💙

Meet Bonnie 🧡

This beautiful girl lacks confidence in a few situations, which is completely understandable as she is a rescue - everything she was now seeing was new and scary!

We put some training in place to build up her confidence, reduce her anxiety and increase her focus on her owners when out walking.

She is super smart, keen to learn, has dedicated owners and LOVES to relax on the sofa (see pics!)

Happy training Bonnie 🧡

Training Tip 💙

With cold, frosty, wintery weather comes cold hands, especially when out walking and training your dog. When I want to wear gloves, I change my rewards so my gloves don't get covered in treats!

Here are some of my (and my dog's favourites) -

🐾 Arden grange liver paste
🐾 Primula cheese
🐾 Pet munchies training treats
🐾 Kibble
🐾 Or fill your own squeezy tube with your dog's wet food (or anything that will suit their tummy)

Keep warm 💙

Sometimes life is a little bit lonely, especially when working on changing your dog's behaviour, I get it and I am here for you 💙

I am now including a monthly client group call into all behavioural session packages. This is available to new clients and also clients who are in the middle of their packages - I have sent everyone an email about how to join in.

In the call, I will cover one new topic each month (e.g. lead walking, recall, reducing your dog's stress, how to manage behaviour, how to change your dog's emotional response and much more) then there will be time to ask questions.

Clients are welcome to join in every month or pick and choose what topics they join in for. It is flexible and optional.

I want to ensure everyone is supported as much as possible and can come together with other people in the same boat as them 🚣‍♀️

Much love 💙

Happy New Year & THANK YOU 💙

Thank you so all my previous, current and new clients. It is a joy coming into a new year and working with you all.

I am back in the office from today so I will reply to everyone very soon. I had a lovely time over the holidays with my family on (very cold) walks, I ate lots, did lots of crafting projects with my Mum and niece and had naps with the dogs 🥰 I hope you and your dogs had a lovely time filled with lots of treats!

Meet Meara and Arlo 🩷

This beautiful pair are super smart and fun to be around! Meara could be a little nervous of other dogs when out walking, so we worked on building up her confidence and engagement towards her owners. Arlo joined in for some extra walks and treats - he was the best cheerleader for Meara!

Happy training Meara 🩷

Meet Miller ❤

This handsome man could struggle to give up items that he is stolen and to remain calm when an object with two wheels moved past him when out walking.

We worked on adding more mental stimulation activities into his day and more SLEEP! This lovely man wanted to be with his owner throughout the day who works from hone - this is great company but caused Miller to becomes over tired (a little bit like a cranky toddler!)

His dedicated owners trained him to settle in his crate throughout the day for naps! We also taught him to feel more comfortable when people approached him when he had one of his 'treasures' he had stolen and rewarded his calm behaviour around bikes and scooters.

Happy training Miller ❤

Training Tip 💙

When training recall we do need to reward our dogs heavily to build up the association that coming back to us is a wonderful option.

BUT... your dog might not always want what you think they want. Some days they might want treats, some days a ball, sometimes their favourite toy and/or chase game.

It sounds obvious right? But we often get stuck in the routine of taking the same rewards with us when walking/training.

Take a few different rewards with you when out walking and see what your dog is in the mood for. We must ensure the reward is reinforcing for our dog!

Give it a go 💙

Meet Thiago 🧡

This man is awesome (and so are his dedicated owners)! I absolutely love working with chihuahuas 🥰

Thiago can struggle to remain calm around other dogs when out walking which results in him barking and lunging towards them. His owners have worked hard to put measures in place in their home to help him feel more relaxed and training when out walking to build up his confidence. After a couple of weeks working on the training he is much calmer when out walking already. His owners are continuing to work through our plan.

Happy training Thiago 🧡

Teach your dog what TO DO not what NOT TO DO!

It is very common that people will often stop their dog walking and turn to walk the other way when their dog pulls on the lead. I can absolutely see the reason behind this - you are stopping your dog from getting to the distraction they are pulling towards to ensure they are not rewarded for pulling.

HOWEVER, I often find that the dog gets distracted by something new in the opposite direction, which then causes them to pull again.

INSTEAD motivate your dog to walk by your side, even if distractions are present, so they do not pull on the lead in the first place.

You can do this by marking (by clicking or saying "yes") when they are by your side and rewarding them. Over time, the pulling will reduce as your dog learns what behaviour TO DO.

Happy training 💙 x
