Parkside Veterinary Surgery was first established in 1979 as a single centre practice based in New Ferry on the Wirral. Operating to the highest medical and surgical standards on both a first opinion and referral basis has led to the steady growth of a large and loyal client base, provided for by the two surgeries existing today. Clients may book appointments for their pets throughout the day at all three surgeries. Surgical and investigative facilities are to be found at the New Ferry surgery.
Unfortunately today we will be open shorter hours than usual, we will be open 9am-4pm, after that our out of hours provider will be able to help you: Medivet Alder 24
We are closed for a staff meeting until 11am today. Our phones are currently diverted to the Bromborough branch.

Unfortunately today we have had a black female cat brought in deceased, she is microchipped but there are no owner details recorded. She was found in Canterbury Close. If you think she may be yours please get in touch.
🐱There's only 1 month left before the cat microchipping law comes into force.🐈
All cats over 20 weeks of age will need to be microchipped as of the 10th of June.
If you are not sure if your cat is microchipped get in touch and we can arrange to scan for a chip, and implant one if your cat is not already chipped.
Unfortunately we will be CLOSED tomorrow, Saturday the 27th of April.
If you need urgent assistance Medivet Alder, our 24 hour hospital, is there all weekend to look after your pets. Phoning our nunber as normal will put you through directly to them.
We will be open again as normal on Monday.
Our New Ferry family got a bit bigger on Sunday as Claire had her beautiful baby Albie ❤️
Sadly we have had a deceased cat handed in today, he is a black and white un-nutered male, he is not chipped. If you think he could be yours please get in touch.
One of our most unusual patients came in last week to see Maria: Sparky the Little Owl 🦉
She had a swollen foot, so we anaesthetised her and took X Rays on our dental X Ray machine because her foot is so small!
The X Rays have been sent to an exotics specialist for further advice.
She was very well behaved throughout!
🐶🐱Happy National Pets Day!🐹🐰
Pets are the reason for everything we do at New Ferry, so to celebrate them here are our beautiful staff pets! Add your own lovely pets below!
Beautiful Sage came in to see Mr Gemmill yesterday. She found some rare rays of sunshine, settled down in her basket and went to sleep! ❤️
Gorgeous Red enjoys booking his own appointments at the desk 🐶
Last weekend we went out for a baby shower for our beautiful mum to be Claire 👶🍼
Not long left now until the little one makes an appearance!
We’ve been made aware of a scam that could affect pet owners.
This involves a request from an unknown number impersonating Medivet and asking for payment via a link. Usually a text, but possibly an email; there may be mention that your pet is injured or needing treatment.
Please ensure that you follow the standard precautions on avoiding scammers and always call the practice with any questions.
UPDATE: the road is open on the New Ferry side of the practice, so our car park is now accessible, but only from the New Ferry side.
Unfortunately due to a police incident New Chester Road is currently closed and the practice is not accessible. We hope that the road will be re opened as soon as possible, but if you have an appointment and are concerned please contact reception on 0151 644 8918
Marisa had a thank you gift from one of our lovely clients yesterday ❤️ 💐 after a beautiful cat sadly had to be put to sleep.
We are all really grateful for how kind and appreciative you are, it really makes dealing with the tough bits of the job more bearable 💖
Lots of love from the whole team at New Ferry 💕
✨️Meet The Team Monday Returns!✨️
Many of you will know our vet Marisa, who joined the team in October last year!
She has come to us all the way from Madrid, despite the UK's terrible weather 🌧☔️
She loves cats and if she goes missing cat ward is where we look for her first, if she's not having a sneaky cat cuddle then she might be found in the lab glued to the microscope, as she also enjoys examining ear cytology slides! 🔬
When she's not in work she can be found hiding from the cold, tucked up in her home playing video games 🎮
Marisa embedded herself into the team from the moment she arrived, and we couldn't imagine life without her ❤️
Maria's dog Raffi came in last week for a keyhole spay with Mr Gemmill and she was very well behaved, for once!
*UPDATE - OWNER FOUND*
We have had a small black female cat brought in this morning, she seems to be elderly and is very poorly. If you think she may be yours please get in touch.
*UPDATE* OWNER FOUND!
We have had a cat brought in this morning from Salisbury Drive who we suspect has been involved in a car accident. He is a neutered male, black and white with a red velvet collar. He is in a serious, but stable condition.
If you think he might be yours please get in touch as soon as possible.
The utterly adorable Molly and Barney visited us this afternoon for their second puppy vaccinations ❤️ Can you guess what they are?
Sadly we have had a deceased cat brought in today. He is an entire male, he is black with white paws, chest, chin and a white ring around his tail. If you think he might be yours please get in touch.

The final stage is suturing the stomach wall to the abdominal musculature. Most of the patients recover to their normal selves within a day..... lead exercise for two to three weeks .......then off they go!
The EPIC heart trial (Efficacy of Pimobendan In Dogs) showed that dogs with louder heart murmurs and enlarged hearts but NO clinical signs of heart failure can benefit greatly from treatment with a drug called Pimobendan. We are able to evaluate this with radiography and echocardiography. Here's a clip we made earlier today! (owner has consented to us presenting this video)
Such a busy day ..... emergency Caesarian, liver laparoscopic biopsies! Whole practice managed to sit down for lunch at half-past two, exhausted but what a great team! James Brown to make us smile 😂
Just a short clip of a puppy's heart beating inside the womb - the aorta (first artery leaving the left side of the heart can be seen filling with each beat!! Its amazing what gadgets we have to play with here! :)
Cody came all the way from Wales today to show how well he has done following a TTA operation for a ruptured cruciate ligament with Mr Gemmill at Parkside last May! A success from the great vets at Caerwys Practice that recognised the problem, the super care from the team at Parkside to the care and physio given by his lovely owners! #allvetsaresuper
.......... extended version showing the fantastic Parkside team during our day operating in Llandudno last week! 😊
