🐾PEAK ADVENTURE DAYS🐾

So excited that we will be adding Peak adventure walks in 2024, spaces will be limited so get bookings in early.

We will be taking the dogs on super amazing walks in the peaks where they will get to explore new environments.

walks will be 1.5-3hrs and may involve on and off lead.

Dogs will be collected and dropped off at home, so great if you’re going out for the day and want your dog to have that longer walk.

seems to be a theme today 😊

sniffing fulfils a major part of dogs sensory needs - as much as physical and mental exercise does and as much as play does. Sniffing makes them happy and gives them an outlet for their hard-wired natural behaviours.

Who has been putting in the work ready for fireworks season? 🎆

Over the last few weeks we have been playing firework sounds at a low level as background noise, increasing the volume when I feel it fit too.

We have been having treat time with fireworks going off, calm time and play time too.

Today I have started Hazel on Zyklene chewables to build up in her system to help her ready for the weekend.

Hazel's crate is always up and this week I will be putting covers over the top of it to help dampen the noise should she choose to go in there.

She won't be going out on a walk in the evening this week in case she is spooked by a sudden bang.

Last year Hazel wasn't too bothered by them but she can be noise sensitive at times so I have worked on a plan to help prep her just in case.

It's one of those worst nightmare scenarios, your dog is playing happily with a ball and then you realise, it's actually a tad too small and now your dog is choking on it. Or, it's found a stick and a piece has broken off and stuck itself into the back of your dog's throat.

What are you going to do to save your dog? If you really don't know, then you need to be on our Toolbox Talk on Monday 6th November. Rachel Bean, a qualified and RCVS registered vet nurse and one of the best First Aid teachers going, is talking to us about managing a choke situation, bleeding and heat stroke.
