The Heart of the Forest section of the New Forest Show has won The Presidents Cup, for best in show. The NFDOG stand is one of those recognised and Section Chairman David Humbert dropped by to say thanks land show off the trophy🏆

Picking up your dogs poo 💩 is essential so that everyone can enjoy the forest safely and cleanly. It is also believed leaving dog poo on the forest has a detrimental effect for the wildlife that call it home.

There is no excuse for not picking up after your dog but to make it that little bit easier, at Calshot beach NFDC provide bags for you ☺️💩

MEET THE COMMITTEE
Tracey Wright: Secretary to the Committee
Tracey relocated to the New Forest in 2015. Having been raised on a farm she has lived with dogs, horses, cows and many other types of animals! Now based in Burley she currently has a German Shepherd and a Springador and is particularly keen to promote animal welfare and responsible dog ownership amongst visitors and locals alike.

MEET THE COMMITTEE
David Bennett: Communications & Press officer
David, who is also NFDOG's Deputy Chairman, was brought up in New Milton, and now lives in Brockenhurst. The family have kept Border Collies - a hangover from his Grandmother who lived in Ashley and used to win awards (including Crufts) for her Collies. Current dog, Duke, is a rescue from the Dogs Trust. David was a journalist in the BBC (including running the newsroom at BBC Radio Solent), then managed PR for Dorset and Southampton Councils, before running his own media consultancy company before retiring in 2018. He first Joined NFDOG in 2005, and enjoys volunteering for NFDOG and other groups.

One of the roles NFDOG plays is helping visitors understand the special qualities of the New Forest and how we behave and protect it. Again this year we’ve distributed more than 100 posters and other material to campsites and hotels. Last year, despite assurances from the printer, they faded in the sun! So David Bennett, our Deputy Chair, has just been round checking the (reprinted with new promises from the printer) signs are holding up. Mind you, that may not be because they’re properly UV proof this time, it may simply reflect the summer we’re having!

NFDOG is continuing to recruit new Ambassadors, dog related businesses in the forest who help us promote responsible ownership and behaviour. They also offer good discounts and offers to NFDOG members (who can see the list in the members area of the website or by logging in to the ‘phone app). Membership of NFDOG is just £5.00 a year, as it’s always been. You can save this in one hit by applying the discounts through our Ambassador partners.
