Another Home Visit for General Behaviour completed this week. The next step is a follow-up after a few weeks of following the training, but judging from the results we have anyway seen in a couple of hours round should be fine for this mini Dachshund and his owners 🙂

A home visit today for this handsome fella, who was driving Mum and Dad mad with his relentless attention seeking and constant wanting to play or creating games out of being told to stop. With the right approach we saw results within the hour and witn continued discussion whilst only giving attention at the right time they had a nice relaxed dog at the end of my initial 2 hour visit.
Over to the owners now to carry on the training before we speak again in 2 weeks' time.

Yet for some reason (again) the Google review is not showing up on the YES Google business page 😕 - this pic has been sent from the client herself to say she's had left a review.

Anyone else have this issue? That's at least three times it's happened for me. It's not right when you're trying to build a brand properly and fairly based purley on your good work and hard earned reputation.

Does your dog jump up at you or other people? 🐕 Here’s a few tips to help stop this:

🐾 Don’t respond if your dog does jump up - wait for them to stop. Then reward them when all four paws are back on the floor.
🐾 Don’t tell your dog off for jumping up. They’re more likely to learn that jumping up gets you to look at them, talk to them and touch them.
🐾 If you’re consistent, your dog will quickly learn what works to get your attention and what doesn’t. Make sure all your family and friends are on board with training.

Something to try if your dog gets really overexcited or anxious when you arrive somewhere in the car. Of course there are many other things we can look at and very specific training that you can do - in fact I've worked with a very barky/screechy dog this week, we spent some time working on a calmer approach to the car and getting in, reverse psychology for when the dog is in the car barking for owner to get in, encouraging calm in the car, and finally getting out of the car without over-excitement and barking. Within 2 hours we were driving to places in Cirencester, getting out of the car having a small walk and getting back in the car with very little barking at all. The owner also commented that the walks were easy and more enjoyable compared to her usual experience where the excitement and barking would have just carried on normally. All in all it was a good afternoons work. 👍🐾

Let’s talk rescue dogs!

With the current flood of dogs in rescue, we’re seeing more and more rescues & rehomes coming through the training centre.
⠀
Many dogs are relinquished for behavioural issues or behaviour that doesn’t suit their former lives.
⠀
Rescues centres and fosters work hard to correct these issues before they go to their forever homes, however, there is frequently regression.
⠀
Regression is normal! Your life, routine, home etc are all different to their previous one.
⠀
But
⠀
This doesn’t mean you need to live with that issue, training will help your new dog to settle into your life, gain fulfilment and generally learn how to live in harmony with you and your family.
⠀
Just because a dog has a past doesn’t mean it needs to live with the issues that come from that, dogs are dogs, no matter their history.
