🏡 HOMES NEEDED 🏡

We are now looking for safe, loving, forever homes for lots of beautiful hens - thanks to the amazing work of the awesome humans of
Fresh Start For Hens 🙌

They are around 72 weeks old, from a free range commercial egg farm. They have spent most of their short lives in a barn with 6000 other hens. They deserve a long happy life in peace and safety, where they can recuperate and flourish.

If you have space in your home and flock to take in some of these hens, please fill out an adoption form, and we’ll get back to you asap.

💪🙌 we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped the Sanctuary through this recent storm damage.

💚 those incredibly kind and generous people who donated to help us purchase repair materials
💚 and those thoroughly awesome individuals who gave up their time and energies to come and rebuild, clean up and repair the Sanctuary… like James, who built this absolutely BRILLIANT new straw shed from pallets and the old hay tent cover!

We couldn’t do what we do without the support network of amazing humans around us. Who share our beliefs that animals deserve respect and kindness, and are willing to help us offer a safe space 💚💚

👋 Hello beautiful Peppa pig!

The humans of PTF Animal Sanctuary want to share something that has been going on for the last little while here.

Over the past couple of years, complaints have been made against the Sanctuary, to various official bodies.

We have been contacted by the RSPCA (who spoke with both us and our vets), two visits from DEFRA/APHA, local Planning Department, Environmental Health and Food Standards inspections, and all of these representatives have been totally happy with what we are doing and have no concerns at all. We recently scored the highest possible rating from the vet at APHA, and just had a 5 star food hygiene rating too, for our much-loved Afternoon Teas.

We know that all of these complaints are coming from one person (who seems to be trespassing on our land to take photographs) and we know that they are also writing things about us on pages on social media, questioning all our practices and animal welfare at the Sanctuary.

This is really upsetting, as aside from the precious time it’s taking to meet with all these people, for a small charity like ours helping vulnerable animals this kind of reputation damage could be really catastrophic.

Please be reassured that we have very gladly had all of these inspections, and everyone here is very loved and looked after by a very special team of volunteers.

We are currently making moves to report this harassment officially. So if you do see any negative mentions of what we do, please let us know. As well as appreciating the opportunity to present the truth, this would be helpful in terms of gathering evidence.

🚨storm Darragh is ripping through the Sanctuary😳😭

We’ve been in a Red Warning zone here, and the gale-force winds have torn roofing sheets off our hen, duck and turkey coops, destroyed our straw tent beyond repair, and brought a few trees down which have broken fencing in our pig areas! 🐷😳

We’re riding out the rest of the crazy wind, and the animals are all doing ok.. little ones having been moved to temporary safety, and some of the big ones having duvet days.

When the storm dies down on Monday, we’ll have a BIG clean up operation to face. We need to buy new roof sheets and fencing materials, and set to work ASAP to make all of our areas safe again for the animals.

We’re setting up this fundraiser for £300 to get these materials, and hoping we can get a team together to get all of this done as soon as possible.

🐀 HELP! 🐀

We love rats, but we don’t want them eating our animals’ dinners!!

Every animal sanctuary struggles with uninvited wildlife guests at some stage or other, and we are no different!

Rats have decided that our hen, goat and sheep food is rather delicious.. and are making it their mission to chew through our old faithful heavy duty plastic bins to steal some!!

Whilst of course they need their dinner too, we need to keep this food safe for our animal residents.

We need **6 MORE** of these metal bins to add to our existing metal bins, and make our feed shed safe and secure.

If you’re able to gift us one, we’d be so massively grateful for the help. (I can’t say the rats will thank you though!!😳😅🐀)

Beautiful Chancer having his dental health check up last week, with moral support from Thomas🐴🐴

This gorgeous boy is 24 years young, and the calm-but-strong head of the horse herd. He, nor Thomas or Jason, will ever be ridden again, but they still need regular hoof-trims, parasite-control, check ups and vaccinations to ensure they are healthy and happy in their lives at the Sanctuary.

Meet Ru Paul 💚

This year our Sanctuary Christmas cards shine a light on Ru Paul’s story🎄🥰

Ru the turkey was rescued from the meat industry, and arrived to us in tatters. His legs and feet were weak and deformed, and bald patches covered his intensively-bred body. He was sadly only with us for just less than a year.

In his time with us, he made so many new friends, bathed in the sunshine, pecked around the undergrowth, and won over everyone’s hearts with his incredibly sweet and inquisitive nature.

Ru was a beautiful soul, and an individual worthy of love. As they all are.

100% proceeds go directly to caring for the rescue animals here at the Sanctuary, and helps us to save and advocate for more individuals like Ru.
