Five Sisters Zoo-Circus Bear Appeal

Can you believe it was four years ago today, that we got our first proper glimpse of the bears as they emerged from the den area after arriving just before midnight on the 29th March 2012? What a privilege to have been able to witness their gradual rehabilitation and recovery. Carmen, Peggy & Suzy are now awake following their 4 successful hibernation.... a massive thank you to our mentor Else Poulsen for her amazing advise, support and most importantly friendship. We also have the most amazing supporters and again a huge thank you to everyone who has helped the bears in any way - we have 3 healthy, content bears.

As part of the bears enrichment we give them willow browse - Suzy looks as if she's pinned down with this lot, but she loves playing with the branches!

Hello Peggy!

Lovely to catch a glimpse of Peggy Bear on Saturday when she came out briefly to stretch her legs... didn't stay out for long thought - she probably knew the freezing cold winds and snow were on their way! She's looking well, her coat is in great condition and she's still carrying excess weight to see her through the rest of her hibernation.

We've not seen Peggy for the last couple of days, so think she's decided it's time to start her winter sleep - well done Peggy we are all jealous! Sleep well special bear.

Tickets are now available for Thursday 22nd May for a bear experience night from 6.30 - 9.30pm. Includes a brief tour of the Zoo, an exclusive behind the scenes look at the bears, a documentary film, buffet & drinks and an informative talk with question/answer session.
