Me and 'the kids' have been out and about again today, we are really lucky to live quite close to Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey so we visit often (and make full use of our National Trust membership), this morning we did Studley and then this afternoon we did a trip round Fountains Abbey (I'm currently on 16,551 steps :0) - the post the other day about whether Grassington was good for reactive dogs went down well so I wrote one for Studley as well :0) https://clickingwithcanines.co.uk/are-you-thinking-of-a-visit-to-studley-royal-with-your-reactive-dog-is-it-a-good-idea-yes-0/

Where do all the pheasants go to avoid the muppets with guns ?? Fountains Abbey apparently 😂😂 - Not so daft after all !!!

Yes, I know Mouse is on a flexi lead but she has to be on lead so this gives her abit more freedom to explore all the amazing smells on offer.

Woohoo - she’s spreading her wings 🧡🧡🧡.

I love mentoring trainers and behaviourists who are looking to expand their knowledge and skills, so I’m rather proud that Casey has decided it’s time to set up her own classes (she’s still helping out at puppy class - don’t worry 😊). If you would like to spend more time with your dog training please drop her a message and get booked on 😊.

⭐️ A Little Help From My Friends ⭐️

I’ve finally got myself organised 🎉 and I’m putting on some guided group training sessions-
“A Little Help From My Friends” (originally created by Clicking With Canines).

This isn’t your typical training class — it’s a relaxed, supportive environment where you and your dog can work on your own training goals with the added benefit of being around other dogs and people.

Think of it as your personal training time… but with some built-in distractions and a helping hand! 🐶

Here’s what makes it special:

🐾 Practice your training in a secure, controlled space with other dogs and people nearby
🐾 Build focus and confidence around real-life distractions
🐾 Work on calmness and self-control when excitement levels rise
🐾 Strengthen your bond so your dog sees you as the most rewarding thing around
🐾 Enjoy a safe, respectful environment — no dog or person will approach without permission

I’ll be there throughout the session to offer guidance, answer questions, and support you as you practice.

📅 When: Sundays at 10:05–10:50 AM
📍 Where: Happy Paws Dog Park
🗓️ Starting: Sunday 16th November- Sunday 7th December
💷 Cost: £50 for a 4-week block

Please note:
🚫 This is not a socialisation class
🐕‍🦺 This class is not suitable for reactive or anxious dogs who find it difficult to be around other dogs or people.
🎯 This is a guided practice session, not a teaching class — you’ll work on your own training goals using the presence of other dogs and people to help strengthen your training skills.

If you are interested, please give the page a message and we can double check it’s the right fit for you and your dog 🐶

We all know our dogs can be clever little things — and some quickly learn that grabbing something they shouldn’t have can spark a brilliant game of “catch me if you can!” 🐾Fun for them… less so for us! 😅 […]

I wasn't going to, I was going to try and have some time off, just an evening here and there but......... in the last 12 hours I have had 4 puppy class enquiries and you know I can't say no to a puppy so I've added another class before Christmas !!!!

A few spots have already gone so if you would like to join us please be quick, - it's a Monday evening at 6.15pm at Hopewell dog park and it positively is the last class of 2025 (I'm starting to sound like a liar lol :0)

Me and ‘the kids’ went off adventuring today and headed out to Grassington (we were going to go to Bolton Abbey but they wanted £15 for parking which seemed a bit steep when there was just me :0).

We planned to do the Grassington to Hebden walk in the Hiiker app - it was meant to be just over 5 miles but we got lost a couple of times so we ended up doing 6 😂😂 (Amos hasn’t forgiven me yet 😊).

I (and I think the kids did as well) thoroughly enjoyed it although it certainly felt like I went up more hills than I came down 😂.

If you fancy giving it a go I’ve a couple of thoughts:

Reactive dog notes - there are lots of wide open spaces but a good proportion of the route is down old drovers paths so walls on either side. Some were wider than others but could be problematic if you met another dog heading the opposite way. That said we went on a Friday
morning and saw maybe 6 other walkers the entire time.

You do also have to walk through the village and down the side of the road so car chasers may struggle - although it is only a few 100m.

Old dogs (and people 😂). There are quite alot of stiles on the route and a fair few are the really difficult ones where you just know the farmers hate walkers 😂. Amos struggled with quite a few (Mouse just hopped over and stood laughing at us oldies struggling) and had to be unceremoniously hoiked over 😊😊.

Approx half the fields we went through had sheep in, thankfully no cows otherwise I’d have been turning round 😂 and very little road walking (apart from the start and finish and quite a long stretch at the end - but we only saw one car on there and there was a verge :0)

The views make up for the big hills but I’ll be having words with apple if it thinks that was just ‘moderate’ 😂😂

Do you have a window barker ???

I should have said in the video that you don’t have to live with your curtains closed all the time. You can get some lovely window films online.

I sadly had to say there was no room at the inn to two puppies today who wanted to join puppy class - I hate saying no but I keep classes small so every puppy gets the time they need from me and Casey.

It is never too early to book your puppy classes, but it can be too late sometimes :0( - please get in touch if you'd like to join us in the New Year (yes, I did say next year lol).

Mouse is currently snoozing after all the brainwork at her scentwork class - Dougie the tuggie made an appearance as we were working out what her top reinforcers were - no surprise that Dougie beat treats 😂😂. Positively Canine

*this isn’t how we usually play tug 😂😂 - I was chatting through next steps with Jo while madam entertained herself 😂

I am I soooooo much trouble this morning 😂😂. Mouse is starting scentwork with Auntie Jo at Positively Canine this afternoon and we have to take a few of her favourite things - I’ve been gathering them up and putting them in my bag ready - madam is not impressed with that turn of events - she wants them now 😂😂😂

Our Story

Thank you for stopping by. Clicking with Canines specialises in offering affordable 1-2-1 dog training, usually in your own home. I can work with you on all aspects of training from getting a new puppy through to enrichment for your golden oldies. I specialise in working with ‘reactive’ dogs, those who bark or lunge at other dogs / cars / people when out and about. My website www.clickingwithcanines.co.uk gives more in depth information about the areas I cover. The training I provide is designed to be fun for you and your dogs and uses lots of games. I only use force free methods which incorporate the things your dog likes best, such a treats and toys. I am happy to chat through your training needs before you decide whether to go ahead.
