Golden Cross Equestrian Centre today for SMP EVENTS - Equestrian Events show jumping… we put our brave pants on & went straight in at 75 then followed that up with the 80… he’s still awesome!! 😎 3rd 🥉 in the 75 and then 2nd 🥈 in the 80!!! He got to do 2 roundy roundy’s & he’s now back out stuffing his face in the sunshine ☀️ Thanks to Jess for the videos and pics, was great to see you guys today

Busy weekend with a trip to Warwickshire for the Silver Spur on Saturday and then some fun in the sun with Toby ❤️ on Sunday on the final charity ride of the season 🐎 Summer holidays for the boys now, meaning a busy couple of months for Baby B… starting with a a grid clinic this week # ❤️

Here we go again 😞 Dosed up & tucked up after an emergency vets visit 🚑 Now for a long night in the lorry 🚛 On the plus side at least he’s waited for summer this time so I’m not going to freeze, just a shame he had to pick the night of the power cut 🙄 Fingers crossed for tomorrow, hoping he’s not as damaged as feared 🤞🤞🤞

This is my ‘slightly soft’ lorry tyre 😱 So glad I listened to myself & didn’t take it on Saturday 🫣 The lorry has been in regular use lately & there was no warning bang when driving!

A stark reminder to always check your tyres before loading up your precious cargo!!

Clever Baby B bagged himself a 7th place in a big 70cm class at Golden Cross yesterday 🥰 His confidence & boldness has grown so much of late that he attempted to one stride the 2 stride double 🙈 in the 70cm and then in the 80cm he actually did one stride the 2 stride double 😱✈️🤣
It’s amazing to see the change in him over the last couple of months, the leaps & launches 🚀 these days (of which there were a few yesterday) are generally through boldness & enjoyment rather than terror! Hopefully as the exuberance calms the brakes will return 🤞
Massive thanks to Eileen for taking us in the trailer when I discovered a soft tyre on the lorry and also to Jess for the videos 📹

A dawn wake up call for the boys before a lovely early morning ride up on the Downs ☀️ Baby B got the chance to release his inner racehorse 🐎 & they were back in their field & filthy dirty by lunch time 🦛😂 ☀️

So today we jumped our first 90 course 🎉🎉🎉

We toddled off to Crockstead Equestrian Centre for their Clear Round day where you arrive, pick your height & then jump as many rounds as you like. We started over a 70cm course & he happily flew round without a care in the world so we decided to have them put up to 90cm for our 2nd round… yes we had number 4 down by just catching a toe behind but my god he was awesome 🤩 It’s hard to believe this is the same Baby B who used to have a meltdown over a pole on the floor!! 🥰

So today we did something I never thought we’d ever do… BabyB went to South Brockwells Farm Mini One Day Event!!! 😱

Dressage: He’s not dressaged on grass since his first Intro test 8 years ago but he did a sweet little test with only one minor spook in the 2nd canter (well he couldn’t complete a whole dressage test without a single spook could he 🤣) for a score of 29.5 and =6th 👍

Showjumping: Let’s just say we provided everyone with plenty of entertainment 🙈🤣🤣 On the positive side he’s rapidly growing in confidence & wasn’t bothered by any of the jumps or fillers 😃 We now need to sort out the brakes & steering!! Despite the lack of brakes & steering we managed to get round clear 👍

Cross Country: He was Awesome 🤩🤩🤩 He absolutely flew round! (a slap down the shoulder to give him confidence 2 strides out produces a ‘turbo boost’ 🚀 reaction 🤣) He backed off the pin wheels slightly but when given his turbo boost 🚀 slap down the shoulder he flew over (he did tuck his butt on landing because there was another pin wheel the other side which was going to eat him 🤣) and then he flew home… only to spook at the starters gazebo, almost gallop sideways into a ditch & end up diverting into another field still at the gallop 🙈🙈🙈 We had, thankfully, managed to go through the finish before diverting so were actually clear 👍

29.5 double clear for 6th place 🎉🎉🎉

Massive thanks to Emma who came with us as chief groom/videographer/photographer and spent most of her day laughing at us (have the sound on at the end of the videos!!) & hanging onto the end of a leadrope while Baby B decided which bit of luscious grass he was going to eat next 🌾

Today we did our first ever cross country!!!!! 😱😱😱

Yes, it was tiny! Yes, we went slowly! But we got round safely, in one piece and had an amazing time 🤩 We paired up with Charlotte & Tom with the idea that the jumps one didn’t like, the other may not mind, and it worked! (even if my brakes didn’t) 😆 So proud of my Baby B 🥰

Back to the dark side today with some showjumping at Crockstead Equestrian Centre, I won’t subject you to the videos and my incessant running commentary 🙈🙉… no penalties for chattering away on the dark side apparently 🤣 Suffice to say Baby B was a star ⭐️ but the damn jockey needs flipping sacking!! 🤬
He had a good look at the many fillers 🫣 but bless him, with me chattering away & pony club kicking, we got round both classes for 3rd place in each🥉
The second class had additional “liquorice allsort’ fillers towards the end of the round so we came round the corner with lots of vocal encouragement & kicking going on and bless him, he flew it… only to say ‘no thanks’ two strides out from the planks he’d already jumped in the previous class! Ok, so they had an additional plank at the bottom which was mainly the dreaded blue in colour 😱 but had the stupid jockey just held her damn right rein & kept kicking, I have no doubt he would of just flown over them rather than round them saving us 4 faults & a lot of time 😡😡😡
