I am working with animals from the age of 14 and I have experience working as a veterinary nurse .I work from my Dard licenced boarding kennels Top Dog pet hotel and Spa We now have our DARD approved Kennels opened :) we only have a few kennels so each dog gets personal attention. Each dog gets walked up to 3 times a day:) and I is a real home from home for most dogs :) All Dog have to be up to date on there vaccinations and have kennel cough vac as well.

Some cute pups this week sorry I didn’t get everyone’s picture been a busy week. I am only working a few days next week but I then will be taking a break from grooming for a few weeks as boarding is really busy and I want to give one to one time to all the visiting pups. This takes a lot of work and we are family run do need to help out lol 😂

Sundays are still a busy day here for me as training the top dog four 🐩 so washes for some of my poodle team. Pups are 9weeks and ready for new homes two are going tomorrow and it’s been a day of play and giving mum Luna a makeover so she feels her best at a difficult time for her. Teddy and jester still looking for a new 🛋️ forever home.

I do love to get new puppies from the start as starting as soon as the owners get them help build bonds that last their life ;) my newest Top Dog had a brilliant first groom and her mum couldn’t believe the difference in her . Pictures are of the best pups old and new

It’s been a mad few days as been a busy bee 🐝 lol 😂 summer cuts all week and nice to see happy smiling pups . A wee update as bookings are fewer due to Abby leaving and starting her own grooming. We wish her the best but it’s back to me myself and I lol 😂 but I will continue to give all my pups the best service . Please if booking kennels all bookings are made on the website www.topdogni.co.uk . I am running two business and i can answer texts if i know who you are lol and i now have my number business only and only working hours. Bailey my son is now helping with bookings for kennels and online. But all grooming appointments are still to be made through me as i can understand what the groom is and if i can fit it in x thanks for your understanding Karen xx . So I have a lot of interest in the puppies and I wanted to post an educational post about 🐩.
I have owned and shown 🏅 poodles for over 12 years. Marley my first poodle was bought just as a pet and grooming competition dog .( pictured 4 black dog with pink flowers) he has had many a different hairstyle but he just is an amazing wee dog. A poodle needs professional grooming minimum 4 to 6 weeks between grooms . My show dogs are a different story they can be washed twice a week and groomed once a week and only recommend a show cut on a poodle for a groomer or someone able to groom their own poodle 🐩.
A lot of people look at my 2nd poodle Hugo (Irish champion Tiny Reilly) who is now retired ,living with my mum and dad. A lot say he is a gorgeous bichon lol 😜 . Hugo’s is the first 3 pictures of the white dog . And yes it’s the same dog lol 😂 . My dad prefers a teddy look. .
Poodles can look like like a cockapoo but they can also look like a cute poodle. 🐩 i love 🧡 them in all hairstyles and these pups are going to have an amazing coat which if your a groomer they will be starting their grooming training soon as I like my pups to understand how the grooming goes. Grooming for these size of poodles start at £45 for a pet trim every 4-6 weeks so please if considering a poodle pup allow this expense as part of their care. All these pictures are of poodles 🤓🥰🤩 ps the pups are getting big ;)

It’s been an amazing crufts this year as it was my very first time to show my own dog 🐩. Louis (Aftershine son of Drako) the pup lol got 4th in his class . It’s such an amazing achievement for a year old pup to cope with all the noise and madness of the event. I am so happy that all the hard work has paid off. We will be keeping it going for the Irish ☘️ shows now the next few weeks and Tiger and his dad Drako will be joining him x I will get back to messages for grooming tomorrow and get everyone confirmed. Wrecked is not the word. The driving has took it out of me lol 😂

Another make over Monday ;) when becoming a new customer with us we sometimes have to go shorter than what customers would like due to matting but we make the dogs first groom as comfortable as we can and have a good experience for them so that when they can come regularly and the groom can grow with their confidence. It takes a lot more time for a first groom like today but the patience is worth it x for her first groom she did amazingly as her mum has been doing washing and brushing at home she excepted the process really well. Pups need to come after first vaccinations to help them get used to the environment of a grooming parlour.
Did you enjoy the dry weather at the weekend? Louis and I had a lovely day at the beach yesterday but the sand and salt water is not good to be left on his skin and coat and he got his groom today. If your Top dog has been out in mud or the beaches book them in for a mini groom if they don’t need a full groom 😉 we have spaces this week and with snow predicted have their coat in tip top condition. And remember if you want to be VIP when boarding with us you need to be regular to keep the discount. 4,6,8 weeks are classed as VIP and it saves you £5 per day for staying .

Last night our hearts and house was broken 💔 our princess Peaches was killed by a lorry on our road ( the driver believes he can 60 on our road). This dog was not just a dog but she was my youngest son Ty’s best Friend and reason for living. Ty has asd and struggles at every day life and peaches was given to him from our friend Denis Mcdermott. She was two at Christmas and was such a special dog with being born here with us and hand raised by Adrian Leckey and myself. Nothing will replace her.
