Give your dog something to talk about! These are some of the locations I can walk your dog, and give them a real story to tell you afterwards about how they explored the countryside and coastal areas

of North Cornwall. Maybe they met new friends, or maybe a scent on the fresh wind had them excited. Either way, they'll have a wagging tail and a big yawn to show for the day's adventures. If your lifestyle, schedule or routine makes it tricky for you to walk your dog, I can do it for you and give you peace of mind your canine pal is being looked after in your absence.

About Me, Monty and Mabel
Hi, I'm Fran. I'm the founder and owner of North Cornwall Dog Walking. I've lived in North Cornwall since 2009. In that time, I have formed a deep love of this beautiful county, along with an understanding of its unique geography, climate and ways of life. Cornwall is a forever home for me, my family and my pets. I have owned dogs and numerous other pets all my life, and I've learned that walking is the key to happiness & wellbeing, both for humans and our beloved canine companions. I care deeply about animal welfare and your dog's time with me is top priority. When it's appropriate, most walks are shared with my own dogs, Monty, Mabel & Mocha. Monty, an Irish Setter & Collie cross, soon to be Agility Champion (of my heart, at least) was born in 2016 and is the most playful dog there is. Mabel is a rescued Irish Setter girl born in 2015, and she's wonderfully loving and sociable even with her troubled past. Mocha is our youngster, a little working cocker spaniel. He has taken on the role as my personal trainer running with me.

Sometimes, the best plans just… don’t work out, ey!
We took a trip to Brecon this weekend to run the “October Half Marathon” (I’m doing one every month) in a different place. We also went to attend the Brecon Food Festival, for the 3rd time, which was lovely as always. Saturday Mocha had a freak accident ripping one of his claws clean off. From then on we had to leave Laura & her dogs to do the adventuring and we could only really snuggle up in our shepherds hut. I didn’t feel like running the Half leaving him behind, so only managed a shorter run. Poor little fella, he’s on 3 legs for the time being and will hopefully be back to normal soon, joining our running in November.

This morning we hosted our first Introduction to Canicross / Canihiking for Dog Professionals ✨
Talking all things equipment, harness fitting, cue training… but also how good the sport can be for our clever dogs when we implement stimulating cues rather than just using it for exercise, how it can create a bond with the dogs we look after and give them confidence to overcome fears and ignore triggers when working into a harness; we discussed how the hands free walking equipment can be used in our job, making it more comfortable for the dog and more enjoyable for ourselves;
Well done and thank you Anna for assisting 😘

We chatted about, well, my life amongst dogs, being your own boss and that working with dogs isn’t always frolicking through meadows with happy dogs! … but that there is plenty of that happening, too.
The conclusion was - I created myself a life I no longer want to escape from, I work every day to keep up with my dog’s luxury lifestyle and I’m incredibly proud of the service I am providing for my clients.

While we solely Canicross to have fun and explore new trails together, we cannot forget Canicross is a sport. Mocha is a little power house with a lot of muscle, he‘s very active and gets walked, run or trained for several hours a day. Most dogs aren’t 100% symmetric in their gait but in Mocha it shows even more. Easily overlooked or ignored, as it’s not causing issues or pain, but I take his health as, if not more, serious as my own.
✨ regular fitness swims with The Retreat, Canine Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation, concentrating on figure of 8s to engage the core and hind legs
✨ not all about the body, we’re also concentrating on the mind, reminding ourselves of important cues when on the trails guided by K9 Trail Time
✨Manibus Canine Clinical Massage helping Mocha find his zen and ease tight muscles
✨ Physiotherapist Louise Towl finding Mocha’s weaknesses and telling us how to strengthen those
✨ Homework 📚 several times a day we go through the prescribed exercises to be ready to run! 💪
