One of the many reasons not to buy guinea pigs from a pet shop. This is totally unethical and irresponsible behaviour. So sad :(

The owner of these guinea pigs was sold a "male" guinea pig.
When she contacted Petco and explained her surplus guinea pig predicament due to their mistake, she was told they would not take them, but the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue would. YES! Petco and Petsmart routinely tell people to bring guinea pigs born from their mistakes to this underfunded, overwhelmed rescue.

In fact, when I purchased sick little Triffic (since adopted by me), undercover at a local Petco (to prove that they sell very sick animals), I asked what to do if I could not keep him anymore, and the manager told ME to bring him to the LA Guinea Pig Rescue.

Thank you again Petco! Much appreciated.
